Thecatspajamas891 You’re right! Osipova almost always wears beaten up shoes. In ballet people place an unreasonable emphasis on arched metatarsals, which Osipova doesn’t naturally have, so my guess is that she prefers softer shoes because it’s much easier to point your feet in them.
marianela is so effortless and light on her feet. natalia is energetic and dynamic. sarah is delicate and very elegant in her movement. my three favourite ballet dancers in my opinion😍

Personally she may be superb technically but she has absolutely no instincts regarding acting,, musicality or individual expression. Every move, every head tilt, every facial expression, everything is calculated and plotted out for an effect. To me there’s no intrinsic artistry behind her absolutely perfect technique. She also tAkes her rubato over the limit. A great balance is definitely to be admired. We all know by now that Nela can balance indefinitely - no reason to be indiscriminately proving it.
The Royal Opera House has uploaded "La fille mal gardée", with Marianela Nuñez. I think it would be posted just for another week, and it is amazing! I was mesmerized.
Svetlana Shakorova not in it!! Nah, impossible, she not only should be in it, she absolutely is 1st rank, we have to talk about you leaving out a Prima Ballerina Assoluta.
Most lists on the internet about best ballerinas of all times don't even include Maya Plisetskaya, so it doesn't surprise me they didn't include Svetlana, it's as if they don't rank them based on their skills but based on other factors.
My granddaughter Brianna had such a good time dancing with you after the Nutcracker performance in 1000 Oaks. She was an evergreen tree. We have been reading all about your career and we hope your neck is better. Happy New Year from Brianna.
I think my top 4 favorites based on how captivating they are to watch with how effortless their technique is and how they’re incredibly lively yet exceptionally elegant at the same time are Nikisha, Anastasia, Evgenia, and Natalia.
Olesya Novikova is so underrated, but she has to be the greatest of all time... the perfect ballerina, could watch her for hours... Osipova is always fun to watch for athleticism, her feet are so strong...amazing dancer. I like when they hold extensions a little longer. Cojocaru also does this with grace and without too much obviousmuscle.
I'm totally an amateur but personally Olesya Novikova and Evgenia Obraztsova are my favs! They just look so fluid and soft and delicate especially their arms!
I enjoyed Fogo's performance. I think Osipova has more current same performance of what was included here. And the missing ballerina Zakharova I think she's very good too.
Phenomenal display of human female performance in one of the the most (if not THE MOST) difficult artistic "form" discipline. Brought tears to my eyes... It also makes me hopeful for the hidden grandeur of our species and confirms the majesty of our female gender as the central aspect of everything sublime and splendorous in our nature.. Thanks for this superb compilation!
Love them all! Also a huge fan of Beckanne Sisk at Ballet West. She's considered a prodigy, joined a company at 18 dancing principal roles at 19! She's 27 now I think and a principal dancer
Yes - Beckanne should be on this list as she is amazing! She is still amazing and her Rubies in Jewels had people gasping. She is also a wonderful person in life and her smile radiates from the stage all the way to the exit doors. Check out her performance in Onegin as it is spectacular!
And what happened to Zakharova who is still dancing at Bolshoi and Lunkina who is still dancing in National Ballet of Canada, two of the best? And no Vorontsova from Mikhailovsky?
Great choices! Shakirova has so much potential; I can see her being one of the best of our era one day. Nikisha is lovely and underrated. Katya is adorable in and brings fresh innocence to nearly all of her roles. Miriam’s bluebird is nice, but Yuhoi Choe will always have my heart in that role. Obratzsova reminds me of Gelsey Kirkland sometimes, in both her dancing and physical appearance. She truly looks like a young Gelsey, and just like Gelsey, Giselle is one of her greatest roles. I miss Alina at the Royal. :( She, Osipova, and Nela are the three queens of RB. I would say of all listed, Natalia Osipova is my favorite 💕
I have a ballerina friend, quite a beautiful, well known dancer, who had to stop her career. When she went (?) 'en point' and would spin on one toe, she would release violent farts, even heard over the orchestra. She would be in tears, but the public would be hysterically laughing. So sad and awful for her.
