    Hey Tom,
Thank you so much for the thorough review, we didn't really market our extra low disperson glass, which I honestly thought was standard on $500+ scopes but I will definitely will start to from now on. Seeing the chromatic aberration on the Tango was truly unexpected.
Also another thing to mention as others have pointed out, we recently received a BDC reticle configuration and will definitely be sending it over to you for input. I believe this configuration really cleans up the picture and the outer parameter is tighter and thicker as well for faster targeting.
    Thanks again,
    Chris

I’ve bought nothing but primary arms scopes for almost a decade now and love the acss reticle. But their prices just keep going up. So I tried out the monstrum 1-10x bdc model. It compares very well against any of the primary arms slx lpvo. Honestly the monstrum wins every category in my opinion except the reticle. But in their defense it’s very hard to beat the acss reticle in my opinion. But the monstrum new bdc reticle is nice and seems to work great out to 300yds and probably farther just haven’t had a chance to stretch it out past that.

@@justa3v619 Agreed. I have the 1-8x SLx and hands down the Banshee glass is better clearer and sharper. Sig was able to come up with an ACSS look-alike with their MSR reticle. I don't know why Monstrum didn't do the same?

I'm comparing my Banshee 1-6x to a couple of the expensive scopes that I own, and this Banshee has some darn good glass! I wonder if the 1-6x might be the best of the Banshees.?.
I was thinking about the Banshee1-4x for my PCC, but I think the "Objective Diameter: 20 mm Tube Size: 1 inch" will not be near as good as the 1-6x.

I looked at that BDC reticle shown on Amazon and it's got (6) windage hashmarks on each side.
The BDC scope in the review I saw at
"Best Budget LPVO Set-Up Under 100 704 TACTIC.." At O:37
Has (8) windage marks on each side. Is the Amazon picture out of date?
Note: The MX1 has (10) windage hash marks on each side [2 MOA each]
My question: Does this new 1-6 BDC scope illuminate the Center Dot?
Does light up like the MX1 center dot?
If you put it in a video, it would be nice to see how it compares to the MX1 in use.

Huge win for Monstrum: A friend and I just finished putting 1,000 rounds of 308 through a SCAR-17 (SCAR-H known for battering optics to death) and the optic is still holding up just fine. The Banshee is FANTASTIC.
Edit: In case anyone wants to dispute the SCAR 17 reputation for destroying optics, Brass Facts and Hop did a video comparing the Trijicon VCOG and Sig Tango6T (Marine vs Army new adopted LPVO) and the SCAR-17 broke the $2,000+ VCOG. Do with that info as you wish.

It's an old thing due to production limitations in the early 2000's and back. It's no longer true and has not been true for at least 6 years. Id wager last ten though to be the case. Not to mention most people are not long shooting as majority of ranges are limited. Might have a 100 yard range or a bit further.

Personally, I prefer the Monstrum B1 reticle more than the MX1 reticle. A T crosshair with center dot and a broken 3 piece circle that's a fair bit smaller than the MX1's octagonal box. Also there's half as many hash marks on the posts so overall it's much less 'busy'.

The Banshee 1-6x that I have, has the center Dot illuminated. It's the MX1, not the BDC version. The green dot is needed for black target centers, When lighting is poor.
Does the Tango have that feature? Does the Banshee BDC? I didn't see it.
The MX1 has 2MOA marks, the box is 20 MOA wide and tall.
Since the center Dot is very small, the box shows your eye where the dot is. Illumination makes it great for low light.
For .223 all the normally used windage and drop marks are inside the box .
Within 10 MOA, up, down or sideways. I like the MX1, because it's not overloaded like a big Christmas tree.

      @Moondog2A  11 месяцев назад

What I like about the Tango (and the Primary Arms ACSS) is that the horse shoe acts like a big dot and all you have to do is center your target in the ring.
I think I'll like the new Banshee BDC because it's a bit of both the old MX1 and a tighter ring. I'm testing one now.

@@Moondog2A MX1 for indoor home defense maybe?
      At 1X the MX1 box is about 20" x 20" on a target at 32 feet. or 10.66 yards.
The width at my shoulders is about 20" wide. So I just would fit inside the box.
At 16 feet at 1X , the box would be about 10"x10" which would fit nicely on a man's chest.
"all you have to do is center your target in the" Box.

