Also, he was influenced by many others like Gould, Barenboim, Goldberg (for his Bach interpretations), etc. *** I was a classical pianist for more than 1/2 century myself and played THIS piece too in my younger years - although nowhere nearly as well as he does! Composers WRITE the music notes on paper 📝 , but it’s the musicians who actually PLAYS them in their OWN unique style - and imo that’s how it should be, and how I was taught!

I often hear talented trained musicians passing time amusing passengers at this busy station. Then a world renowned classical pianist drops by… it’s like night and day. After that performance, passengers ears won’t be the same for a while. It will be some time before they can appreciate the talent of the mortals again.

Lang Lang is my hero! I was reading a book about him and by him, and he said that his mom bought him a piano at a young age, and then his father started teaching him how to play the piano. He makes him play the piano for about 8 hours a day! I could only get to it for 1 hour and feel tired! Lang Lang has some strength!

I was actually there to listen to this. Couldn't believe it. I was so thrilled, until I missed my train. Had to wait an hour for the next one. Was late for a very important job interview and didn't get the job.

Ouch, so uneven. I thought I was the only one who couldn’t make an upright respond quick enough. These pianos actually make my hands ache the next day; because the action is so different from a grand. I give him credit for being a good sport. Liebestraum was a better choice. The piano isn’t responsive enough to play Flight of the Bumblebee up to the right tempo. Half of the keys didn’t come back up in time to play them again. 😂😂 Rubinstein used to call these “half instruments.!”
Ya I was about to say the same thing, at first I thought it was his technique but that can't be cuz he's so experienced. I've played on worse and it really damages the performance. I doubt many people noticed unless they are pianists too tho.

She eventually passed G8 at age 16 & flatly refused to take her diploma with abrsm. When she goes to uni this yr, I'm hoping she'll play in a quartet or trio in her spare time. But with her A levels looming, playing the piano now is not her priority. How long did you play the piano before passing your highest grade?