Difficult to choose between Nunez & Cojocaru! Lucky to have seen them both live. Fine dancers, but wonderful actors too - communicate so brilliantly with audiences.
I agree. Both have enormous range as well. I love Osipova too but always feel she shines in very dramatic rather than lyrical roles or the quirkiness of an Ashton ballet.
Watching this confirms to me my preference for dancers trained at Vaganova - and I prefer the Mariinksky style to the Bolshoi. Marianela is an exception to this "Vaganova preference" - she's incredible as always.
All extraordinary but uniquely exceptional in my eyes is Nikisha Fogo. So fluid! Her body flows like molten metal. Just breathtaking. Thank you for sharing!
I suspect marianela might be your favorite because of the role she is playing swan lake which is a gorgeous rule and very aesthetically beautiful. If you were to watch the other Russians that are sublimely talented and gorgeous and even rules that are not nearly as beautiful as swan lake, I think you would change your opinion. Watch Natalia osipova do swan lake or Svetlana Khorkeeva.. stunning
Is number 7 being performed at Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth TX?? The layout, textures of the walls down to the lighting placement looks exactly like it!!
These are the truly blessed. Years of training, pain and sacrifice given freely to star and open a window into he sublime, if only for a moment. We can never thank you enough.
I wish ballet dancers got the credit and appreciation all of the popular dance show performers get today! I mean ballet is sexy, beautiful, elegant and takes real talent. It should be in the mainstream more. Not to be trendy like everything else but ballet is an excellent form of dance that should be more prominant in our culture. imo
Nikisha Fogo, sells me the story the best. when i walk away from this thats who i'm remembering and i dont think thats an insinuation that shes the most gifted or most talented, or the most skilled, but her ability to serve a story a platter is impeccable, shes talented and yes she is skilled, but it goes beyond foot work and posture when i see that, with Nikisha it seemed like as art form head to toe rather than some others where it was either all footwork or all posture and bounce in the step, but i think but i think here at least in my opinion Nikisha blended it all together, the best.
I know absolutely nothing about techniques, but ohhh how glad am I to see Alina on this list!!!! The first time I saw Giselle, I was completely blown away by how good she conveyed the expression of a young girl, her aura is so refreshing & innocent. Can't help but falling in love.
@@thesilvershiningis Marinella your favorite of all time or just from these performances because she happened to have the most beautiful role of them all posted here in swan lake. If you watch Svetlana Khorkeeva or Natalia Osipova perform swan lake, or there's another Russian as well I forgot her name, you will cry it is gorgeous and far superior to Marianela. You must remember, not all rules are created equal and some are more beautiful than others just by virtue of the nature of the role. If you look up the Russians doing swan lake it is unbeatable

I could not believe it. I feel like she had to put an American so she put Tiler, somebody that most people have never heard of or care to watch on the list instead of Svetlana one of the greatest dancers of this generation! It is a crime it's an insult and no serious ballet connoisseur takes this list seriously without her give me a break
Sarah Lamb??? This was such a bug surprise... have you seen her dance live??? She is like a handicapped next to Nunez and Osipova... i am surprised that Irina Kolesnikova and Misty Copeland are not in the list. I don’t think anyone can dance La Bayadere the way Irina can... but that is my personal opinion...
Misty Copleand is nowhere close to be at the top as she has serious issues with her technique. Now, Zakharova's not being on the list is a different question. Or Vishneva. I'd put Batoeva there as well.
Nice list, very nice. Especially love seeing my favorites- Krysanova, Genia, Sarah, and Osipova- and some new faces, too! (My heart will always belong to Lopatkina.) That's a nice Odette by Nunez, but I almost feel bad for a non-Russian dancer in the role- they just get the arms/shoulders/back like very few others can. Something in the water, lol. It makes sense for Zakharova to not be on here, imho, since one of SuperBalletGirl's criterion is being an active dancer (it's also okay for her to simply not be someone's favorite!!!). Sveta's so much more of a guest/touring artist now, not really doing consistent extended runs with her home company. At this point in her career she's more like Diana Vishneva - can pick and choose all around the world.
I feel like some of the first few were average ballet dancers. I noticed bad technique in some: not pointing feet, not being fully en pointe, messy placement of feet etc. the last ones were definitely great though.
