You mean people in third world countries. Almost every major international city has a marathon. There are way more paid marathons outside the U.S. than here. Anyone can fi a solo 26.2, but with an actual marathon event, the sense of achievement is higher, the atmosphere is electric, and you have an official time, medal and bib as a memory, not to mention professional race photos.

Da wirkt die Kulisse beim Frankfurter Marathon aber bedeutend beeindruckender. Da geht es hauptsächlich durch die Innenstadt.
Auch schon gehört. Leider für 2019 schon was anderes geplant, aber 2020 will mich mir den auch anschauen!
