Maher, you missing Shatner's point. We he calls it the Underground, he's speaking of the COMEDY UNDERGROUND. You're forgetting the age of your guest 90, and what his experiences are. You are going mostly with your own every time you correct his thinking. Bad form, dude.
I am absolutely blown away by William Shatner. The man looks like he's in his 60s and has the mind of someone in their 30s. If I am 10% of what he is at age 91, I'll count myself as extremely fortunate.

William Shatner is an amazing personality. He's 91 years old and is talking like he's in his 50's. Most people in their 90s can't even contemplate having an intellectual conversation for an hour.

I was fortunate enough to meet Shatner a few years ago, and talked to him for almost an hour, he is extremely intelligent, well read, and gracious.
I saw him perform in NJ. He did a Q and A. He was very impressive , especially at his age (Even though they showed us that AWFUL
Wrath Of Khan movie! My god, that was PAINFUL! That has not aged well. AT ALL!). I heard him being interviewed a few days ago, and he’s still sharp as a tack. He’s one of the greats .

I have watched more than a few episodes of Club Random now, and so far Shatner has been one of the best guests.
Shatner has amazing genes. 91 years old and still so sharp and vibrant.

I love that Shatner is so inquisitive, just hungry for life at his age. What I appreciate about the podcast is that it is just a convo. No one is being interviewed. It’s just two people talking.
I would be okay with this podcast going on for another 3 hours.
One is settled in and totally relaxed ... the other is constantly fidgeting and a tad uneasy. (unnecessary as to revealing which is which.)

My God what an understatement eh!? At 91 he has a belly - where most 90 year olds are skinny as a rail and ready for death. His comedic timing is amazing, and where he was talking about the Big Bang being a theory (Which is more and more into question since the JWST.) - the speed at which he responds with concise answers is amazing - gee I hope I'm as good in my late 70s.
This episode of Club Rectum was a riot, an insight, adorable, a delight! Like watching a Borscht Belt routine, a father-son hang out, and a Buddha with his pupil - all rolled into one. Shatner is an absolute wonder ... a treasure. Sexy, sage, smooth - the 90's never looked so cool.

So nice to see Bill on his own podcast. He has been the coolest guy on tv for the longest time. His show on HBO is great but it's good to see him in a setting where he can talk to his guests about anything and in an unrestricted format. Judging by this one his podcast will be very successful.

I am a big Bill Maher fan, and love all the Club Random episodes, but this was extra special. William Shatner is an icon, and Bill and him just shooting the breeze was so great to watch. I laugh my ass off watching these, so it's entertaining, and good for my health. Thank you for bringing some laughter in to peoples lives.

As an 80 year old that grew up in New Jersey. I feel like part of the current enlightened that had a similar childhood and has evolved to appreciate intelligent humor. Love this show.
YES!! I feel exactly the same way! I've love Maher since the beginning of "Politically Incorrect". I do have some criticisms of him sometimes, and I have some of him for this "interview". But for the most part, I enjoyed it, and look forward to more!

William Shatner is wise because he doesn't succumb to ego, and he's hilarious about it.
When he was younger he had a little bit of a ego. I think his age has humbled him a little. We are all human but I believe he is genuiningly a nice guy. But he had his days with fans and even younger actors that worked under him.
His ego is why he killed his wife
"Your mileage may vary." Indeed. My grandmother died at 106. She was walking and reading almost to the end.
William Shatner is still on his game, fully aware, funny, looks great and can keep up with someone almost 30 years younger without missing a beat. A lot of respect for Mr. Shatner.
I could listen to Bill Maher and William Shatner, both national treasures, have a conversation like this for hours! Any chance the two Bills could do this again? I don’t even care what the topic of conversation is: whether it’s religion or space or Playboy Mansion parties or unorthodox ways of watching Star Trek with your partner! 😄

Probably the best podcast I've ever seen. This went by far too quickly. Please have Shatner back again. I also agree that Shatner's comedic abilities have been under-appreciated. He was brilliant in Boston Legal. Denny Crane made that show. Looking forward to more shows. Well done, Bill.

