Or when David said "We are hardly dead" and proceeded to hard the dead out of the killers. But when the killer retaliated and said "No mithers?", i was shook to my core.
My favourite part of the movie had to be when Wraith said “No One Escape Death” and began binging and bonging at twice his usual velocity. But when Philip’s trusty totem then got cleansed by Jake, and then Dwight Fairfielded all over him, I was shooketh. Truly one of the times of all movie.
Me: I don't even play DBD Also Me: listens to Otz because it's incredibly entertaining and the thought exercise of trying to understand a game I don't know feels very enjoyable when someone experienced walks me through it.
2am in new zealand means this is the perfect sleep material. i struggle with sleep so listening to these long videos genuinely helps, and they're also informative as well to listen to. thanks for another banger video, otz! :)
Something that would be very helpful to add to these tutorial videos is text overlays at moments where you make certain decisions, like for instance moments where you chose to slug someone, or found two survivors and decided to chase a specific one, when a survivor makes a not-so-obvious mistake and how you exploited it, why you went to a certain part of the map at some point, etc. Killer and perk choices matter a lot, but I think the ability to make swift chase decisions can easily overturn a difficult match and turn it into a win. Brilliant video as always.
Thank you again Otz for putting this amount of time in helping the DBD community. How can you not love this man? The guy literally made a 16 hour video going over every perk to help people. It also helps a lot that he put accessibility into account when making these builds. Not everybody has enough hours or money to get every DLC and it’s appreciated that it was taken into consideration.
While she's not easy on a mechanical level, I think Plague is still somewhat nice for newer killer players. The fact that you don't have to worry too much about keeping the pressure up in light of medkits and CoH takes away so much stress, and leaves a bit more room to practice other parts of the game, like positioning awareness and tile/map layouts.
Legion is significantly easier imo for a beginner to pick up and learn properly, they provide a lot of anti healing pressure and synergies well with one of their own perks and many basics
BHVR are very lucky to have you helping their game & its community so much. You have helped me be a better killer from all the things I've learnt from you. I actually run into the opposite problem allot of the time, where I destroy a team (eg: 5 gen them), so I will choose more obscure builds or just play more chilled. Obviously I still get destroyed by survivors every now and then if they are a good team etc. Thank you for all your help dude.
Survivors: I hate versing legion players it’s just mending simulator. Also survivors: *brings Dead Hard, Off The Record, Borrowed Time, and Styptic Agent*
As a ghostface main, THANK YOU Otz, this is my favorite character because of the franchise, i have a tattoo of ghostface, like i am a GF buff! But I am terrible with him and it's became discouraging. This video simultaneously helps beginners but also steers me back on track for what I should be doing as the GF. My current build was nothing like this
I main ghostface, my personal favourite build is 1. A nurses calling 2. Dragons Grip 3. Call of brine and for 4 either Lethal Pursuer OR Nowhere to hide. Goodluck
Tips for new killers 1) KNOW your character and build and how they work so research what the killer you’re playing does and watch guides on them so you know them inside out same applies to perk builds 2) don’t worry about stacking slowdown too many slowdown perks will mean you lose vital utility such as aura reading/info perks or anti-heal perks 3) know when to drop chase if a survivor is running you for a long time maybe just drop the chase and go after their weaker teammates or if they’re bringing you to an area with nothing to defend e.g. an area with generators finished then drop it if you can’t down them quickly 4) look at where generators are and which ones you should defend and which ones aren’t worth defending a generator in a random corner isn’t worth defending vs a gen in the center of the map or a gen next to other gens 5) do your research watch guides and gameplay videos and learn from and when you lose think of what you could’ve done better the more you learn from others and yourself the better you’ll get
So what you saying is if you have bubba know that he is very very good at hook defence and there is literally no need for him to move from the basement 😂
@@CaptainHalodude if that’s what the situation calls for then yes but sometimes it may be better to not camp. Seriously though what’s your point my point is to know what your killer does e.g. trapper or hag will probably get more value if they drop a chase to hold their territory vs a nurse who is better in chase and would get more value from chasing a survivor or something like knowing how big huntress, tricksters, or deathslinger’s ranger attack hit boxes are so you could get some unexpected hits during chase
I don't comment much, but I find it funny that I've been playing right now and the last 4 matches have been 3,000 to 7,000 hour player teams. I don't think I'm that bad for someone with roughly 800 hours but there's no way I match up to that level of experience. MMR truly is painful and I have nothing but admiration for you helping new killers out as it can be a miserable experience without some help. So thank you for your commitment and kindness Otz!
