- What is the lowest amount of score points, required for a playthrough of New Super Luigi U? As it turns out, this question is hard to answer. There are so many different things that grant evil points in Super Mario games, that routing a Mario game with the lowest score possible is a huge challenge. Every enemy we defeat grants points, every coin we collect is forbidden, every second left on the end of a super mario level scores points, and ever power up that lives in New Super Luigi U hands out points as well. In short there is so much to keep in mind, that we will do this in two videos. Today we will take a look at the routing of the game, and at all the problems that await us in the normal levels, on our journey to beat New Super Luigi U with the lowest score possible!

This is the most overwhelming challenge run I've ever seen of any game. And of course, you pick to do it in Luigi U, the game where Luigi is barely even controllable.

I assume you're not using the Wii U Gamepad 's Boost Mode in this run? By tapping a flying squirrel in 1-1, it's possible to obtain a Super Acorn _without_ killing the enemy.
He used it in the boss episode, so I guess he is using it. Would save a fair amount of points, probably through more than just that one level.
I think he can also use the Boost Mode to stop the bullet bills in "Para Beetle Parade". Im not sure, but I think he can skip the part or stop the bullet bills.
I think he can also block the fire balls in 8- secret

Oh, he did plenty. Just... almost nothing that _matters,_ as far as the game is concerned.
With the boss fights, try ground pounding. This allows you to defeat the boss in two hits, and ground pounding hits score the same as regular hits, so you can reduce the boss points by 2000.

Every time I see one of these, I think: "That's super cool, I wanna try doing that!" then I pick up my nearest Mario game and then stop playing at the first level. It's way harder than it looks. Kudos!

I tried doing the same thing with Sonic 1 and I gave up after less than 1/3 of Green Hill zone act 1.

You could beat the first 3 levels of the list as small luigi and then collect the acorn suit. Doing this would save 50 points!
But the third level can't be reached if you don't have the acorn suit...and the boss level is a minimum of 8050 points.

Tunnel tower i have a solution multiplayer for the coin A makes you a bubble but you'll still keep acorn (I think I might of messed something cause I haven't played it in a while and the first level you can tap the acorn squirrel with the game pad so I hope this come in handy)

@@itsfruit The problem isn't not getting hit, it's that big Luigi's hitbox makes it required to get a coin at the start and nabbit has the same hitbox as big Luigi so that wouldn't help

It seems like Luigi's hitbox is wider than a single coin, so you'd end up collecting 6 of them anyway.
He can also just have a character bubble

Haven’t watched the video yet, but I have one thing to say. In some places to avoid coins you need to get points. You will need to either use a power up, or just grab a few coins for a lower score. I just hope Ceave realizes this, and good luck!

Why are you unsure about the best route? Math can easely answer the question : just create a graph with all the levels then apply a lowest path calculation that will give you the best track to follow :)

But is it possible to recreate Deltarune's Battle system in Mario Maker?
Doing it requires you to play the Boulderfall theme.
Using boost mode, it's actually possible to beat the 1-2 secret exit without using the acorn suit. Go through 1-1 as normal, and then use Nabbit in 1-2 so that you can ground pound through the block to reach the secret exit. Using boost mode, you can make it to the secret exit and dodge all of the coins in the cave. Boost mode in general just covers a world of hurt in this game.

At the part of the video where you used Nabbit to get the acorn suit (which failed), could you just use the toad house to gain the acorn suit? I think that the items you gain from these houses go to your inventory and can be used before entering a level, therefore removing the 1000 points you get from getting the acorn suit in 1-1. I'm not 100% sure that it works, but I think that it is still worth mentionning.

In past Mario games, hasn't dying or Game Overing halved your score? Would it be possible to do so at the last level before completing it to lower your score? Especially given the 0-point giving (But not pointless!) ways of getting an Acorn Suit?
Or are we focusing more on fewest points accumulated rather than the lowest score that you end the game with?
You have to wonder whether a scoring system that makes it easier to gain points than avoid them is a legitimate scoring system.

Hey Ceave one time i was playing new super luigi u and decided to touch the flag when the timer hit 0 and i did it but the timer went to 999 and stayed there and gave me a heck ton of points so touching the timer when its 0 wouldn’t help at all
Question: Is it possible to hit the bosses with a fire flower power up without getting points? Because if so investing 2000 points to get the flower and a new acorn might be worth it.
Note: I never played the game, so I don't know if this would work, just feel like in older games you didn't get points for this?

Couldn't you make blocks appear in front of the Banzai Bills that destroy 4 bricks with the gamepad's touchscreen? If that stops them without giving you points then that's 40 points saved.
Actually what destroys the brick blocks is the King Bill after the Banzai Bills.

No.
You can't get an Acorn Suit from that Mushroom house. You can only get a star or a 1-up, neither of which really doing anything for us.
You actually don't have to defeat an enemy in World 1-1, Ceave! There's a Question Block near the beginning of the stage that has an Acorn Mushroom in it.
You have to get a Mushroom before getting an Acorn Mushroom in that context which I assume isn't worth it.

Do you think that you can do a video sometime on doing the first New Super Mario Bros in the DS coinless? I think you have to collect like 7 coins but I'm not sure. It would be really interesting to see because the entirety of world 8 in that game is a disaster trying to go coinless.