Very lovely list. I am partial to American dancers, just my preference. Love Tiler Peck, Sterling Hyltin, Isabella Boylston. But your list is fantastic.
starstarlightful Same here!! Smirnova is clearly the number one at the Bolshoi now, as Zakharova is nearing the end of her career. And since the Bolshoi is definitely a top company, it’s quite obvious that this video is just the personal preference of the person who owns the channel. I really wish that people would admit it if they post their very personal favourites, regardless of the success and career of other top dancers. But I guess you get more clicks if the channel looks like an „official“ ranking 🙄
I would love to one day see ballet studios that also cater to those less fortunate children born into low income households. It teaches not only the art of dance but grace, good lifetime posture and many benefits for living a healthy lifestyle and meeting positive people who want to be a productive member of society.
I couldn’t stop myself to appreciate these people’s talent. They are such a gem. I never knew about this type of dance being called Ballerina dance and these dancers made me to look for more details on Google. Not a second is wasted watching this video.
Oh my goodness, how miss live performance! I long for that tingle of anticipation that thrills through you as the curtain raises, that rustle of excitement when the principal dancers enter from stage left, the pause of pure joy before thunderous applause, and dancing may way home in my head! Oh Covid, when will you let me enjoy this again?!

Which Russian Ballerina are you talking about? they are not all ballerinas. they are dancers.
Nonsens callng russian dancers as Roboter only just because you cannot becpme better. . Russian are extremely well feel music and in generell have better coordination as europeans. It ts genetical. And to not forget, speaking of other ballet schools - USA, british, french, any other- you will find there russians as dancers, as chaoreograchs, directory. So all these Otter style are very mich ingluenced by russians as well.
Why is nobody talking about how perfect is Marianela Núñez? She is the best in my opinion.
I propose to your attention to thoroughly see and compare all those four ballerinas, the top best according to the author of the video! I made this video on purpose! ☝ ruclips.net/video/Ve76_WHJF2Q/видео.html ☝
Totally agree :)
Bc tv
Personally she may be superb technically but she has absolutely no instincts regarding acting,, musicality or individual expression. Every move, every head tilt, every facial expression, everything is calculated and plotted out for an effect. To me there’s no intrinsic artistry behind her absolutely perfect technique. She also tAkes her rubato over the limit. A great balance is definitely to be admired. We all know by now that Nela can balance indefinitely - no reason to be indiscriminately proving it.
I think she is very expresive. In her performances she gives all of her and I think she really loves to dance.
Thanks for uploading this.
I love ballet and you made me a precious gift with that.
The Royal Opera House has uploaded "La fille mal gardée", with Marianela Nuñez. I think it would be posted just for another week, and it is amazing! I was mesmerized.
IShe is wonderful: grace, technique, personality. That ballet shows all these features and more.
So glad I watched this . Such Beautiful performers . Amazing!!!
Svetlana Shakorova not in it!! Nah, impossible, she not only should be in it, she absolutely is 1st rank, we have to talk about you leaving out a Prima Ballerina Assoluta.
So true! Smirnova and Vishneva as well
Absolutely! Svetlana is more beautiful than any of these dancers!
You mean Svetlana Zakharova. She's the best!
Zakharova , the BEST!!!
Most lists on the internet about best ballerinas of all times don't even include Maya Plisetskaya, so it doesn't surprise me they didn't include Svetlana, it's as if they don't rank them based on their skills but based on other factors.
2:50 I didn't expect her to be so good. Wow.
I'm not interested in ballerina dancing, i do like more hip-hop but here I am... Watching... This is awesome!!! So majestic!!!
My granddaughter Brianna had such a good time dancing with you after the Nutcracker performance in 1000 Oaks. She was an evergreen tree. We have been reading all about your career and we hope your neck is better. Happy New Year from Brianna.
La tecnica y la elegancia de las bailarinas rusas es insuperable,so increibles de buenas que son...viva Rusia!!!
I think my top 4 favorites based on how captivating they are to watch with how effortless their technique is and how they’re incredibly lively yet exceptionally elegant at the same time are Nikisha, Anastasia, Evgenia, and Natalia.
its hurts my toes just watching 6:22
Thanks for highlighting Mariinsky ballerinas. They are a sensational company but too often overshadowed by Bolshoi.
