Asian award shows really are on another level compared to western award shows. BTS came that night to take no prisoners and to show everyone exactly who's boss! Iconic performance that I doubt we'll ever see bested unless the guys themselves decide they want to do a bigger and better one!

An award show performance where they seriously did a whole dang concert and everyone of their peers and the whole K-pop industry who had treated them badly watched them give THE best most memorable performance. Keep in mind NTS paid for this out of pocket to flex how amazing they are. Everything in this is layered with symbolism and I love them ending like the Greek gods each portrayed sitting above casually looking down (also they all nearly passed out backstage afterwards and need oxygen). And yes they win almost every award that night poor guys got no rest going up to collect awards all night including the first ever grand prize sweep taking all 4 (best song best album etc) on top of that. Give BTS an inch they will flex their talent and American award shows could never handle it 😂.

No other performer can sing live and keep their voice this stable while dancing non stop. BTS used to practice singing while running on the treadmill. Shout out to their endurance, stamina and training!

Ok, new subscriber here. Nobody does it better and those are Live vocals. I'm a 60 year old ARMY and BTS is teaching me to walk again. 4 surgeries down and 2 more to go, but I have BTS in my headphones during grueling physical therapy appointments. At 27:30 when each member does their solo dance, they are performing to a remix of one of their older songs. The first dance solo is to their debut song and the dances are a representation of their discography through the years. This award show was at the end of 2019, and in January 2020 they released their next album that was to be followed by a world tour and then enlistment into the army. Of course, Covid changed everything related to the tour. The planned enlistment was delayed with exponential growth in popularity, release of their English songs, and they hit the top of the charts. Had the pandemic not occurred, this performance was a true retrospective of their career thus far and a lead into their final album before a break for enlistment.
The break dance you rewinded was done by J-Hope!! The best dancer there is, next to the gracefull Jimin who was the one in white with the cloth...... they perform like no others!!!! 💜

This performance changed award show performances around the world not just south korea!!! No one will top this ever!! The one you liked with the laser performance is jhope/ hobi. He is amazing at dancing and currently serving in the military for his mandatory service along side jin who came out on the horse. Xx
BTS are the best performers. They always go so hard and even if they are performing with no props or something they have always give their 100%. 💜🔥🔥
As you can imagine, this is not a concert, but just an awards ceremony.Karllllll😭😭I'm telling the truth, such a performance was not in the history of K-pop, you can check for yourself, but none of the artists danced and did not arrange such a scale in MAMA OR MMA or in another ceremony.
This is an award ceremony for K-pop groups, 80% of the audience here were Army, the stars that you see are "Army bombs". Bis have been preparing hard, they are such good fellows, I look at the reactions and I want to cry so much, now we don't see them together for 3 years, we will wait..And thank you for your sincere reaction, we purple you guys💜💜

For Mikrokosmos, they use AR (augmented reality) technology and it's really cool. The audience will see the effect on the big LED screens on stage. BTS have used this technology in their concerts as well. It's just adds to the whole amazing entertainment.

The main difference between kpop artists and western artists is their involvement with the fans and fan engagement. It's a HUGE part of the kpop industry. When groups release an album, they have what's known as "Comebacks" and once you get into the world of kpop, you'll hear that term thrown around a lot. During a comeback, groups really begin to engage with their fans more by doing vlive's, IG lives, variety shows, fan signings, and they really go all out to promote their music. Sure they do it here in the states but not to the level in Korea. They REALLY push for fan engagement and that's a huge part of their success and why fans go crazy for their favorite groups/idols.
BTS award show performances are Insane
Their biggest talent is their ability to perform! Also this performance seems so exhausting. They put 110% in the entire time. 💜

Even if they were still not at their highest they were huge and the show was about the hight level performences, the budget, but also about the who you are today couldn't be without the you of yesterday for the songs they performed, going through their discography from the beginning 2013 to the present day 2019. And Dyonisus is about celebrating, is from the ancient Greek mitology as we're the individual performances, showing ancient gods(fire, wind, water, war...)

What made me stay and follow this group was not necessarily the music. Not at first, because my typical genre is generally different. But I watched a live performance, and I realised I've been literally scammed my entire life by other artists. :)) Watching these people makes you think what are the other artists even doing when they go up on the stage? And why are we paying for it?
You should watch all their MAMA's and MMA's performances.. they are like the Superbowl half-time on massive steroids..

The members microphones have evolved over the years, and may have changed again since 2021. They used to have custom mics that were covered by Swarovski crystals but those were put on display to the Hybe Museum (Hybe Insight).

Here is the story i read somewhere: BTS was about to go on tour in early 2020 and right after the tour, they would start enlisting into the military, so they knew this would be their last award show for 2-3 years and they wanted to go out with a bang. Unfortunately, the pandemic hit and they had to cancel their tour and they postponed enlistment until 2022 (Jin, the eldest, enlisted December 2022 and JHope, the 3rd eldest just enlisted in April this year).
I hope when they all come back, they're given the opportunity to perform at another awards show and burn the roof down again. 🔥🔥

People always recommend this shows as it is amazing. But I really think you are better watching more music videos and lyric videos with captions so you can see the variety in style, musicality and lyricism BTS brings.

You guys HAVE to do Outro Tear next. Best rap line song IMO and a very emotional one when you find out what it's about. It's basically a break up song that Suga wrote when they were on the verge of disbanding in 2018. And if you want live vocals, they did a cover of Coldplay's Fix You which has god tier vocals from ALL of them. You need to check these out next

I'm with y'all, as are millions of others that have watched this, agreeing that this is the best live performance EVER. In 45+ years of concerts of every type and genre, never have I seen anything like this. Obviously, they put Western award shows to shame... and how. In the last part of this performance, each members represent Greek gods and 7 lights coming from the top, horses, girls tossing flowers, all these have meanings and stories. BTS always put on very meaningful performances.

2:52 You are absolutely right. BTS always makes sure to send a message with their music and spread positivity. This performance takes inspiration from their Map of the Soul album series. As one of the main songwriters, RM loves philosophical texts, poetry, and art and often tries to implement that into his work which is why is more than a musician. He is an artist. He actually considered pursuing poetry as a career when he was younger. Anyway that album series mentioned before is based on Carl Jung’s idea of what’s called the Map of the Soul which explores a person’s psyche and sense of self. The album Map of the Soul: 7 includes the songs Intro: Persona (the first song which RM raps), Interlude: Shadow, and Outro: Ego. Our persona is on the surface and is kind of like a mask. It is what we show to the world and how we consciously deal with situations. Our shadow is the opposite of our persona and is considered an unconscious portion of our psyche. It is what we don’t want anyone else to see, what we hide from everyone else sometimes even ourselves because society doesn’t accept it. Our ego is at the center of consciousness and acts kind of like a mirror in which the psyche can see itself and can become conscious. It originated from the Latin word meaning “I”. It is necessary in order for anything to become conscious whether it’s a thought, feeling, perception, fantasy, etc. In the album Map of the Soul: 7, BTS uses these songs in addition to 16 other songs to explore how the Persona, Ego, and Shadow can encounter each other and the journey a person may face including accounts of their own feelings and experiences.

The guy rapping at 9:09 is actually J-Hope, he's one of the 3 rappers of BTS. He's also the Dance Leader and sub-vocal, he's basically the "jack of all trades" among the hyung (term for older brother) line (pun intended with the Jack in the Box, his solo album, reference).
Yes, they have different color microphones that march the earpiece they're wearing, each member choose their mic color and some new ARMYs can use them to tell the members apart.
