What a pleasure this list was. I have seen a good amount of these couples, but will seek out the ones I have not seen. It's hard to believe there are such attractive, talented people in the World, who can convey so much emotional range and beauty. I congratulate all of them on their achievement; and I am grateful to all the people who trained or supported them. Art like this isn't cheap or easy. I also would like to acknowledge all the great couples who did not make this list. Ballet is amazing!
Super collection SuperBalletgirl. Agree with others that Osipova and Vasiliev were special - firework virtuosity. I hope she gets tired of the semi-modern pieces and goes back to the classics. To see her dance these classic roles is an unforgettable experience.

Yes, i fully agree, Zhakarova-Bolle, such great chemistry like in la Bayadere and superb dancers. Zhakarova was even omitted in the 15 best female dancers, that is incredible!
Ould-Braham and Heymann are wonderful together. I remember their Swan Lake, it was breathtaking! I would add Gilbert/Marchand and Dupont/Legris to that list. When Aurélie Dupont and Manuel Legris danced together, you knew you would spend an unforgettable evening at the opera. ❤️
I remember Oneguin in 2012 in Paris with Ganio excellent. I am surprised that we d ont have Tereshkina wit Kim both of them technically perfect and a great interpretation

But, with all my love for Ganio and Pagliero, their partenrship was wonderful in Onegin, but it's not a regular one. See about Dorothee Gilbert with Hugo Marchand. Any of their common performances is a kind of miracle.

I would have thought Iana Selenko with Simkin {or anyone}. Aren't He and Korechkova with completely different companies? It's hilarious to see Nela Nunez as Gamzatti with Muntigirov because she also dances Nikiya. I'm envisioning some crazy post-modernist Bayadere with the same ballerina in both parts and everything taking place in his head {he can't sort out if his dream lover is the spoiled rich girl or the innocent dancer driven by things of the spirit lols!
Nunez is more well-known to dance gamzatti. She was just given the nikiya role many years after playing just gamzatti; her debut with nikiya was with soares (a few years before they divorced) if im not mistaken. For me personally, nunez-soares is a better partnership than nunez-muntagirov.
@@migiyoga6926 I thought her debut was the one with Muntigirov they broadcast around Christmas a year or so ago (but I'm in US and dependent on YT!) Soares was a good partner for her but her technique is at such a level that she seems more evenly matched with Muntigirov. One good thing about Cojacaru and Rojo leaving was it cleared the way for Nunez to get roles like Nikiya and Aurora (although she was a great Gamatti and Lilac). Still have only seen snippets of her Giselle and can only dream about what her mad scene was like! Amazing that she can credibly do both sorts of roles (I have a vid of her Myrtha, which is a best-ever).

Yes technically vadim is better (especially as a soloist) but as for partnering work, soares can really give the support nela needed. I think soares is the stronger and more stable one when it comes to the lifts.
I also love Iana Salenko with bot Steven McRae and Daniil Simkin. But such a fan of Sarah Lamb and Maria Kochetkova, who i think is special aswell. Loads of great people around, but definitely missing Iana on here, too.

Cojocaru and Koborg my absolute favorite couple! They spoke the same ballet language, a language I understand. And what can I say about the fantastic and underrated Stashkevich and Lopatin? I think they have not even danced Don Quichote in their company... I saw Stashkevich dancing Kitri and she was perfect for that role
Nunes and Muntagarov, Osipova and Vasiliev share number 1. I wish Osipova and Vasiliev danced together longer. Cojocaru retired long ago. She really belongs to a different generation. Other than that all duets are good, but nothing special because ballet dancers dance with a lot of partners and do not have longevity in duet with them.

I personally prefer her with Vasiliev and him with Obraztsova. I had tickets to see them in Swan Lake last spring which didn't happen due to COVID. Who knows how this list might have been different if the performance had gone forward!

I have been watching as much RUclips videos about ballet as I can find and between the videos and the books I am reading, all I hear about is Nureyev and Fonteyn being the greatest ballet partnership of all time. Which raised a few questions for me: 1- what makes a great partnership? 2- How come there has been no partnership to rival theirs since Fonteyn retired? 3- Do ballet dancers take acting lessons at some point? I see perfect technique in all of these clips but the only couple that moved my soul was Matthew Ball and Yasmine Naghdi in Romeo and Juliet (Royal Ballet). Their balcony pas de deux was on another level in terms of acting. I really would like someone to answer these questions for me. Hmmmmm!

First, if Fonteyn and Nureyev are considered the greatest partnership of all times, to me they looked more like a mother dancing with her son (allright people, relax, it's my opinion). There has been some legendary couples like Ekaterina Maximova and Vladimir Vassiliev who were husband and wife and to me are unforgettable (but dancers don't have to be husband and wife to be a good partnership). What makes a great partnership? Chemistry. A balance between the two, it's hard to explain. Matching? There has been great partnerships since Fonteyn & Nureyev, Alina Cojocaru & Johan Kobborg to name one. Do dancers take acting lessons, not that I know. I've watched that balcony scene you're talking about and was moved, too. There is another great partnership to me, Olga Smirnova and Semyon Chudin (The taming of the shrew). Exactly, Maximova and Vasiliev are unforgettable. Galina Ulanova and Konstantin Segeev in Romeo and Juliet were the first interpreters and the best ever duet in that ballet. When they dance you see them together. Most of the time people see only a ballerina, but not her partner.
j'aime and alban are such an amazing duo, they work very well together! ida praetorius and andreas kaas are a particularly good pair from the royal danish ballet too, their performances in giselle and romeo and juliet were phenomenal! but i must know, where did you get the video of j'aime and alban? i've always wanted to see them do the full flower festival!
The segment with the dancer named Ludmila Pagliero has some of the most ridiculous choreography that I have ever seen. How could a choreographer and an artistic director have decided together that this would look good?