I was a killer main right from the beginning my adventure with DBD (about two-three years ago) and I recently struggled a lot with a killer, facing good survivors and being left on one or two hooks at the end of the game and I was ready to give up killer cause it felt impossible to play it anymore, until I catched Otz on stream, watching games of other fans and telling them tips and advices. What was coming out in almost every game was that the killer was too nice/not focused enough on using survivor mistake against them. I started following that guidance, by being merciful until everything was obvious in the match, that I'm going to win, than I could be friendly, give people hatch and have fun. And I'm having fun, my games changed 180° and obviously I still lose awfully from time to time, I made my peace with it. And I really think that replay system in DBD is awfully much needed, being able to watch what exactly survivors did in the game analis it and rule out the cheaters would a fantastic tool. Thanks Otz once again for saving my DBD career, you're amazing!
It would probably be a lot of work and I’m not sure if you’ve already done it, but if we could get 3 builds for every killer using early on perks or just a couple teachable it would be amazing. Just knowing what perks work on each killer makes making build on your own so much easier. Your content is a life saver for this game. Thank you.
Could you imagine just learning Dbd only through its tutorial and in game explanations? Honestly I don't think the playerbase would stay as afloat as it does without Otz.
In my opinion, one of the best starting killers to get is Legion Simple, yet strong power with a little bit of nuance Decent teachable set Not a licensed killer so you can buy them naturally Synergizes well with most basic perks Great addons with only being a couple being bad (namely BFFS and Joey's Mixtape)
This helps a lot, thank you very much. Id love to see some helper videos exactly like this for the more obtuse killers like Executioner, Blight and Doctor
wraith , two versions , ver. 1 - pallet shredder two vault , etc. addons Brutal Strength Hex : devour hope save the best for last sloppy butcher / hex : no one escapes death basically you run to your hex everytime you hook a survivor , kick a gen etc. because it will both make hex dh activate (leaving the hook range) but you will also make sure it's safe. I feel like many beginners just copy "meta" perks which are harder to use and hard to get value out of if you don't grasp the basics. Otzdarva doing a gods work out there
Greatful for this vid, used to play DBD alot back in early 2020, but took a 2yr break and recently returned, and with all the meta changes, reworks (be it killers, maps, perks or add-ons) i basically forgot how to play the game to a certain degree

On infectious fright, I totally recommend it on trapper if you're playing with the purple honing stone that downs them on a successful trap escape. If they escape the trap and go down, it'll cause anyone in your terror radius to scream, even if you're across the map from the downed surv. Fun tidbit
28:31 i actually asked Support - it isn't a bug, it's intended, just was never mentioned in the patch notes. that's why i started using Dissolution. It works quite funny with Wesker power (It activates EXACTLY at the end of survivor pallet vault) (Also tried Hex: Crowd control, but didn't liked it, because it's a hex)
When I read "beginner & intermediate killers" I wasn't sure if you meant based on killer tier list, killer "difficulty" (as indicated in-game), or player skill level. Wasn't really expecting "a little of each." Hardest part for me is still knowing when to commit to chase and when to leave. To be fair, I haven't been practicing, but it feels bad to leave someone right in front of you to go look for someone who might not be where you think. Dunno why but in this video, all of the audio cues felt like they were louder than usual, and coming from different angles. A gen to your right sounds like it's behind you, and a vault to your left sounds like it's on your right. Back when I was into Overwatch, watching pro players give breakdowns on newer/lower ranked players gameplay was actually some of my favorite content. It's one of the better ways to get examples of "here's what you *shouldn't* do and what you *should* do instead" for those odd situations, those situations where the best thing to do is different from the general guideline. Since you're already reviewing that content for some players (presumably on stream), what do you think about uploading a few of your favorite examples (assuming the player is up for it)?
I don't play this game atm and not sure I will, but Otz's vids on it are still one of my favorite things to consume. I do miss the DS days, but I'll watch anything you make, you gorgeous, cheeky Spaniard.
