Sohyang (pronounced as “So-Young”) she is from South Korea. I’m 73 years old and to me she is the greatest singer I’ve ever heard in my life. She not only a great singer but a beautiful person both inside and out. She first began singing in her local community, with no aspirations of pursuing a career as a professional singer. She was offered numerous contracts from major record companies, but she turned them down, because it would interfere with the plans God had for her. She is a devout Christian and has said that her goal in life is to use her voice to comfort people who are going through difficult times. She knows what hard times is like, her parents divorced when she was in her third year of high school and due to this, she experienced a lot of financial difficulties and was often very sad and she said that it was music that helped her through these difficult times. At the age of twenty she got married and soon after was diagnosed with uterine cancer, which she was able to survive, and she gives the credit to God. She is also an author of children books since 2013. Another thing is that she does all the arrangements for the songs she sings. SHE IS THE BEST EVER

So Hyang is a 45 year old devout Christian and gospel singer from South Korea. Bridge over troubled water is a very popular song by Simon & Garfunkel that has been covered many times. Sohyang's cover was amazing. The change from soft and intimate vocals to full on belt was fantastic. She is one of the best in my opinion.

She only wants to sing for charities, churches and while doing missionary work, to strengthen those suffering through difficult times. David Foster, Josh Groban, Michael Bolton and others have all eagerly worked with her when they were in Asia. She contracted hepatitis B from a blood transfusion during her cancer surgery and it clings to her to this day. Six years ago I found Sohyang. I haven’t and won’t ever tire of her. There is no one who can do so much with her voice and at the same time, emote such passion. She is a storyteller with the best voice in the world. Thanks for supporting this very special woman!
I've been watching So Hyang reactions for probably 5+ years, and I still check to find new ones every once in a while, even just to revisit her songs in general. There are singers. There are storytellers. There are artists. And then there's So Hyang.
One of the best singers out there. You should definitely react to her performance of Everyone. She has said even herself that it was one of the hardest songs vocally for her to sing. It is an out of this world performance. She is such a powerhouse.

I love when new people discover this wonderful singer,it brings back the feeling of seeing her for the first time,and I have to say a little bit of sadness that it took me until I was in my fifties to discover a talent that the whole world should know about.this period of her career was undoubtedly her finest but don't be fooled she is still magnificent today,so please don't make this a one off look at her,their are so many fabulous songs to pick from that to not check them out would be a huge mistake.

📌Welcome! Who is Sohyang? Kim Sohyang (called Sohyang) * 1978 in Gwangju, South Korea. She is self-taught and a real all-rounder. Sohyang comes from poor divorced parents. As a teenager, she converted to Christianity and planned to become a cartoonist and artist. Instead, she joined a band and married drummer Kim Hee-jun. She started singing late and has no formal vocal training, but since has had some lessons from Seth Riggs (American voice coach). Shortly after the wedding she had to have an operation and was told she could not have children. She was then 21 years old. She decided to devote her life to singing for God and the comfort and joy of people. She is also a fantasy novelist, gives singing lessons at the Music House Academy in her home town and is a guest speaker at a university. She made her singing debut in 1996. She only became known in 2012 through her participation in the second season of the Korean singing competition I am A Singer. Sohyang became the first Korean female artist to sing the American national anthem at an NBA game. After the huge success in 2017 in the "King of Mask Singer" (Korea), Sohyang’s appearances became less and less. She was struggling with severe pneumonia, which came back eight times and almost took her voice away. Sohyang, hailed as "Korean Mariah Carey" for her outstanding vocal skills, shared how obsessed she was. She didn't want to damage her reputation, didn't allow herself to make any mistakes. So when she was stripped of sheen, all she could do was repent and reflect on her Christianity. She realized that the most important thing as a singer was to comfort people about not being perfect. Sohyang (pronounced as “So-Young”) she is from South Korea. I’m 73 years old and to me she is the greatest singer I’ve ever heard in my life. She not only a great singer but a beautiful person both inside and out. She first began singing in her local community, with no aspirations of pursuing a career as a professional singer. She was offered numerous contracts from major record companies, but she turned them down, because it would interfere with the plans God had for her. She is a devout Christian and has said that her goal in life is to use her voice to comfort people who are going through difficult times. She knows what hard times is like, her parents divorced when she was in her third year of high school and due to this, she experienced a lot of financial difficulties and was often very sad and she said that it was music that helped her through these difficult times. At the age of twenty she got married and soon after was diagnosed with uterine cancer, which she was able to survive, and she gives the credit to God. She is also an author of children books since 2013. Another thing is that she does all the arrangements for the songs she sings. SHE IS THE BEST EVER

So Hyang is one of the best vocalist of our generation in my humble opinion. She has over 10,000 reaction videos on youtube and more than half of the reactors consider her one of the best voices they have ever heard. Now that's saying something. Not only that they keep coming back to react to many more of her performances because they fall in love with her singing and her beautiful spirit just like I did 9 years ago when I first heard of her here on youtube.

Bridge over troubled water is a very popular song by Simon & Garfunkel that has been covered many times. Sohyang's cover was amazing. The change from soft and intimate vocals to full on belt was fantastic. She is one of the best in my opinion.

