I've watched quite a few American Hot Rod shows and Charlie was for sure one of
the best body shop painters I have seen.
I know this much he still young and time is on his side awesome work .
Boyd Coddington embodies everything wrong with the custom car business
He was a wonderful platform for all the other companies to use as an example of what not to do

The only reason I watched that show was to watch Charlie work. The man is incredible, his skill and his worh ethics are fantastic ! I was extremely happy when he left Boyds, and in typical form Boyd tried very hard to make it look like Charlie was the problem. Not the real fact that Boyd constantly abused Charlie and his dedication ! Hats off to you Charlie !!
Charlie got Boyd written on his for head he a NO body with out that reference.
Charlie paints Riddler winning cars, Boyd did not do anything for that to come about, it's all Charlie ! I would work for Charlie any day with his ethics ! Boyd treated everyone like crap, he was great but his head was way too big !
Charlie painted enough show cars for Boyd it made Riddler routine paint. Besides paint a lone don't win award. There 100s of good painter across country
Yes there are tons of good painters, BUT, for some people to say that Charlie's skill and work ethic was Boyd's doing is bullshit, it was all Charlie ! I would work for Charlie any day, never for Boyd and I am a retired Master Tech !

Charlie Hutton is an amazing painter. The funny thing is, I used paint my hot wheels, too. I refinish furniture now. I guess I have lacquer thinner running through my veins. Charlie's right, your favourite project is always the next one. There's always something new to learn with each one. I think I'll check out the PPG refinish page.
I own a collision repair shop and I would never work my employees in the manner he does. My working hours are 8 to 5 and Saturday & Sunday off . We schedule our work in a manner that is plausible to finish in the time frame of our hours of work , no late hours are cutting into the week end.

Charlie did not really want to leave Boyd, in the show he said Chip just wanted Charlie to paint one car and then he was going to return but Boyd said "You leave then dont come back".
Shows you what a class act Charlie is, Boyd treated him like shit, and a bad word does not come out of his mouth.
It's hard to imagine the industry without the collaboration and talent that Boyd brought to this industry. Let's not forget Jesse James :)
Yes their association ( Boyd & Charlie ) created a lot of nice cars, the point is Boyd took advantage of Charlie, and then talked to Charlie like he was an ass. Charlies is the winner and much more professional that Boyd ever was.

***** I don't think they slept together tbh. I think she liked him in one way or another. She's alot older than him though. Then again he did live with them for 2 years. Thats along time to get close to someone. Plus charlie seemed like a really likable guy.

Iam currently watching American hot rod second time round ,i cant help think that some of this show has been lost to some clever editing,You cant surely get rid of so many talented staff unless its all for tv or maybe Dwayne and boyd we're complete cunts ,RipBoyd

Charley is a good painter for sure, but There are a lot of talented people in the custom car building biz, why was it that Foose seem to think Boyds employees were the only one's from whom he could try to get to work for him, pretty clear it was more of Foose trying to F Boyd over, plain and simple and I don't care how you slice it, that is the truth.

+monkeymuggs boyds actually gathered a bunch of investors to invest in his company then filed for bankruptcy and kept the money! Screwed the investors!
All Boyd could do was bad mouth his competitors, that left his self righteous stuck up ways and did far better by leaving him.
Charlie seems way happy now. Looks great. Life away from Boyd is good!
