Whispers gets the best value when the hatch is closed. I remember playing Trapper. Leon was hiding somewhere in the Yamaoka Estate. Both exit gates were trapped. Would love to see a comparison between walking back while reeling vs walking forward while reeling. I remember you talked about how you need to walk back because you're fighting their resistance but I feel like walking forward is just faster.
It doesn't actually matter. Your reel speed isn't a set number and it changes based on your movement and if the chain is clipping through an object or not. The survivor will always arrive to you at the same time no matter what. Moving is dependent on the current situation. Pulling backwards moves the survivor faster, so they don't have a lot of time to get stuck on stuff. Pulling Forwards moves you faster, if they're already stuck on something but you can get within lunge distance.
The reel reels as the reel will What's happening is survivor position within that reel -- pushing forward holds the survivor where they are. Useful if there's a hook right near them so you don't have to walk as far after the hit. No matter the distance, the reel time is the same (unless an object/survivor is in the way breaking it, of course). If Slinger stands still, the survivor is just pulled to him. The survivors just try to wiggle around to get something in between is all, it's not affecting the time it takes to real
I know whispers is not a super strong perk sometimes, but I personally use it regularly as a quality of life utility and with practice I have gotten very consistent value from it. Especially endgame situations with 1 survivor left.
@thedoomslayer5863 yeah I won't deny there are technically better perks but I find it to be a nice thing and run it more often than not. If you are trying to be optimal or something, then it's not your first choice.

I still love using Whispers on Doc since it almost guarantees you always hit blasts. It's a bit more of turn your brain off for him and arguably Discordance is better since you can always score 2 hits with blast. Although after a long day of work sometimes turning your brain off is needed.
It pairs well with stealth killers/builds. Larger terror radius = more panicked survivor movements at the edge of Whispers range. That might add a few seconds to pinpointing them.
This is one of my favorite go to's for Myers instead, Monitor and Abuse + Dead Rabbit and you've got a 4 meter terror radius. Having a 99 insta down you can keep in your pocket is great for an ambush and also good for hit and run playstyles if you want to run knock out or sloppy butcher as well.
6 meters not 4. And for extra fun run infectious fright. Your TR balloons to like 50 meters when you're in phase 3 Myers in a chase. Almost no TR in tier 2 but then you get to detect anybody nearby when you instadown and go for a Snowball. Plays to the strengths of both t2 and t3.
Wispers is basically lethal pursuer on any 2d map. Most of the time when it triggers you can walk straight forward and find the survivor, the rest of the time you just need to think a little. (Spoken as someone who has played for 5 yrs)
Otz your the best content creator that I know at explaining mechanics and giving tips , I have friends that are just getting into Dbd and it’s hard to explain to them everything. Could you make a beginner guide to survivor dbd? To help out the new people that are intermediated by all the perks and killers, maps and don’t know where to start
I like to run a Silent Deathslinger build with Whispers using those similar perks, except also using the Police Badge + Whiskey for an even smaller terror radius + Furtive Chase and Monitor and Abuse. Before you get 1 token from Furtive Chase that's already having a 12 meter terror radius, which is well enough to land a shot on a unsuspecting survivor. With at least 3 tokens with Furtive Chase, you make your terror radius down to zero. Making you completely silent, while very gimmicky, it can be fun to shoot unaware survivors and scare them. As well I use whispers at times for stealthy killers like Wraith and Ghost Face. If you really wanna be a dick, when looking for hatch, remain stealthy then hit the hatch when Whispers goes off.
I’ve been wanting to see some deathslinger plays for a while, I just got to iri 1 using him in the last match. It’s so satisfying to get those snipes lol
Honestly the absolute best use for Whispers is on Doctor,32m radius on both so when Whispers is active you know you will hit at least one person with the blast and knowing most survivors nowadays rushing gens you usually find 2 or 3 in one blast and as we all know on Doc keeping that sanity pressure on all the time is the way to win because skill checks are messy and on tier 3 they need to snap out or they're useless. Tho i admit i usually got alot of value out of Whispers for the simple fact that you can't counter it so while it doesn't give pinpoint info it does narrow down the area alot.
I actually like Whispers on Ghostie, a little trick I do is to go stealth as soon as it activates the first time, cause it might trick a surv into thinking i'm not a stealth killer.

6 meters not 4. And for extra fun run infectious fright. Your TR balloons to like 50 meters when you're in phase 3 Myers in a chase. Almost no TR in tier 2 but then you get to detect anybody nearby when you instadown and go for a Snowball. Plays to the strengths of both t2 and t3.
otz my fav dbd yt
killer vid man
The only time I really wish I had Whispers is when the last 2 survivors are just hiding in a corner in a locker.
Wispers is basically lethal pursuer on any 2d map. Most of the time when it triggers you can walk straight forward and find the survivor, the rest of the time you just need to think a little. (Spoken as someone who has played for 5 yrs)
I like to use whispers with Ghostface, as soon as the perk goes off I immediately cloak
I just cloak any chance I get
Whispers best perk in the game trust
8 in the morning Monday upload, god bless American
I still use Whispers on Knight since his soldiers are good at flushing out the more precise location of the survivor so I just need the general area.
Ah delicious, some new Slinger content
Otz your the best content creator that I know at explaining mechanics and giving tips , I have friends that are just getting into Dbd and it’s hard to explain to them everything. Could you make a beginner guide to survivor dbd? To help out the new people that are intermediated by all the perks and killers, maps and don’t know where to start
Slinger is underrated anyway. Imo one of the strongest killer. Almost never lose with him
I like to run a Silent Deathslinger build with Whispers using those similar perks, except also using the Police Badge + Whiskey for an even smaller terror radius + Furtive Chase and Monitor and Abuse.
Usually like whispers on DR when running one of the annoying builds to pester survivors.
Static burst cooldown addons pair well with it.
No way out + Whispers goes well together
Otz is deathslinger main 🤠
I’ve been wanting to see some deathslinger plays for a while, I just got to iri 1 using him in the last match. It’s so satisfying to get those snipes lol
My first dbd main ❤️
When the survivor says something so medkit-fed you gotta hit 'em with the Dead Man's Stare
POV a T3 Michael Myers has bought a spear rifle and knows your exact gps coordinates
You mean ROUGH coordinates. Whispers would actually be a good perk if it told you exact location
I don't care about the build just seeing clean slinger shots is so satisfying.
How does playing deathslinger managed to be so satisfying?
Otz, you must NEVER break the chain
I really like whispers for the beginning and end of matches.
I knew you'd find a cool use for the Terror Radius Deathslinger add-ons. Love to see it.
This one was a charity-requested build though!
@@notOtzdarva Even better! People can be so creative with their builds.
@@colossaldonut5190 this was me actually! :D im super happy otz found it interesting enough to make a vid on it, and im even happier you and everyone else seems to like it too :)
I can't really use whispers. I ended up getting so focused on trying to see the survivors that I keep forgetting to check if whispers is on or not and I am not experienced enough to notice the whispering in the heat of the moment
I used to run whispers on Pyramid Head and play with the caged survivors. I find the cage fast after caging and “camp” as some may call it, when 2 or more survivors show up I will just stand in front of the cage and it will appear somewhere else. It was something evil and “fun”😂.
I remember when whispers was op with silent spirit. That was the most op thing ever. Free grabs. Now I’ve never seen whispers used
That killer shack window shot…. That was juicy
It’s so funny how you’re casually commenting on things in the game and playing it so chill, while the team is being absolutely destroyed.
If i was one of the survivors i would think the killer is a tryhard sweatlord
