It's on the back of the pump, where the injector lines come out just above them, might still have a cap on it from the factory you'll have to pry it off and there will be a 12mm lock nut and an 8mm stud hanging out with a screwdriver slot in it, screw it in for more fuel and out for less fuel,

Fuel enrichment screw is in the opposite side of where you were fiddling with the throttle limit screw.
Mine was smoking bad even after adjusting for lesser fuel delivery...so I recalibrated the injectors still got some black smoke even though its much lesser now.

Mine isn’t smoking at all and is pretty low on power, could I just turn the fuel screw up until it starts smoking, then back off?

@axa removed the injectors and took it to pump service centre. They pressure tested and found it low. Cleaned it and added tiny shims behind springs to bring it up to recommended nozzle opening pressure. They advised to change nozzles as it was old and getting worn. Still smokes even though it's lesser. Now on checking the pump setting the person i bought the car from had advanced the pump timing by quite a lot. To bring it back and check will be my next step.

@@sterlingmakara i am no expert but you could tighten the enrichment screw a tad bit and see. There is a small hole in the enrichment screw. In my case i loosened the screw..i brought back the hole from 12 to 10 o'clock.

Look down under the throttle cam you will see a oval bolt with a centre pin .the pump needs adjustment every 40 thousand km there is a advance and retard inside the pump when you adjust the fuel pressure it will also adjust the timing adjust the pressure when the engine is hot idling at 900 rpm

      Update:
my problem with the black smoke was something else. It was my fuel primer diaphragm leak/damage🤦. Less fuel was entering the pump. I am still wondering how less fuel coming from the filter assembly caused the black smoke issue??? After changing the filter assembly i had to screw back to the original setting that is for more fuel. Black smoke is gone. Pickup has improved and mileage much better. I am still at a loss about how a defective fuel filter assembly can cause so many issues. Longer start, engine vibration at idle, black smoke, high fuel consumption, low pick up.

You need a fuel pressure adjustment tool to adjust fuel pressure adjust to 0.20 bar

Do not adjust adjust the screw at the rear of the pump this will dump too much fuel