In summary: a dance that looks like humans acting out birds having a conversation
I enjoyed Fogo's performance. I think Osipova has more current same performance of what was included here. And the missing ballerina Zakharova I think she's very good too.
Wow I love Renata's dance. Extraordinary! Also Alina, wow the energy. Superb
What beautiful dancers! Thank you so much for sharing!
Lovely ballerinas and so special to see, thank you for sharing
Nikisha Fogo ws the best to me. My favorite.
who's here after watching Pretty tiny things lol
lmao
What a disappointment that show was lol
I'm going to ballet class in 3 days I'm so excited
@@Fandomonium456 indeed
Meee😅
Russian girls are born to be ballerina, its just in their blood . They are divine!!! Ulyana Lopatkina🙌🙌
they work the hardest and it shows
Lopatkina was born in Crimea, Ukraine.
All russsian schooled ballerinas has very nice fluid and easy-aired hands
I have a ballerina friend, quite a beautiful, well known dancer, who had to stop her career. When she went (?) 'en point' and would spin on one toe, she would release violent farts, even heard over the orchestra. She would be in tears, but the public would be hysterically laughing. So sad and awful for her.
Maryanne Tesh this made me laugh 😂
Difficult to choose between Nunez & Cojocaru! Lucky to have seen them both live. Fine dancers, but wonderful actors too - communicate so brilliantly with audiences.
I agree. Both have enormous range as well. I love Osipova too but always feel she shines in very dramatic rather than lyrical roles or the quirkiness of an Ashton ballet.
Agree completely! Their technique is so solid that they can act without compromising it.
I must have missed it... did she dance here?
@@crieverytim Yes, she was #13.
@@soude85 thank you! Yes she was quite good, really convincing storytelling
Sarah Lamb has such a style that makes it look effortless. She impresses me
Marianela is my favorite 🤍🥺✨ her musicality and interpretation are just out of this world! ☺️ but they’re all incredible
Watch Natalia osipova do swan lake or Svetlana Khorkeeva.. stunning
You are right! Marianela is my favorite
Is number 7 being performed at Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth TX?? The layout, textures of the walls down to the lighting placement looks exactly like it!!
Number 1- great choice 😊. She’s my favourite.
Yessss!! Alina!!
I love how Natalia did her firebirds in her Don Quixote variation it was soo pretty!
I Always LOVE to watch the female ballet dancers dance perfectly!! 😁❤️
I would have liked to see Maria Khoreva (at Mariinsky) included in the list - beautiful lines and extremely talented.
Not to be trendy like everything else but ballet is an excellent form of dance that should be more prominant in our culture. imo
Amen!!!
@@hi-ve1cw new country without traditions and brainwash machine too
the people in USA forget your traditions and heritage
Novikova as Raymonda, Giselle, Odette/Odile or anything for that matter. She shines.
how is oleysa novikova not principle yet?????? i am MAD.
So beautiful, and they make it look so effortless. Decades of education, work, and rehearsal and unbelievable talent is all it takes, after all.
I know absolutely nothing about techniques, but ohhh how glad am I to see Alina on this list!!!! The first time I saw Giselle, I was completely blown away by how good she conveyed the expression of a young girl, her aura is so refreshing & innocent. Can't help but falling in love.
"Competitions are for horses not artists."
Bela Bartok
Horses are great artists. Ballet dancers are great artists.
That's a cool quote :) Is it like a way of saying that the best person to compete with is yourself?
19:38 made my heart stop
Marianela is my favorite-so good she makes me cry in fact 😭♥️
@@thesilvershiningis Marinella your favorite of all time or just from these performances because she happened to have the most beautiful role of them all posted here in swan lake. If you watch Svetlana Khorkeeva or Natalia Osipova perform swan lake, or there's another Russian as well I forgot her name, you will cry it is gorgeous and far superior to Marianela. You must remember, not all rules are created equal and some are more beautiful than others just by virtue of the nature of the role. If you look up the Russians doing swan lake it is unbeatable
@@primalcritters we still prefer Nella. Thank you.
