Hey Dana, the student loan forgiveness was primarily INTEREST. yes, I have an MFA from UPenn and a BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute, I paid back 40 thousand of the 60 thousand I borrowed, but my debt as of last year was 138 thousand. Many of the lenders would put you in forbearance when you couldn't afford to pay and they had a field day with interest. Most of the debt I accrued, even after scholarships was in grad school, where I was offered private loans to pay rent etc. My loans were over 25 years old and eligible for forgiveness with or without Joe, but what he helped with was the insidious ways that they would have extended these loans in perpetuity
because of forbearance and other tactics. Welcome to capitalism.

Also important to note re: student loan forgiveness-the insanely high and predatory interest rates. A lot of people would have been able to pay off their tuition if not for the interest rates.
Regulate the rates and regulate the gouging universities. Don’t make me pay for irresponsible borrowers. I pay for my three kids education (over 150k now) and I skip vacations and drive a 12 year old car. Let’s go Brandon.
I get that, but you can’t ask your neighbor to pay for a loan that you took out regardless of the terms. That’s basically what’s happening. They need to attack the lending part of the equation. So easy just to push everything off on the taxpayers.
Weird... When you purchase a car at 8% interest, I dont hear borrowers demanding their neighbors pay for their loans. However, its assumed taxpayers should pay some of your loan. NO. You chose: the school, the cost/semester, the terrible ROI for your major, signed the loan, noe YOU get to pay off the loan. Grow up

And ya got through high school with stoner drugs (although those hit big time around 1969....You saluted the flag in classroom..2nd nature.....AND malls were cool...

1969 one bedroom, 1 bath duplex in Beverly Center (Los Angeles, 2 blocks from Beverly and Vermont). Nice place with a huge back yard and fenced front yard, gardener, hardwood floors. $85 a month.

Not only do they have those little ice cream cart self-driving delivery things, but in Chicago recently I saw what appeared to be a small self-driving car that was delivering food, driving on the actual road, with no driver. It was basically like a Mini Cooper, but even smaller, and had a strange look to it (the front was just kinda a triangular shape pointed forward since it didn't need space for a driver or passenger).

AI talk is excellent,both guys. Fear is always the thing they're selling you.. the biggest Boogeyman now and for the foreseeable future will be AI. It basically was the biggest sci Fi movie franchises entire point, cut to Dana's Arnold impression.... The same way movies and radio were scaring people 90 years ago with war of the worlds is still going on today. Martian still having invaded and I want to spend one minute worrying about AI or robots

Summer of 1978, 5 bedroom townhouse, right across the street from the University we were attending in Waterloo. 4 of us were sharing it for a total of 300.00 a month(75.00 each and that is Canadian funny money). We let the girlfriend of a friend of ours stay for free in the extra bedroom if she cleaned up after us.
