    Oh, I'm glad to see more about this brand. I recently learned of their level of quality in the speed run world, and it's next level compared to a Limitless. This is really smart with the ARTR in my opinion for 3 reasons. You can build the truck how you want, it's a lower price with no electronics, and nobody can cry about how it's 'too slow' or the 'servo stinks' because you choose what goes in it. 👍

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  5 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, I like this too. Very quick to get up and running but still all yours to make how you want. I need to look at more of their stuff, I think.

    Bought 2 used older versions of these years ago. They had jammin jay alloy upgrades and spares galore. I drove the wheels off them every day for years. Sold one to a mate and it's still going strong. Very tough,well built truck from a company that's been around for some time now.

    That Hobao looks very good. I'm glad to see the short course comparison again, I recently got a second-hand Proline Pro-Fusion Sc 4x4 and it reminds me of the Hobao Hyper 10SC in terms of a light and well-made car.

    Btw, the dogbones will wear before the cups, but it'll take you a while to do it.!
    I've had hundreds of packs through mine over the past 3 years or so.!!!
    I've recently given it a much deserved freshen up with new bearings, hubs, pillow balls etc but it's still 100% original running gear.
    I run a 3660/3900kv motor with a Hobbywing WPSC8, 120 amp, 4S ESC usually only on 3S in mine, I also drive mostly on tarmac & I use it often & HARD.!! 👍 👍
    It'll take 5 foot jumps onto tarmac all day long... You should see the underside of the chassis on mine.!
    I've almost ground the heads off the countersunk screws.!! 😁😁
    The body is also extremely durable with only a couple of small cracks in it, I've crashed the thing a lot, sometimes bouncing off things like curbs & trees at quite high speed.!!
    The body will actually dent before it will crack.!!

      @@RCTNT I ran one of these at my local track about 10-12 years ago. I had both the Jammin' and the Hyper. Basically the same. I had a bunch of issues because the track was an 1/8 scale big jump track. The shock towers bent and the axel nuts kept stripping out. Front and rear bumpers were much more brittle. I think I only finished one weekend without breaking it. I ended up switching out to a losi the next year.

      @troysampson3055 I understand they increased the shock tower strength in 2018, which is this model shown here. But everything has its limits - the next video I publish was also from a 2018 model and its positively brittle compared to this one!

    I've got a couple of FTX Zorros that my son and I run, and I've been looking for a step up from the cheaper trucks, that the Zorro certainly is. The smiles per £ from them is undoubtedly great, but I'm after something a bit better quality, so I'm definitely going to have a look at this. 👍🏻

    Just a heads up mate, the gearing is mod 1. Luv Hobao's, so much under the radar. I have 5 or 6 different Hoabao models, I have the 1/10 Hyper TT truggy which is the same platform as this 10SC. Just a shorter wheelbase chassis to the 10SC, Hobao have just released this week a brand new version of the Hyper TT 1/10 truggy platform. This is a ground up redesigned version, hopefully they will include a new version 10SC on this new platform going forward.

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  5 месяцев назад

      It's definitely 32p on this model.
      But they're brilliant aren't they. I'll look at the MTX soon and the TT 2.0 is on my watch list! Cheers

    • @gillian9178

      @@RCTNT That is strange, Hobao list the pinion & spur as mod1 on both the 10SCT & the TT truggy. My TT is def mod1 for sure.

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  5 месяцев назад

      I'll have to look again. The reason I was so sure was that I recall pulling out a few different pinions from my 32p section when I was considering gearing for this motor. It's possible I'm wrong, of course. Will check.
      Either way, for this class of machine, I'd expect 32p to stand up to most anything you could throw at it, if it is 32p. My only gripe with gearing is when companies fit 48p to off road 1/10 models!

    One of my favorite reviews so far, Craig! Love the left field brands that are actually low-key quality products. I think both Hobao an PR Racing don't get the credibility they deserve.
    Seems like a very well thought out SC. Details like the rounded off side bumpers and body "roll hoop" are very nice and aren't "compulsory", should you decide to go all "lightweight" with it.
    I'd love you to have a look at the Hobao SC ARTR 1/8 one as well... =D

    This is another excellent review. It looks like a great SCT. I've been tempted before, but I never pulled the trigger. Hobao is one of the companies that needs more P.R. in the U.S. They make a lot of interesting cars and trucks. They are known 1/8 scale cars. I was unaware that they make a crawler until I saw it on their site. But, from what I've seen it's been around for many years and is a good trail truck and not a great crawler.

      @@RCTNT I watched a couple of reviews from some time back. One was highly critical of it's climbing ability, being extremely top heavy. Another was more of basher type and I called his videos crash crawling and it held up well. He did a second video which he titled something like mud bogging. He drove through a lot of water filled ruts and pot holes. It ended up on its side and top. What was interesting was that there was little or no mud on the inside of chassis because of the way the body fit and especially the internal wheel wells.

    Hobao make some fantastic RCs.!
    Especially their 6S capable 1/8 stuff.
    I've got 6 of them, including an 10SC.
    It's a very nice driving truck, it's one of the best flying/jumping trucks I've ever had, the running gear is extremely durable & can handle 4S with ease, but honestly, 3S is more than enough.!!
    It's pretty lightweight construction &
    It's not really a hardcore basher, it's far better suited to the track.!
    But that doesn't stop me from bashing it... HARD.! 😉
    I've broken the suspension arm pins a few times, but that was after hitting big rocks & curbs at speed... Sooo.. 😉
    If you're not familiar with Hobao then you truly don't know what you're missing.!
    They're seriously high quality RCs on a par (if not better) than any other top manufacturer.!!!

    Hi Craig, just wondering which SCT you prefer this HABAO or the Team associated PRO4 SC10? I'm wanting to pick one up but just can't decide . The HOBAO seems to have all the high quality components with the alloy shocks etc and the choice to run your own electronics is a bonus but there's no denying the TA runs beautifully .. If there's anyone who'd know I reckon you're the man to ask. Thanks mate.

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  4 месяца назад +1

      If it's between these two and I'm putting in the parts I used in this car, the Hobao is an easy choice.
      For sure the Pro4 is a great value RTR, but it just doesn't come close to the refinement of the Hobao, even moreso when you can choose the electronics (and what I used in this one seems pretty much perfect, it's a lovely runner).
      The Pro4 will probably be a better abusive driver/hard basher. But for every other scenario, the Hobao here wins, for my money.
      (and the Tekno is a step up again in refinement and toughness, if you want the best of both)

      @RCTNT the SCT's i have are the Losi SCTE 3.0 and the Troy Lee SCT, ones the kit model and the other is the RTR. They were built primarily as SCT's with a much more substantial chassis. Although they are pretty light I think the Hobao has a much better power to weight ratio. I'm going to get a 10SC and install the same electrics as the Lisi SCT's and compare the 2. I love doing that kind of thing, really brings out the nerd in me :)