Ossipiva is the real number 1. Even the orchestra has to increase the speed to keep up with her
There are all so amazing. I started watch my jaw dropped immediately
Me and my two older sisters were enrolled in ballet, tap, jazz and baton when I was 4 years old, my sisters were three and four years older than me. Our mother died when she was 31 years old from a brain aneurysm. I was six years old. The dance lessons stopped. It all stopped. I would have given anything to be a ballerina. I could watch it all day. Thanks for sharing.
I'm sorry to read that 😔.
I'm 30 years old and would love to be a ballerina. The music, the technical perfection, the costumes. Everything is so beautiful. Even the lifestyle; I know it's difficult but the discipline is something beautiful in my eyes.
Next year I will start some kind of dance. It's not all lost for us.
I hope you will enjoy the world of ballet in some way.
I wish you the best!!!
@@lucianaleiva518 Thank You, so are so sweet. Unfortunrtly I have severe nerve damage in my back now. I live in chronic pain. I also have foot drop in both feet and wear braces on my feet. I still love ballet. I will sit here at night and turn everything off and watch ballet all night on my iPad. It comforts me,, I love the beauty of it. I even say it wouldn’t matter to me if I was a principal dancer or not. I would just love to be on the stage performing and be part of assemble. As long as there is ballet to keep watching I will be happy. 😀
Brilliant Compilation with many of my favs!! Olesya N.! Nela Nunez! Renata S., Alina C.! I fondly picked up a couple new favs too: Nikisha Fogo(wow) Maia M.(lovely) Sarah Lamb, Anastasia K... YET..I wonder where is S.Zakharova, M.Koreva, and May Nagahisa in this compilation?!?!? Just saying... while the former is indubitably a Queen already, the latter two are on a fast track to their own worldwide GREATNESS!!!
excuse me,where is Zakharova and Lopatkina?and for me Nunez and Osipova are the best.I didn't see ballerina with such incredible jump, like Osipova, may be Galina Samsova.
Where is Svetlana Zacharova? I thought she would be number 1. She is perfect. Great list though 👍❤️
Svetlana Zacharova is absolute perfection in my eyes - but she is mostly retired from performance at this stage of her career.
@@arthrodea I don't think so... yes, maybe she isn't dancing as much as before, but she's still active on stage :) For example I know she should have danced La Dame aux Camèlias at the Bolshoi in this month
The description says this is reflecting dancers of 2020 and Zakharova’s prime was in the early 00s.
I was wondering the same thing...for me she is top 3 along with Natalia Osipova and Marianela Núñez.
Jeeees
I’m here because I watched “ Tiny pretty things “ on Netflix and I wanted to know more about ballet 😆
Maybe it is just me, but I find it criminal that Svetlana Zakharova is not on this list.
Jennie, i could not believe it that Svetlana Zhakarova, such a great born dancer was not in the list!
(My heart will always belong to Lopatkina.)
That's a nice Odette by Nunez, but I almost feel bad for a non-Russian dancer in the role- they just get the arms/shoulders/back like very few others can.
Osipova has been one of my favorites for a while.
Isabella Boylston, are you kidding!? ABT needs a huge change in the selection of principal dancers.
Ugh. Yuck
in that second one, I really thought the people in the background were part of the painting o.o
So, so sublime. Unearthly beautiful. Inspiring. A gift from Heaven this is; the only explanation for such lovely creatures as these!
Where was Olga Smirnova? I saw her do Giselle last year at the Bolshoi and she was dazzling!
starstarlightful Same here!!
Missing Anzhelina Vorontsova. Shes been prima in Mikhailivskyi theatre for several years now. And she's breathtaking. Especially her Giselle❤
Wow.. All fantastic.. My personal favourite is Nina Kaptsova.. Love her
I would love to one day see ballet studios that also cater to those less fortunate children born into low income households.
It teaches not only the art of dance but grace, good lifetime posture and many benefits for living a healthy lifestyle and meeting positive people who want to be a productive member of society.
I literally cannot breathe. Such beautiful artistry. As a former ballet dancer, I cannot imagine rising to this level of expert. So amazing.
Gorgeous ! 😍 😍
But where's Diana Vishneva ? She's one truely DANCING!!
