I have the 3L prado lj95. 110kmph @3k+ rpm..going beyond 120 the howling engine+drivetrain would cause deafness. The g52 transmission should have been given a taller 5th gear.
Yes I agree a taller 5th gear would’ve been nice. Perhaps different diff ratios even? I’m not sure

No it shouldnt. Maybe if you left the tape on there and drove around until it was hot enough to melt then it may melt and get stuck on the pipe

Some gardening places have the potassium nitrate, I think it came from a farm supply store and the Sulfur is also available at gardening places I believe and I can’t remember for sure but I think it came from woolies

I have the 5L (non turbo) in my Hiace. I get about 130 out of it, max
That doesn’t seem too bad
@DodgyOperations the old H100 hiace is probably a bit more aerodynamic than a Hilux (lower to the ground, quite a narrow vehicle). And I gave it a longer go than you as I was in the Northern Territory where 130 was the speed limit. It may also have higher gearing, at 130 in 5th I think I was at 4500 revs, and it didn't sound bad, the car just stopped getting quicker 😅
