I managed to get over Crisp Climb’s gap: ruclips.net/video/MW_mhpyk8HI/видео.html (sorry about the poor quality, twitter compression is no fun) What I did was to first use the ground pound jump to get into a normal standing position. If you jump within a couple frames of hitting the ground, you won’t crouch. Then I used a trick called vectoring (the zigzag movement), which allows you to build up just enough speed to jump from one side to the other.
That is true. The Gap near the end of the video is most-likely possible, He got pretty close with bowser-jumping and it might be possible if you time it right and get a good cycle between the two rotating sets of platforms, as the one time he got a pretty good cycle he completely missed the 2nd set and missed Bow Jr.
Ceave could have easily made a dramatic video of him getting 50 shines while crouching and frame it as him struggling to get to the end, but he instead made the challenge harder for content. That's dedication!
I would put forward the argument that Propeller Hats aren't actually power-ups. Mario is never transformed, and in my opinion they are actually just fancy hats with cool capabilities.
I think so too. Because if you wear a propellor hat with a cat suit, you can still use the cat suit. So if it doesn’t replace the current power-up, is it really a power-up? 🤔
While I agree on a technical level, the spirit of the challenge is broken, you might argue the same for Plessi but she is a dinosaur sooo ... (all kidding asside Plessi is also questonable for the spirit of the challenge).
I agree. The powerups are shown on the bottom left of the screen. Are propeller hats shown? No. Can you collect the propeller hats? No. Do they replace the powerup you are currently "wearing"? No. Can you get them by collecting 100 coins? No. So by pretty much all definitions I could think of right now, the propeller hats are not a power up.
I would agree with that completely, you can wear a prop hat with any powerup, it's more like carrying something than a powerup - carrying something also modifies your move set and I wouldn't call those powerups (just the prop hat improves maneuverability rather than detriments it).
The game clearly doesn't count them as power-ups, since Junior can't even carry any extras for you. Not to mention the rules for them are notably different in that you don't lose power-ups from going in the water. They're more of an environmental feature, like the giant ice skate. And I notice Ceave didn't even acknowledge the ice skate.
Somebody shared a video of it being possible, but they commented that one of the shines would be very difficult to get even after getting over the gap. Not to say it isn't possible just very hard.
5:37 Yoshi is rolling in his grave right now. 22:40 I KNEW IT! I'd seen this trick before and was wondering if Ceave would be bale to make use of it, but until this point I didn't have much hope. Good job for finding it!
4:41, thank you for face cam. your reaction and saying, "... you'll see for your self" is adds SO much to the video that wouldn't be there if there wasn't a face cam.
I appreciate the honesty at the start about being able to easily beat it and also that you couldn't get all shines, but honestly it's much more fun to watch it as it unfolds, I at least like to wonder whether you'll be able to do it and I think it would be better for retention to perhaps leave that mystery in future. Love your videos, man!
I remember watching ryukahr's playthrough of the game, he managed to get Plessie to the top of that rotating platform island, so that was another possible way to get the shines there
Now I finally know what the Italian flag symbolises. It's for the shines they already collected, the shines that they didn't collect yet and the shines that they can't collect!
Another fuzziful masterpiece of a video! I haven't watched it but I know how much effort goes into these consistently amazing videos and I'm sure I'll enjoy this. Love your work Ceave!
I think Grayfruit managed to get a lot of shines while staying on Plessie, even on rotating roller island, so that would be an option as well (even if against the spirit of the run). Whether this is easier or harder than doing it crouched, I can't tell though. edit you mentioned it in the outro which i just now reached LOL
Can I just say, I love the storytelling in these videos. It would be so easy for anyone else to say "this part seemed hard, but this is how i fixed it right away" but there's an added layer of suspense when you break the run wide open at the end. keep up the great work :D
All things considered, the fact that its both easy to beat, and easy to collect them all with power ups when crouching, must make Fury an extremely easy game mode if you play normally. And then even still as hard as it was to do this, you still managed it all but for one area, hah :)
In my opinion, this is the perfect series finale for Ceave's channel. It wraps up the crouching saga with one final victory against the slopes, and it feels like a final love letter to the community that watched his silly yet epic videos.
I like how this run encouraged you to use Bowser Jr. in an unconventional way, because outside of very specific painting spots it's easy to pretend he doesn't do anything.
I don't count Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury's hats as powerups, as Mario wears them without changing form (Super Bell (Cat Mario), Lucky Bell (Lucky Cat Mario/Maneki Neko Mario), Fire Flower (Fire Mario), & Super Leaf (Tanooki/Tanuki Mario) all cause Mario to change form. (Super Mushrooms just restore Mario's default state in SM3DW+BF)), so that's 7 more Cat Shines available to you, Ceave. I'm glad I got a chance to give my thoughts on this challenge to you, Ceave, & all of the amazing people in the comments.
Old Ceave is back, making challenge runs yet again and complaining against slopes. Now maybe we can expect a return of old old Ceave, who, according to the legends, made a supercalculator inside a Mario maker contraption (and definitely not using icicles), because it is in fact surprisingly simple.

'but actually, they can with a cunning trick' It gets to the point that we, the audience, know there will be a twist - but we enjoy knowing there will be a twist, and finding out what that twist *is* :D

You really know how to make people excited for the story in your videos. I was so happy when you revealed that many of the shines were obtainable at the end, even though I did never even play this game ^^
i personally feel like the propeller hat shouldnt count as a power up because the simple reason that it has 4 traits no other powerups have they cant be stored in power up storage, they get removed when going in water or on plesie (i counted those as two things) and its the only "power up" that can stack with other power ups
That jump seems like it really should be doable, especially with a Bowser Jr. bounce. Anyway, nice video! Nice to see you do another challenge run video! Thanks for uploading!
That bounce off Bowser Jr at 24:39 looks like it could have worked, with perfect timing. Maybe if Bowser Jr was more cooperative (in 2 player mode maybe?) the jump at 24:35 could have worked. You've spent long enough attempting it though, great work still.
