On another note...and to shift the gears a bit...I do not see how Mr. Leonard shifted the blame so easily to "Cookies United" when, according to the video (at 1:27 to 1:40), Stew Leonard's were the ones at fault...If these facts are true and he is shifting the blame to prevent a (rightful) lawsuit against his company, then he is, without a doubt, acting immorally and should be held accountable for his company's HUGE mistake to humanity in letting such a talented, young woman go too early to Heaven, or the Cosmos...PETE
It looks like the CEO Stew Leonard Jr. literally got on camera with his daughters and LIED about the package labels (immediately tried to shift blame to Cookies United, talk about damage control). Cookies United however provided receipts that they previously updated their labels. I hope a good lawyer goes after Stew Leonard's
I work in the flavor industry and we are trained every three months on food safety. Eight allergens in the US. Nine in Canada, they added mustard to the list. We are audited monthly. This was just do it fast and cheap.

The cookie manufacturer didn’t list peanuts on the list of ingredients, which is negligence and they will be sued. Now explain to me how not listing an ingredient on a label is somehow tied to greed or profits over people.
@@richieschmidt9480 Did you not pay attention to the story richie!? The cookie manufacturer (Cookies United) DID change their labels (it clearly lists peanuts duh). Stew Leonard's CHANGED the labels back to the old recipe which listed "SOY" instead (hence why the poor ballerina thought they were safe to eat). This is 100% on Stew Leonard's - - Cookies United is completely off the hook on this one. Also - - GREED comes into play when huge conglomerates like Stew Leonard's prioritize their profits over tighter safety standards ie they rushed these cookies onto their shelves for some quick holiday profits instead of focusing on proper labeling. You following along richie schmidt?

🤔 I think the lesson here is that digital correspondence is often not prominent nor payed close enough attention to to be the sole notification method of something this important, an allergen warning for a product at a grocery chain. Yes it would appear the owner perhaps is lying about not being informed, but the alternative is firing all twelve of these employees and paying a huge settlement or something of the like. Hard the blame them for attempting to finesse out of that landmine. It’s a capitalist system. But there should be physical bulletins issued with the first shipment of the modified product that clearly state the change and inclusion of peanuts. Of course, Stew Leonard’s could simply deny such paper work was included, but I have a feeling it wouldn’t have been a problem a that point. It would have been managed properly. You would have a stark reminder at the most relevant point in time, the moment a product is going on to the floor. This was a case of emails going unread or unheeded. Sad but true, that’s a predictable outcome. Less digital reliance, more practical approach to health and safety please. We owe one another better. 🙏 RIP young lady
Which mom are you talking about? The one who lost her kid ten years ago? One would hope that after ten years you could make your way through an interview without blubbering the entire way through, especially if you've been involved in advocacy for the last ten years.
It’s very sad, if I had allergies, I would never buy snacks, make your own and stay safe 😢
That’s is an insanely wild way to die. Condolences to the family.
Sending love and light to Orla’s family and friends. I’m so very sorry for your loss! This was avoidable.
That's terrifying.
The Crime Is Greed. That Caused Yet Another Death.
I think you nailed it Michael... and this millionaire CEO immediately tries to shift the blame rather than take responsibility

Truly disgusting that Stew’s made a video pointing blame. Do that behind cameras. No respect for the family

@traybern nope. Old Stewey tried to run a quick “pass the buck” press conference and it’s gonna backfire
And wasn't there a huge tax scandal regarding Stew Leonard's somewhere in the past, which they totally got away with?

No one is claiming the wrong cookies were in the box. The label doesn’t mention peanuts.
So Stew Leonard’s and Cookies whatever are totally off the hook for putting profits over safety causing this lady’s death?