So glad I caught this! I love William shatner! I'll never forget his Twilight zone. And yes I was a Trekkie for many years I still love Star Trek but I haven't kept up with the latest evolutions past deep space 9 but did watch the movie with Chris pine that gave us the background on the young Captain Kirk. Still love his voice with everything he narrates. And yes I can admit as a young girl had a definite crush on Kirk!
Not all people want to humiliate the people that they love! Most of us who love someone want to build them up and they would never want them to be seen in the light of humiliation standpoint. So I only guess on that could be that there is some kind of psychological issue compelling them towards this because honestly let's face it if you say you love someone do you want to humiliate them? Really? I don't sign on for that. No matter what problems I have for my partner what I want to reflect everyone around me the best qualities that they have and build them up. But if these people want to relate love with humiliation I'm not going to stop them but I don't feel that that is something beneficial that they're giving to their partner, I think that's got a lot more to do with wanting to control and dominate. I wouldn't feel loved by somebody who wanted to control and dominate me in that respect I would feel degraded and I would want out so I guess that speaks to the partner as having an issue because they have no problem being aggravated and humiliated. So what they have a need to be put down? Oh really who here thinks that that's healthy? Or a good encouraging atmosphere, an atmosphere of partner encouragement? I mean it's just my take on it. As an individual I can't feel loved if I don't feel filled up if I feel stepped on and put down it's going to make me feel unloved. But from what all the studies have shown the people who do this target those people, they see weakness and they see somebody that they can trample upon. And I feel that to be cruel but that's just my opinion

My love used to say that to people that Nick her head a family yet she would say who are you you never had a chick or a child and who are you to tell me how I should deal with my situations with my family! Yes we should not have our children living home till they're 40 by all means that's another thing my mother used to say nature intended people to go off on their own and start their lives, and that's the reason that you don't get along with your kids so well when they get to that certain age or they need to get the f*** out of the house! And she said that's the reason you don't get along with them because they need to get the f*** out of the house! And I really think my mother was a wise woman even though she never went on to college and she only raised a family she was smart. And it is true nature has its ways and it's rights of passages. And many people this day and age try to circumvent those passages, and maybe even possibly say that those particular rights of passages might be I don't know what's the word people are using oppressive perhaps, but again to quote my mother we have all these people raising their grandchildren these days. And my mother told all of us that she'll help us out but she's not going to raise our children she already did that, she raised her family and she'll be there to back us up and give us a hand but she certainly not going to raise our families for us. Now that's not to say that there was a situation where there was a death or something of that nature that she wouldn't have taken on that role. But she wanted to know that her kids could handle their own lives! I think that's a parent's role is to teach their children how to handle their own lives and not handle it for them. I think we have far too many people having their parents handled their lives for them to make their life easier and what generation before this had that luxury? Why do we have senior citizens taking on these burdens now? It's not fair to those people who already worked so hard and put all that time and raise their own families and should be able to enjoy their retirement they're now raising children in their sixties and seventies because their own children don't have the skills or the want and desire to do it for themselves?
Hey, please make these podcasts longer if possible. Loved every second of it.
This was such a blown opportunity. Whatever your opinion of Shatner is he's led a fascinating life and he's in the twilight of his years. He's also one of the most famous persons on the planet and he's still very sharp at 90. I wish Bill Maher could have asked him more introspective questions about his guests life, his career, and feelings about his mortality. And most importantly, let his guest finish his stories instead of constantly interrupting and changing the topic.

Bill Shatner is one of the last few real legends. What a man, what a life, what a hero. Contrary to false PR, he was a damn good actor and his Kirk was not overly sexual, he portrayed a reasoned logical heroic and brave captain, embodying the greater and most desirable characteristics of humanity. Guy has charisma that is unquantifiable.

Captain Kirk is an absolute icon, but you’ve got to see Shatner as an old guy playing Denny Crane on Boston Legal. The man has a genius for comedic timing (helps that it’s an expertly written show that’s both zany and fun while also being tackling serious hot button issues in an intelligent way). I love the bromance between his character and James Spader’s Alan Shore.
I have laughed at many of Bill's jokes over the years but watching him labor through those commercials ranks right up there.

Bill is not a card-carrying lefty. He has "righty" beliefs, too. He is, as he says, an independent thinker. The grief, the sarcasm, the cutting remarks that he has made about Democrats have been as biting and severe as anything he's said about Trumpites, who he classes and I class as not Republicans, but deranged mutations.
I like Maher, but he acted more like a grade schooler who just found out what flatulent means for about a third of the program.

Amazingly nostalgic walk down memory lane with two of the most intellectually curious and iconic personalities of their generations. I tuned in to just get a peek and got absolutely sucked in by their chemistry and mutual respect for each other, which to me, comes across as a working model for how simple respect and maturity can overcome barriers like difference of opinion and still be completely educational, enlightening as well as entertaining. Something sorely missing from our world today imo…
The Mustang are fed by volunteers on a weekly basis. I live in the Reno area and they bring hay out two are three times a week.
Clearly Shatner loves animals and we should all be grateful.

I have never seen Bill Maher express such unabashed love for any guest on any show like he has for Shatner. And I have to say, I can’t blame him. I would do the same. I met Mr. Shatner and had my pic taken with him sitting in the captain Kirk’s chair on the Enterprise. It was one of the most memorable moments of my life. What an honor. The man is a living legend and one of my heroes… as is Bill Maher. Love you Bill!
