    I’m so freaking happy, I’ve studied English for 7 years, it all started with my parents (they’re not native English speakers) when I was 4 years old, I went to a bilingual kindergarten and there English became my everything! And currently I’m obsessed with it😂♥️ I’ve made friends abroad, I got used to watch movies in English, to listen songs in English among other things! Sometimes I make mistakes, and I must research on the internet where I’ve failed and how should I improve my English. You’re helping me a lot and I could never thank you enough for it. Thanks for taking the time to help others and for making me keep my passion for this language♥️

    As a non native english speaker, I find that understanding what I listen depends wildly on the speaker. In some cases I am able to understand almost everything, but in others I am not able to understand a single word, I think is a matter of phrasing, some people speaks in a way that every words seems to be "linked" together... do you guys agree?

    • @XxSmoothGroovexX
      @XxSmoothGroovexX 8 лет назад +2

      You sure they ain't using slang. That sure as heck is the problem for most of you non natives. You gotta learn the slang as well. If you're listening to Americans, they tend to mumble a lot. Just saying

    • @carlettof6395
      @carlettof6395 8 лет назад +3

      +ImNotADeeJay I fully agree, I can write and speak nicely, but I can't I understand fast speech especially the US accent, due to the "linking" you mentioned. This irritates me a lot. I think that only living in America for at least one year will help me.

    • @ImNotADeeJay
      @ImNotADeeJay 8 лет назад

      The problem to me is that, unless you have the chance to be fully exposed to the language (i.e., moving to the US, UK, Australia...) is pretty hard to get the "ear" used to it. I try hard listening youtubes and subtitled movies very often, less is nothing...

    • @bianunes8281
      @bianunes8281 7 лет назад +2

      I totally agree, mate! It also happens with our mother language. People who are learning Portuguese for example, find the way some people speak really hard to understand. It depends on the context, how much school education the person has, economic matters, city location, speaker intention and so on. We call it lingusitic variation. The teacher in this nice video, for example, uses a different speed and pronounce words more clearly, because she wants that you fully understand the content, it's her work. If you do not understand, you never click her videos again, then profits per click won't exist. Certainly it is completely different when she's talking to her close friends or husband. Place, occasion and intention makes the tone...

    The way that you pronounce are really easy to listen and understand.
    But in fact, It's not likely easy. Every body talk very very fast and following their pronunciation. When I listen some english videos such as: TED talk. I really can't listen some words that I have known, seem they talk too fast or my listening skill still not to be good .
    I wonder if there are pronunciation formations for words.
    I often realize that they just pronounce some emphasized components of a word clearly and the others are not.
    Eg. The word: Appreciated , If I pronounce fully following a dictionary , you will hear "o-pri-shi-eit-tid". But I just hear "pri-shi-eit" when they said.
    Or The phrase of words: "Are going to think" , I just hear "Are going think", don't hear "to" word
    So, Are there fixed general formations to learn Or We must often listen the ways that they pronounce?

      +Tekaru Oka sometimes you can not understand what people are talking about in your native language, can you? so.. english is similar to it. in real conversation we don't need to identify every word. i sometimes listen english on TED, in fact it's difficult

      i think that is a skill that it can be achieve just with practice, practice and more practice.
      and what more important is you always should think in a positive way

      you should try American Accent Training book. We make liaisons when we speak, which makes us drag or omit sounds sometimes. (this in a native accent)
