The FRA didn't mandate Ditch Lights for running over crossings until 1/1/97. Before then, you didn't need them, and MARCs GP40WH-2s were exempted as they had Gyralights. Metro-Norths M8s don't have ditch lights as they don't run over crossings.

I would have thought that CSX F40s would be quite popular, and Amtraks F40s didn't get ditch lights until late in their careers, and no unit got them in Phase II.
Like our earlier F40PH releases these models will come with operating headlights, red marker lights, lit number boards, roof mounted strobe lights and ditch lights on the later era units. The red emergency light between the number boards is non functional due to decoder function limitations, but in general these were very rarely used on the prototypes.

Thanks! Freight railroads don't generally like full cowl bodied locomotives as they restrict the crew's view. Mechanically these were basically the same as the GP40-2 and SD40-2 which were hugely popular.
So since its after Nov 16 are they in production now? I just got my shipment of amfleets from a manufacturer that only makes beginner level F40s. Waiting on your units to pull them, aswell as your horizon cars!

Not planned at the moment, but we'll consider it in the future. Those units would require all new tooling from the ground up.

These are early in production now and will be arriving in the spring. HO Horizon cars are arriving next week!

But I like NJ Transit a lot because by the Pascack Valley line

I heard a rumor that the phase 3 MBTA locomotives are going to be delayed by several months. Is this true?
MBTA F40s have arrived and are shipping out now. Only the Amtrak Phase III units are delayed and will be arriving late fall.
