❣️ JIMIN even received an award from Cultural Conservation Society for his epic Fan Dance, from the 2018 MMA, BTS "Idol" intro fan dance performance, making Jimin the first and only musician in Korean history to be awarded 3 National awards. The "plaque of appreciation" that fan award is one of the most prestigious award. Jimin is the only artist to hold 3 national awards, BTS members all have two awards but Jimin is the only member and idol to hold 3awards. Detailed info links are in reply.

This performance completely changed my opinion of Idol as a song. It went from just okay to one of my favorite songs. I wish they would release an audio version using the traditional Korean instrumental.

2018 MMA is my favorite of their year end award performances. The fact that they cut away from that insane fan kick, though, drives me batty every time. I don’t care about the crowd. Show me the guys doing their thing.

What has always impressed me about their music are the lyrics and then the beautiful music. The dancing is like icing on the cake.

You need to see the whole perfomance from this show. Its 3 songs so not too long. But EPIC. And remember, this was an awards show. NOT a BTS concert.

My all time favorite IDOL performance ever! 🔥🔥🔥
These dances and the music is all Traditional Korean Music and Dance and it's BTS answer to those who said BTS had become too Westernised. The music and dance routines to Idol already had elements of Korean Traditional Dance and music in it yet they were still accused of being too Westernised. The song is a clap back at their haters on so many levels plus it's about loving yourself first before you can love others.
Notice that BTS are wearing elements of traditional Korean Dress called Hanbok which consists of Jeogori (jacket) and baggy pants that are called Baji.
The ladies drumming is traditional, as are the instruments, the 2 dancing 'Lions' and the men with the ribbons attached to their heads as the drum and dance. The white sleeve dance and the fan dance all traditional Korean forms of dance. Fan dance is usually done only be women so for Jimin to do it was very special.
Yes, this is your first time watching this performance. Literally crazy one. If you watch this, you will never forget about it.😉💜
I was watching a K-drama like 3 weeks ago and I screamed when I saw the JK dance being performed by ladies. I was yelling "Thats what JK was doing?!" It was nice to see it performed for the King in The Kings Affection.

If no one has still commented, during this performance, the other artists present, since this is an AWARD SHOW not a concert, needed to hold onto their seats, because the whole stadium was shaking wildly and uncontrollably.

Though when I saw this I just wanted to comment that this song saved and changed me. I was in very dark times. I wanted to just give up and I was watching you tube and this video played and when they sang... you can't stop me from loving myself, It was like a switch was flipped and it was a battled but I made it . Let me tell you, Idol is THE concert song. You see Idol in concert and its a life changing, religious experience. And this performance is perfection.
I was watching this very early in the morning…hubby still sleeping…headphones on…hiding my phone under the blankets like I was 10 years old sneaking my phone instead of sleeping. Thinking I was being quiet and non disturbing. WRONGO😩 My hubby taps me on my shoulder and says “What in the world are you doing?” Apparently I was wiggling and saying CHA😂🤭😂🤭😂🤭😂Then I couldn’t lie….”I’m watching @Roscoe and BTS” He said “I have no words” 🤣🤣🤣

The way the Korean traditional dance culture is so well mixed into a pop song ! And the intro where JHope, JM and JK did their respective solos, wow!!!!! They were only 25, 23, and 21 and can each solo and hold the Attn of thousands of audience⚡️BTS 💟

I really liked this and how immersive it was. Another one I recommend is at least the intro to and Blood Sweat and Tears in the 2016 MAMA awards. Not every version has the end of BSaT with a little drama with V and Jin and the Boy Meets Evil dance beforehand. Make sure you have one that has both (I can give you a link if necessary).

This performance of Idol was done this way with careful attention to the South Korean culture to shut down their haters, mostly underground hip-hop rap artists, who said they were sellouts and lost their heritage by going too global and were now westernized.
