The characters on the show are especially amusing to those of us who remembered the actors from other series. Rue McClanahan, who plays Blanche, was previously in "Maude", the tv show that starred Bea Arthur who plays Dorothy here. She was Maude's somewhat conservative neighbor and did not have the southern accent. Bette White, who is innocent Rose here, played Sue Ann Nivens on The Mary Tyler Moore Show. Her character was more like Blanche and was known for her sexual exploits. This just goes to show how versatile our golden girls are!
all 4 won the highest honor in TV here in US- the Emmy for their roles in The Golden Girls- all won once over the 7 years they were on (and each were nominated 5-7 times each).
Tv was good back then , I was younger and not into tv.My parents who were about the age I am now loved this show and several more . I would walk into their house and they would be watching this just a laughing.
I have to say Blanche was my favorite because she got a lot of the more dramatic storylines in the show. Rue McClanahan was an excellent dramatic actress.
When Rose said that she wanted to be butter queen, and Blanche said what an actress, she thought Rose was referring to the actress who played Prissy in Gone With the Wind. Her name was Butterfly McQueen. 😂 You guys are a little young to remember who that is.
The Golden Girls was such an awesome show! Very funny, & fun entertainment! Loved all of them but Rose was my favorite played by Betty White! As always great video. Love your channel! 💯👍🇺🇲
Loved vampy Blanche the best😂 Without Rue's excellent comedic timing, the great writing, and ensemble cast, Blanche could have been really off-putting, or worse, pathetic clown. Instead, she was witty, funny, absurd, and a fantastic character.
The actresses that played Rose and Blanche originally played opposite characters on prior TV shows and were almost cast as the opposite because of that. Just look up Betty White and Sue Ellen Nivens on Mary Tyler Moore.
Comedy should never be described as 'of it's time'. Too many people being offended and outraged over stuff that has zero impact on them. Comedy pokes fun at everything and everyone, nothing is 'safe'. The Two Ronnies are gold, as are these 'girls'. I keep changing my mind on which one is my favourite. Sofia and Dorothy are probably the ones most like me, and when I'm due my B12 jab I'm definitely like Rose. And truthfully, I think everyone has a bit of Blanche in them somewhere 😂😂😂
Blanch is my favorite of the Golden Girls and Sofia is probably my second favorite. Unfortunately, this video on Blanch is only a small smattering of her funniest moments. Wish there was a better collection out there of her best moments. I really admire Rue Mclanahan and her superb acting on the Golden Girls! She really played the Hell out of Blanch! Most interesting fact is: at first, she wasn’t even being considered for the role of Blanch when she first auditioned and read for this TV comedy show/sitcom. Betty White, in fact, was supposed to play Blanch. In all honesty, even though Betty is an incredible actress too, I don’t believe that she could have possibly done better with the role of Blanch than Rue.

Don't forget that both Blanche and rose were both in mamas family/the Eunice show
I'm so so glad that you have continued the Golden Girls Journey.
It was one of the best comedy series of all time.😂😅
Yeah brilliant 🤩
All the back & forth between them is what made the show.

Yes, I noticed the guy on the right looked confused. I'm glad you explained it.
You know what...you guys wearing these Santa outfits during the reaction...was the first night that it felt like Christmas, for some reason.
Love the Santa suits! The Golden Girls are always great entertainment.

💯👍🇺🇲
Too funny! Loved this.
Look at you two dashing dudes!
My favorite golden girl was Dorothy. We're both very sarcastic and not afraid to tell the truth about someone we don't like at the time.
Love this show
Shirley Eaton in Goldfinger!
Rue McLanahan's character Vivian in Maude was hard to take, but she sure redeemed herself as Blanche!

All great actors! Hope you react to more GG. Check out the episode called, "Twas the Nightmare Before Christmas".
