So sorry mommy 🥰 You and baby, both need to be treated. It can easily reappear. Keep your bra clean and dry. Wash baby’s toys, bottles and pacifiers often. You can start with treatment at home as I covered in the video or see your doctor if you need a prescription instead. ❤️
I’m currently battling thrush for the second time. Luckily I had nystatin leftover and as soon as I recognized the symptoms I started the ointment again. Baby’s ped, however didn’t prescribe her anything as she had no visible thrush in her month. (First round happened a month ago) Now I am wondering if that’s why it came back. Can I use GSE in combination with nystatin?
UGG! So sorry mommy😞 Thrush sucks! I’ve had a few moms tell me that their pediatrician wouldn’t recommend Nystatin without visible signs. It would be unusual for baby to not have it if mom does but it could happen. Probably more apt to happen if mom was an exclusive pumper but even then, baby usually has it too. As far as I know, both can be used together but ask your doctor and pharmacist if there’s a drug interaction. It can be so difficult to get rid of for some moms. Did your doctor agree that you did have thrush?
Does baby have any diaper rash or redness in the underarms, neck or folds of skin? That would be signs in baby. Here’s an article from La leche league about Thrush. They mention how mom and baby both need to be treated. Maybe your pediatrician will reconsider if you show them the article 🤷♀️ www.llli.org/breastfeeding-info/thrush/
OB agreed I did have thrush and the nystatin did help the first time around but I also thought it was strange ped didn’t prescribe anything. She has a very very small rash thats been easily controllable but does seem persistent. Other than that no other symptoms on baby.
@@rociopadilla9529 the rash could be a sign. If you don’t see any other signs in the next week, then she probably doesn’t have it. That would be nice if she didn’t. Let me know how it goes ❤️
My 1 month baby has thrush. I’m also breastfeeding . Is it okay to pump and store my milk or give my baby the milk I just pumped? Also, are natural ways to get rid of thrush in babies?
With a baby this young, I would see your pediatrician for treatment. I do have some alternative treatments that I go over in the video but you both need treatment. -Keep your sugar and carbohydrate intake low. -Keep your bra dry and clean. -clean any toys or pacifiers that may be in baby’s mouth often. Yes, you can store your milk and feed to baby but ONLY while you two are being treated. When you’re all better, you’ll need to discard it. Sorry 😢
3 week old Baby has a thick white coating but i never knew i had to wipe clean her tongue before, now when i try , albeit very hard to do, it rarely comes off, nothing bleeds though. I can't seem to see any other patches in her mouth. she has 3 little dots in the roof of mouth but i read they can be epstein pearls, she's feeding well except when she's extra fussy. My nipples only hurt during the letdown reflex kinda like pins and needles. I've been starving sugars and carbs but im SO HUNGRY . baby just developed a mild little pimples looking rash but i also believe being in diapers all day is bound to create some sort of redness. any advice?
Did this just start in the last day or two? Is the nipple pain/ sensation new? Do your nipples look different than usual? Are they red or shiny? We’re you on an antibiotic anytime in the last 6 months? I’m not sure if it sounds like thrush yet but it could be. There’s no need to try wiping the white off. You should more in 24 hours. If it is Thrush, you will probably see more definite signs by then. Be sure to keep you bra clean and dry, wash thing often that are in baby’s mouth. Like pacifier or bottles.
@@marycahillclc I think it started Sunday/Monday. I'm more aware of my nipple sensations after reading about all of this. My nipples can get pink but I believe they looked like this since i started BF. Sorry i cant recall very well as everything's a little fussy after baby was born. I'm doing vinegar washes and coconut oil on nipples and letting her latch with a bit of the oil still in the nipple. I havent seen things get 'worse' , she still feeds fine and has a good latch, not hurting me. But i was convinced the pearls were thrush until reading about them today. I haven't been on antibiotics since i was 7 weeks pregnant. I would take her to a pediatrician but we are uninsured and in a new state
Yes, that can often clear it up. Just wipe it off before nursing or pumping. Anti fungal cream will work on athletes feet and Thrush. If it doesn’t clear up, then you can go to something else.❤️
Hey thanks for the educational video. My baby is 2month he has white tongue. I've struggling to clean it with a white cloth. He cries when I clean his mouth. But he's breastfeeding well. The whiteness it's only in the tongue.
When it’s thrush, the white will look pretty thick, sort of like cottage cheese. It’s normal to have a thin, white coating that stays there all the time from the breastmilk. Does baby have any sort of diaper rash or are you having any nipple pain?
@@marycahillclcI have the same question actually. It’s hard to tell in my case. I have mild nipple pain and also vaginal itching. My baby doesn’t have diaper rash.
Question ! My baby drinks formula, she is 7month old, she’s had a white tongue for about 2 days now, I tried wiping it off with a towel but it won’t come off only a tiny bit, she never really vomits after feeding but she is now, and she seems to be really hungry but when she gets her bottle she doesn’t like the milk, I know what her milk tastes like and I’ve fruit now .. I thought it might be her milk, but I just opened a brand new sealed bottle and it was a funny taste to it, it left my tongue a bit white too and a bit dry..
This happened once when she was around 3 to 4 months old and I thought it was just the milk because it had a funny taste than how it normally tastes, and it the white on her tongue went way after a couple days (I was cleaning her tongue daily)
Babies who are formula fed can get thrush too. Does she have a diaper rash too and is she sort of smacking her lips? Check the freshness date in the can but also call the phone number on the can to be sure that there isn’t a recall on it. I would check with your doctor if you are concerned about her. 💜
It can sometimes not be as noticeable on baby. Sometimes baby can be uncomfortable but it’s not usually painful for baby. Baby will usually have some white patches in their mouth and sometimes a diaper rash. If it’s not showing on baby now, it might show up later. You both need to be treated though. Change your bra and wash bottles or toys often. So sorry mommy 😢
If it’s just to catch occasional drops, you could change them once a day but it their getting wet, I would change them at least a couple of times a day. ❤️
Oh no! Wow! I’ve had lots of moms use it with no problem. Do you think baby is allergic or it was just to harsh? It will dry the skin out for sure. I’m so sorry that your little one had that happen 😞
This is great. Thank you!
What's the best to do with my 3 months old baby having thrush again and again.

Are you breastfeeding? If so, do you have any pain or redness?
My dr told me to use a anti fungus ointment that is used also for the feet is that true

I've used gentian violet to dye bacteria and yeast in the lab, so yes, it will 'kill' it but it's highly toxic. I wouldn't recommend it