Clearly sig spent the majority of the development on making the msr look tacticool than giving it good glass quality. The sig is by no means considered a high end optic’ its their budget scope and they skimped on the glass. Now the monstrum lvpo has a horrible recital design which is why I would never buy one. They did just release a new version with a better recital. It would have been better to compare their newer 1-10 to the sig. I wouldn’t buy either of these optics for the reasons I mentioned. But if you don’t have a big budget at least people have options and I bet the newer monstrum ( Panzer ) would have been the better option comparatively. Also’ this was a great review that demonstrates the differences of low budget optics and by doing these reviews you really show people the differences. If I was looking at these brands I would definitely know what direction to go’ for me it would be somewhere else and I would never know that if it wasn’t for honest reviews by competent people like yourself. 👍

Because it's a SFP and at 10x that reticle is calibrated to the magnification so the square and dot are gonna be bigger. I have the 6x version of this LPVO and that's sized better (still too big IMHO).

now I may be incorrect here but.. lets say at min 8:20, you were talking about the clearity of the banshee over the tango.. however, if you look outside the optic on the lower left and right of each scope, look at the concrete... you can see the grain on the ground on the banshee test yet the concrete on the tango is extremely blurry... you think maybe the camera focus could have affected your results?

That's not he ground, it's the backstop you're seeing in both scopes. But it's not just the camera. Looking through my naked eye the Tango's clarity and brightness was just, meh. SIGs long scopes are great but this LPVO was disappointing.

I would have to flatly say the 1-6X version of the Tango MSR is clearly better than both of these scopes as this version doesn't start to blur out at maximum zoom like the 1-10x Tango MSR does, and also better than the 1-6X version of the Banshee (I have this one also) and not just because of the reticles. Having said that I like both of mine, and I did buy them for different purposes - the Tango MSR is for an AR-15 (which makes sense) and got the Banshee for a Ruger 10/22 (which also makes sense). The reticle illumination of the Banshee is definitely inferior to that of the Tango MSR - the lighting is not very well balanced - there are areas dimmer than others. Now while this doesn't render it unusable it can potentially be annoying to some people. However the etched reticle itself notwithstanding the illumination is nice and sharp. I dunno if the same is true of the Banshee 1x10 - I couldn't really tell on your video other than to say that the Tango was definitely still brighter. The glass quality on the Tango is also somewhat better - I find the Banshee to be a little more wavy, and I find the Tango MSR's eye relief better , especially on 6X. I have to agree with you however that the simple fact is, whether you have the 1-6x or 1-10x versions of these scopes it's hard to go wrong.

Only reason I bothered with a 1-6x Tango was cause I found it on sale at the same time I got my .308! 1x is good, and 2-4x is pretty good too. Sad thing is, even at 6x I see the same darkening/muddying you see on the 10x. The 1-6x is budget too, so I'm not going to complain overmuch. I will be saving up for a better optic though. The ffp version of the msr 1-10 seems to have much nicer glass

Probably? But it wouldn't be a fair comparison to put a SFP LPVO against a FFP.

@@Moondog2A True, there’s almost zero reviews of the sig ffp 1-10 its always the sfp for some reason haha I cant find anyone comparing the two and I want to know if they’re actually noticeably different or just me 😅

I recommend a Swampfox Arrowhead for a 1-10 comparison. Perhaps a gen 2 strike eagle or Primary Arms Nova for a 1-6 comparison.

The Swampfox Arrowhead is a good match. I'll reach out to Primary Arms and see if they want to send out a Nova (they've been ignoring me since SHOT earlier this year).

My question is how many civilians will need a recticle that is tactical or any piece of optic that is full tactical - I am a typical American and yes I would rather have the extra than not but the price point makes a big difference for me - like do you really need the tactical for the money

    • @Moondog2A
      @Moondog2A  5 месяцев назад

Good point. I wonder what most folks really use their LPVOs for. I find it ideal for action shooting matches and hopefully in the future 2-gun. But for range plinking... I think most folks would be better served with light weight 3-9x scope.

I chose the Sig Tango for the reticle alone as for me this is on a dangerous game rifle in which I wanted the thick highly visible/quick accessible crosshairs. The Monstrum reticle is a joke IMO. Besides the initial evaluation you did, I doubt any Monstrum would hold its zero after a couple boxes of 300WinMag.