We all wonder if Sohyang is human or from another planet. Current odds are that she’s from another planet, with an outside chance she’s actually an angel come down from Heaven. 😇 We have never heard anyone sing like her, or be able to hold an audience in the palm of her hand until she lets them go. Her voice is, as one person described it, like liquid gold. Perfection in clarity and pitch, and she doesn’t fade in the upper octaves, which is startling when you hear her hit those 5th and 6th octave notes with such _POWER_ it actually gives everyone goose bumps-and makes us bald guys’ hair stand on end! As she says, her voice “is from God.” She does all the musical arrangements herself, with the input of her in-law family and musical assistants, teaches vocal technique at a South Korean university and speaks five languages: Korean, English, French, Vietnamese and Chinese, as well as reading Greek!

But this left her without the ability to have children so she decided to dedicate her life to being a Contemporary Christian Gospel singer and has refused recording contracts from the biggest corporations in the world. She only wants to sing for charities, churches and while doing missionary work, to strengthen those suffering through difficult times. David Foster, Josh Groban, Michael Bolton and others have all eagerly worked with her when they were in Asia.
She contracted hepatitis B from a blood transfusion during her cancer surgery and it clings to her to this day. In a South Korean television interview Sohyang conceded that she struggled with her desire for fame for a number of years, going into the basement in her home numerous times and closing the door so she could complain vehemently to God that He was holding her back from becoming famous due to her health problems and other unforeseeable events. Well, one more gush. In an interview with a Turkish music producer Sohyang's assistants revealed (a bit to her chagrin, as she is a self-effacing person) that she can hit Eb7 and D7 in practise. However, she never goes above the 6th octave in performances. Since she starts at D3 that is more than a 4 octave range ... so how about them apples???! Oh, I just remembered, she is also a published fantasy novelist and has a theological treatise on the Book of Revelation in print. In addition, she is a very good stage actress, which she proved by playing Julie Andrews’ part in the South Korean stage production of “The Sound of Music.” Moreover, she sang the “Moana” part in the Korean version of the Disney film, does the musical vocals for many South Korean television dramas, and is a talented artist and cartoonist. She taught herself English by watching Disney's "The Little Mermaid" "about one hundred times" when she was just a kid, speaks English with a _perfect_ North American accent and has an outgoing and bubbly personality.
She can also play the piano and guitar. Is there anything this genius level woman can’t do? Ironically, Sohyang stated in another interview that both she and her in-law family were surprised to discover that she could sing so excellently!
Though she is maybe 5' 4" and only about 100 pounds, Sohyang simply transcends the thresholds of music and takes you there with her. She becomes the song when she sings it, and then re-emerges when she is done. An experience like no other. I don’t know what else to say. I’ve spent _entire days_ listening to her, and shed more than a few tears of joy along the way.
I really must also compliment the choir, orchestra and audio/video production people Sohyang works with. They are all top notch from what I can see and hear, and that is important to note as these are _essential_ elements of any great musical production. The Korean people are easily as talented as anyone else.

She's up there with Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, and Céline Dion, according to David Foster, who worked with all of them, plus other big names in the music industry, such as Aretha Franklin, Barbra Streisand, and Michael Jackson. In fact, many vocal coaches and critics call her the Queen, and Dimash the King.

BTW, Whitney's former manager saw the DMC Festival video of Sohyang singing "I Have Nothing", and contacted Oprah Winfrey, who in turn, contacted David Foster. They were all amazed. He invited her to sing on his tour in Asia. She did 8 shows in 4 days in Tokyo. Foster co-wrote that song. He arranged and produced it for Whitney for her album, and her performance in "The Bodyguard". Kim Sohyang (called Sohyang) * 1978 in Gwangju, South Korea. She is self-taught and a real all-rounder.
Sohyang comes from poor divorced parents. As a teenager, she converted to Christianity and planned to become a cartoonist and artist. Instead, she joined a band and married drummer Kim Hee-jun. She started singing late and has no formal vocal training, but since has had some lessons from Seth Riggs (American voice coach).
Shortly after the wedding she had to have an operation and was told she could not have children. She was then 21 years old.
She decided to devote her life to singing for God and the comfort and joy of people. She is also a fantasy novelist, gives singing lessons at the Music House Academy in her home town and is a guest speaker at a university.
She made her singing debut in 1996. She only became known in 2012 through her participation in the second season of the Korean singing competition I am A Singer.
Sohyang became the first Korean female artist to sing the American national anthem at an NBA game.
After the huge success in 2017 in the "King of Mask Singer" (Korea), Sohyang’s appearances became less and less. She was struggling with severe pneumonia, which came back eight times and almost took her voice away.
Sohyang, hailed as "Korean Mariah Carey" for her outstanding vocal skills, shared how obsessed she was. She didn't want to damage her reputation, didn't allow herself to make any mistakes. So when she was stripped of sheen, all she could do was repent and reflect on her Christianity. She realized that the most important thing as a singer was to comfort people about not being perfect.

This was my third time watching you Reaction Video, I like the style you both have adopted! The first time I wrote a big long story on SoHyang and half a dozen recommendations on how to approach your journey with her! Just know this lady is very Special and Technically and vocally/ passionately on the same level as Demash, who I really like, though SoHyang has that little something Special that seals the deal for me, but that’s just me. I saw my fellow SoHyang Fan on here along with several other Fans! Todd always include a bit of her story which we both believe is essential to know how much singing to us and lifting our Spirits when necessary, mean to SoHyang, we are not just a pay check to her, if it were so she would me much more famous and have 20 times as much money!
