I can't imagine any Western music awards show as epic as this. It feels like a water down version after I experience BTS performance
Western awards shows aren't even watered down. They are total crap now. Even when they let BTS on it was a joke a few years ago. It was so short it was like why bother.
Right.
I can honestly say these seven boys have changed my life. I have a stronger relationship with my husband and family, finally got tattoos I've talked about for years, am changing my career after 24 years and am looking forward to all of it. The song Mikrokosmos and these boys helped me get there. I did the work but their energy and music cheered me on along the way.
Can I ask what you do and what your changing it to? I have been at the same job for 21 yrs.
@@ba-ah8073 I work for a large retail chain in Canada. In December of 2021, I was struggling in many areas. Covid had been hard for me and my relationship was not strong. I heard Mikrokosmsos and cried. Really felt my pain, fears and frustration for the first time in years. I wanted to believe that song about myself so much. But how could they sing it and really think that I could be that person. That they actually cared about my fears and concerns and daily struggles. But they do. I really believe that. And as I heard more songs such as Love Myself, Appanman, I'm Fine, Magic Shop, I opened up something I can't even explain. I found the smallest piece of me. These men have truly changed my reality. I worked on my personal shit and found happiness in people again. I got a tattoo that says 'and I think to myself what a wonderful world' on one arm and another that says 'can't we have one more dance' on the other. I got angel wings on my back (one perfect and one not so much). In February of 2023, I came home broken from a day at work and cried on my husband's shoulder for the first time in a long time. And he asked me why was I still there. I didn't have an answer. Started applying next day. I sent out more than 60 resumes. I began to question who would want a 47 year old woman who only knew one thing. I have 24 years work of experience and it took someone from a recruitment agency seeing it and recognizing my value to find me. I interviewed with a heavy machinery company (an industry that I know not a thing about) on my birthday for a parts representative. I actually got my offer today. And I felt no nervousness or fear in the decision as I gave my resignation. I own it. I own my actions. I own myself and what I am doing. And I love it.

❣️This was from the annual Melon Music Awards, a Korean award show the equivalent to the BBMA’s. BTS swept the awards, thus closed the award show, though many other artists did indeed performed beforehand. The cost of the production for BTS entertainment company BigHit, was over 500K dollars, and all the in-house production team of BigHit started planning it over half a yr beforehand! Also most of the rehearsal time that BTS had was while they were touring worldwide. But they all were quite into doing this, and somehow managed to fit in the rehearsal like they did the yr before. All the solo performances were prerecorded live with smaller audience the day before, though BTS did also perform a version of their solos, while the broadcasted version saw the VCR version filmed day before, with the exception to Jimin’s solo performance, who only performed live only, without the benefit of prerecorded VCR. Since there was no way to have these stage sets and tank pool of water let alone have JK, who was performing the dance in water get dried and change clothes beforehand! BTS did also perform a version of their solos, while the broadcasted version saw the VCR version filmed day before. The only one who performed live only without benefit of VCR being shown,for the broadcasted version, was Jimin, who shows here being the phenomenal, breathtakingly amazing professional dancer which he was before even signing on to BTS. Also certain songs like Mikrokosmos, as well as beginning part of RM’s Persona, was performed live beforehand and also prerecorded so they could also allow for the special effects that only people who saw the broadcast on TV in South Korea or had it stream worldwide could see that version. Also the part with the live horses was filmed beforehand without an audience.

This is my favorite Jimin solo dance! He's so ethereal.
I think this was the first time they performed Dionysus. That was an insane performance.
I read somewhere that JK would practice singing on an inclined treadmill, in order to increase his lung power. Those kids practiced 16 hours a day. Bang Si Hyuk and his group were absolutely brilliant and genius, when they put together this group. I am 77 years old, and I have seen a lot of talent. There will never be another BTS!

that's why so many kpop artists groups look up to them because of their stage presence. Yes the production/crew planned & put together the stages BUT it's the boys themselves practiced tons & their expression & energy delivered so perfectly at the end. & amen- no one can take moments like this away from us or BTS!

I was late to see this live with you, but your reaction mirrored mine so much it was like I was watching and experiencing it again for the first time. Joyous, awestruck, proud, appreciative, grateful. On Suga's Suchwita show he talks with Hoshi from SVT, who says that BTS raised the bar on what's expected of an award show performance. So now everyone goes all out with staging and dancers 😂
What I love about this is that we all know them so well 😂 I love how you knew Jimin is a little nervous. It's like we know exactly what they're thinking because we know them so well. I don't think any other musician and fan base can say that.
BTS are 1 of a kind number 1 in my eyes. I'm 51 they help me through my illness I have for life thanks captain ❤❤

The marvel of BTS is their strength of love, trust and respect for each other. They never once try to outshine one another whether it be for their art or their persona. Their music is an amalgamation of their 7 talented and beautiful souls.

I watched this video for the first time May of last year and Jimin’s dance solo single handedly made me fall head over heels into Kpop

Love BTS. Can you just imagine what the parents of these boys are feeling as they watch their son do this. I can't even comprehend....[tears]
❣️Jimin’s solo performance, wearing a modernized hanbok just fastened by ties only, had many different dance elements in it! Including the barrel leaps taken from Korean dance elements, some martial arts elements, (trained for 8 yrs in various forms w/blackbelt in Taekwondo), & of course contemporary dance. Also, equally ever so stunningly outstanding, was Jimin's scarf work, which is alone so hard to master, without getting that ever so thin veil of a scarf all tangled! Jimin somehow was able to make the scarf one with himself, using it as an extension, even at one point when he did that amazing jump leap straight up the scarf becoming his wings!! Jimin's whole performance was so amazingly stunningly beautiful. Just so effortlessly breathtakingly mesmerizing to see!!
Though the other members did a version of their solo performances for benefit of the live audiences, for the broadcast version as seen here, viewer see the prerecorded version, that was prerecorded the day before, since especially JK’s performance in water with that heavy tank that weighed a ton wouldn’t be able to maneuver for live audience, as well as some of the other effects seen like for Mikrokosmos, also the part with the horses was obviously prerecorded as a safeguard for the horses. It also gave a chance for BTS come up for air as well as give them time to change. Jimin was the only one who didn’t have the benefit of prerecorded VCR, which meant that for his solo performance by the broadcasted version, viewers saw Jimin perform live only. While the broadcast version showed for rest of members the prerecorded version. But once again the live audience did get an opportunity to see BTS members do a version of their solos.