Ahhh I love your videos and dedication to this game otz, even if you branch out and get some fresh new games or content you always come back to DBD. I’ve been playing ever since DBD came out on Xbox and I love watching your content and will be here till the end ✌🏼
Fun tip, Legion's Friendship Braclet is very good. The lunge distance increase is 50% distance, it's the same as having permanent Coup de Grace for your power! Using the lunge near the end of your power if no one is around, gets you distance!
i remmeber Otz making a vid abt nemesis, and i feel like he simplify his gamplay and im still playing that style, its rly suripising that some still dont know tentacle can still hit them after they use the pallet, and the add ons are rly simple, movement and field of view for zombies are enough for zoning them Otz simplifying some techs on killer rly do help guiding newbie killers like me, and with how he simplify plague i think im gonna try his build cuz i rly dont touch my plague after unlocking the teachables but now i think i may be confident enough to at least try
I’ve been having a really rough time since last week on this game (ex. Getting spun multiple times and they make it to a pallet, three gens going at the start of the game after a down, Stressful games with survivors notification spamming across the map and much more) I appreciate these types of vids until they balance the game. I think killer needs a lot of help and this is evident with the lack of killer players over the months.
even with almost 500 hours on dbd i still fuckin love watching ur videos liek these, even if i dont need it it's just so good watching all this effort you put to help new players to improve thx for everything otz
TBH, if you have that many teachable perks level 3 and addons to spare you are no longer a beginner. Dare I say, back when I got BBQ back in the day and see myself years later, the difference of meta/fundamental play has been minimal. If anything there is a constant of Killer using regression while survivors use chased base perk which make it seem that instead of playing “the game” we just play some sort of “perk roulette” game. Or to say it more simple, at high level using certain perks makes a bigger impact than personal knowledge.
I feel like I likely fit into the "intermediate" category. I've been playing the game for maybe 6 months which feels kinda long, but isn't that much in the scope of dbd players. I main Sadako mostly because I love Ringu but realize that on top of still trying to learn the game, Sadako has a lot of downsides. I've definitely had times where I feel like I'm at such a disadvantage because of playing a certain killer, being paired with certain squads, items, perks, etc, etc but you have really helped me understand how to work around these shortcomings my best. I can't really change that as Sadako I'm often weak against these meta perks, good squads, and items but try and bring my own set of tricks and know that I can always improve. I don't normally comment but thank you otz for helping me and to anyone else, I hope your journey's to becoming better at killer goes well!
Thank you much for the ghost face build just ran into 3 flash lights and they couldnt do anything cause they couldnt heal due to sloppy butcher felt so good killing them all
14:15 for people like me: I loved when otz said, we have to make a build for beginners & intermediate killers, or I want be otzdarva anymore (not otzdarva), and it was so epic when he got up and started beating the shit out of me
Thanks Otz ill have to try these out . The matchmaking has been horrible to me , ive been getting absolutely bullied over and over again as killer for some reason
Otz I am watching u since the release of twins and u helped me climb the mmr so much tyy ur like my “coach” pls keep doing vids and help newer killers ur the dbd legend ❤
1:09 I don't want to be that guy but I too can relate to *porly* choosing builds that don't mix with the selected killer, good to know this video will help
At this point I have enough hours in the game that I can't call myself a beginner anymore but I still struggle a lot sometimes. I really just try to play my own fun way, I generally don't tunnel, I'll often even ignore an easy down on the person I last hooked. My biggest problem is I only play in short bursts and so never really got good at mind gaming, knowing the tiles and the right thing to do and when. I started as killer main, now I play a lot of survivor too. I mostly just go for whatever has the BP incentive now tbh. I try to play too nice, and also sometimes just get an awful map vs a really good team I just lose motivation and turn the game off. I probably only play a couple games a day or every other day now.

I don't play this game atm and not sure I will, but Otz's vids on it are still one of my favorite things to consume. I do miss the DS days, but I'll watch anything you make, you gorgeous, cheeky Spaniard.
I must say, that Legion match of Father Champbell Capel was positively bonkers
300 hours in DBD: Oh boy, an Otz guide!!
2k hours in DBD: Oh boy, an Otz guide!!
I love when otz wrote 'porly' actually made my day love you oats
Sorry, I didn't feel like re-rendering the entire video after I noticed 🤣
Thanks, I have been trying to make a legion build that works because they are my favorite killers.
