For a 20 dollar lid, I think it's worth the cost to 'see' if this lid works for you. Time will tell if this is a viable option for those who like to see their cook as it goes.
This might help with the lava cakes. I could watch them and when the top cooks towards the middle. I could pull the lid and turn off the heat. The residual heat could finish them off and I would have lava cakes instead of muffins.
The problem I see with the glass lid is. One hole instead of a series of equally spaced holes for heat circulation. Even with one hole plugged with the thermometer. There are still multiple holes for heat transfer.

I would think for an egg casserole this would really work well unless there's a lot of heat loss through the vent. Thanks for the interesting idea!
We've only done the one crustless quiche so far (video soon), but it was perfect.