The first time I saw one of their award shows I was in disbelief. Thankfully they will be on the internet forever because any time we miss them they are at our fingertips. Watching them is a true experience. Vocals, visuals,artistry, they are special for a reason.When you write your own music and lyrics they are specially for each member.That’s why when someone else sings their songs it’s not the same.They are now and will forever have the distinction of being unsurpassed 💜

I think they intended this to be their last big award show performance before the MOTS tour, after which Jin was to enter the military and everyone was to do solo work and enter the military one-by-one - what they’re doing now, but two years ago. I think that’s why this was so big, and why the MMAs gave them this much time. There was probably more uncertainty back then about whether they would come back as seven after enlistment, etc., but they blew up even more after this thanks to the pandemic/Dynamite/Butter…and they missed out on their intended huge worldwide stadium tour.
Thanks for your reaction. I totally agree with you. Even when we don't know what will happen in the future, we will have pleasant memories of their presentations. There is no artist like them in the world. Someone 47 years old tells you. They are unique, and their legacy will live on. Life wanted me to be able to see these guys perform and I hope it gives me much more life to see them together doing wonderful things.

My fave part was Jimin’s Solo. It was pure ART. 2018 Melon music award Jimin gained attention and the Kim Baek Bong Korean Fan Dance Conservation Society has presented Jimin with a plaque of appreciation for his epic Korean fan dance. In 2019 Melon Music award Jimin again snatched attention. He became the hot topics and trended worldwide as “trending emperor”, “trending fairy” and “recruiting fairy” as he snatched countless locals/GP and international celebrities. Jimin isnt titled “King of Kpop” “Idol of Idols” “ Rookie’s Bible” “Dance God” “Stage Commander” for nothing. He sets the bar of a kpop idol too high yet still being humble with global manners.

I can't believe you haven't done this already, but so glad I could watch it with you. Seen it many times, but it Never gets old! As for your ending statements, yes, we will always have this to look or think back on (and so will they!), as well as all their other MV's, Lives, Dance Practices, RUN BTS shows, In The Soop, Bon Voyage, etc. etc. I really can't state how thankful I am that I found BTS in May 2021 (sad I was so late in finding them, but at least I did) and never looked back. Never in my life (and I'm old) have I fangirled quite so much over a group. I'm obsessed with these 7 young men from South Korea - their talents, their hard work, everything about them! It's only BTS for me! My checkbook isn't very happy about that, but I don't care. 🙂

They are incredible people and artists, they are the best in the world, they came into my life and made it better thanks to my children and my curiosity to know who these guys were who stole my attention.

Yep, they are legends and that’s why the American music Industry screws them over any chance they get (recent example: what they did to Jimin!)! They are scared $hitless of them!
And then they thought they’d be free of them when they started their hiatus… Instead, they have our talented boys’ solos works to contend with…and now they’re scared $hitless of EACH of them alone! 😂 Can you imagine anyone putting on a show like that in the U.S.? I mean, when was the last time we’ve seen a performance even 1/2 as good as this?! NEVER!!!!! These boys cannot be defeated - together or apart!!!💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
You had same reaction we did when it happened!! Usually acts get one song per award won that year. Since BTS won almost every award that night and ALL the major ones including album, song, group, and artists of the year-- they did 35 minutes!!! It was epic and I had goosebumps then and now!!!
It's impossible to not love them and their incredible talent as an artist....

I first saw BTS in May 2019 on the Stephen Colbert show. It was in black and white and there was a drum set with BTS on it. Stephen Cobert came out first looking like Ed Sullivan. Then the group came out in suits. It took me back to the first time I saw The Beatles (yes I'm that old). I was intrigued but not only could they sing in harmony but could dance in sync, While Singing! After that performance I wanted to know everything there was to know about them. There's not much I haven't seen or heard several times. I was fortunate enough to see them in Las Vegas last year. It was an awesome experience! Another note (I always miss your lives so I don't know if you talked about it already) is that both MMA and MAMA 2019 are special in the selection of songs, since they planned 2020 to be their 2022 after the MOTS tour. They did revisit old songs to show their trajectory and also to show they are in perfect shape no matter what (as Yoongi said in the Disney+ clips, not the docu, their confidence comes from thinking they are the best on stage and believing to this day that they put in the work for it 10+ years into their career)

They are not only good people, their values and existence inspire their fans to do good as well. What a breathtakingly wonderful performance; I've seen it many times and each time is stunning. I am especially proud of Namjoon and Jin during their dance break - if you watch the Dionysus dance practice, you can see clearly that they sat up on the table, then Jin leapt up, rotating on his left hand, to an upright position, Namjoon rotating on his right. Beautiful cross and on to the "trust falls" - great job by the left and right wings, as they called themselves.

Jungkook always knowing where the camera is and his eye contact and stage presence just is elite in boy in luv and boy w luv in particular… same with Dionysus . I feel like as an empath who feeds off the energy of crowd… mikrokosmos being prerecorded is written all over his face lol