1:48 you just recomended Ghotie, Legion and Wesker, wich are exactly the only killers I actually want to use, niceeeee
Ahhh I love your videos and dedication to this game otz, even if you branch out and get some fresh new games or content you always come back to DBD. I’ve been playing ever since DBD came out on Xbox and I love watching your content and will be here till the end ✌🏼
Can confirm that just changing NOED to nurse's calling and bitter murmur to Fear monger has improved my play as stealth killers SO much.
Otz: just needs to continue chasing straight for 5 more seconds to bruteforce a down.
Also Otz: “I’m gonna mindgame the heck out of this tile”.
Hello Otz, this is friends watching your vids because they are great.
Fun tip, Legion's Friendship Braclet is very good. The lunge distance increase is 50% distance, it's the same as having permanent Coup de Grace for your power! Using the lunge near the end of your power if no one is around, gets you distance!
Me with +1000 hours in DBD: YEs, a video for me specifically
i remmeber Otz making a vid abt nemesis, and i feel like he simplify his gamplay and im still playing that style, its rly suripising that some still dont know tentacle can still hit them after they use the pallet, and the add ons are rly simple, movement and field of view for zombies are enough for zoning them
Otz simplifying some techs on killer rly do help guiding newbie killers like me, and with how he simplify plague i think im gonna try his build cuz i rly dont touch my plague after unlocking the teachables but now i think i may be confident enough to at least try
Top-tier info as always Otz!
Otz causally throws out an 8hr long video about 1 build on one killer
I can’t be the only one who isn’t a beginner and watched this video just because I want to watch otz play dbd
I swear Friday nights I meet the most ruthless survivors, anyways I would love to see a video detailing the best and worst maps for each killer
Otz made a full list of all maps in dbd and judged them either being more survivor sided or killer sided.
Your my favorite dbd RUclipsr love your videos
This is such a thoughtful video for beginners! Thank you for doing this!
my younger brother just recently got into dbd, and one of the perks i recommended for them was spies from the shadows. super under rated IMO
My GhostFace build is Jolt, Lethal, Eruption and No Where to Hide. I think it’s very well and has won me a ton of games
I have honestly been getting destroyed more than half my matches and this is very helpful. Thanks Otz
I really enjoy these guide videos! Love your excellent explanations, Otz :)
Thank you much for the ghost face build just ran into 3 flash lights and they couldnt do anything cause they couldnt heal due to sloppy butcher felt so good killing them all
14:15 for people like me:
I loved when otz said, we have to make a build for beginners & intermediate killers, or I want be otzdarva anymore (not otzdarva), and it was so epic when he got up and started beating the shit out of me
Man just what I needed. Thank you otz!
That Nea in the Legion game was...well, pretty damn suspicious imo.
You know full well Tapp in the GF game was doing a sabo hook Daily 😂
This is exactly what I needed, thank youuu!
the hit with legion and enduring was crazy to me
Damn, that last match, 3 NASA medkits + adrenalines, luckily was playing as plague, otherwise would've been painful
25:04 summarizes why no one wants to play killer pretty well
Thanks Otz ill have to try these out . The matchmaking has been horrible to me , ive been getting absolutely bullied over and over again as killer for some reason
20:58 Hooking "Yee to my Haw" and "Haw to my Yee" back to back filled me with so much joy
Otz I am watching u since the release of twins and u helped me climb the mmr so much tyy ur like my “coach” pls keep doing vids and help newer killers ur the dbd legend ❤
otz using the best legion jacket poggies
Hot damn, Otz really has three thousand of that one broken tablet addon for the plague... That's wild
The legión Game with the 5 spin desde hard was CRAZYY, i don't unferstand how people can wait for that long and manage yo still use it
Hacking, thats how.
@@del1626 yall see a good player and immediately assume they're hacking. it just goes to show the kind of state dbd and the community is in rn lmao
1:09 I don't want to be that guy but I too can relate to *porly* choosing builds that don't mix with the selected killer, good to know this video will help
great job again friend
This is actually a really helpful video thanks otz like usual
Otz: "The last person to run Calm Spirit died in WW2"
Me having faced someone running Calm Spirit last night: "The second coming of Calm Spirit Jesus is upon us"
