      I think you handled a potentially bad situation extremely well, MYSELF would have been super stubborn and continued to paddle my ass off until I got home (although my 2nd option would be to have a friend go with me) As for your Kayak skirt make over...(LOOKS great ) might even try to make one for my kayak thanks to your video...Cheers, 1000 islands Canada

      The project was well planned and executed, very informative. The choice of Ryobi tools was very good. I have used them for years. Great bang for the buck. The choice you made to seek shelter under the bridge was tactically sound. I would suggest using a solar powered strobe light, for safety it makes sense. If you have a problem it would make you much easier to spot. Also I would suggest carrying a good knife, that is properly sharpened. A knife is a very valuable tool. Look for one you can affix a lanyard to and attach it to your life jacket. loved the video, it's a beautiful lake. Thank you.

    You accomplish more than most people I know.
    Have you ever been scuba diving, or had an interest? As a dive instructor, I have taken a few people diving with me who were in wheelchairs. We mostly dove on wreck , which are really convenient for beginners in wheelchairs because of the solid flat surfaces of the ships or bridge rubbles, and they are some of my favorite too because they tend to hold a lot of marine life.
    Good job on the cover. Looks professional to me!

    Yes, under the bridge looks like it was the best option. Maybe having a little rain jacket or poncho you could have thrown over yourself would have been nice. If the winds had picked up, the poncho could have helped you keep warm enough. * * * The rewards look like a fulfilling life!

I've sat under a bridge in a boat during a storm before.. makes good sense to be extra careful when it comes to thunderstorms. I have a very cheap Costco drone that a friend gave me but I never use it because it drifts too much 😂😂
      I would place my GoPro on a dam or fallen tree and then paddle back to retrieve it. I do hope to purchase one of those “follow me” drones down the road, I think that would be cool.

    Found your channel thru the van tour you did for Chrome! I subscribed yesterday. You’re amazing and your van is amazing. It’s incredibly hard to say what I would have done if I were you, but if I were me I would have done exactly what you did and I’m not wheelchair bound as my mobility challenges are not as severe. So I think you absolutely did the right thing for the reasons you stated. I’m looking forward to going back through your channel and binge watching!

    A good looking project. Just a hint, drills are not the best thing to make holes in fabric, although it seemed to work fine here. It's usually best to use some kind of hole punch available at auto parts stores or handicraft stores. The problem with drills is that many times they will catch threads in the fabric and put pulls in the fabric and/or balls up on the bit. Please don't ask how I know this. As for what to do, you did the right thing, you took shelter and waited out the storm. Keep the good stuff coming Lisa, I enjoy your channel.

    • @Keepinitwheel306
      @Keepinitwheel306  5 месяцев назад

      I 100% agree that a drill wasn’t the best option (I’ve tried drilling through strapping before) but I was just working with the tools I had on hand and the canvas was pretty easy to manage.

    I took my kayak out once and there was a tropical storm down in Florida heading my way but not there yet. On the trip up the river, the weather was great however, the last half mile of the downriver trip, where I had to paddle in the lake, the wind picked up and was blowing against me. It took me an hour and a half and people in boats kept pulling up to tell me how much it must suck to paddle in the wind. I would have and have done what you did and waited it out.

    I like your boating arrangement. Great way to relax (when there is no storm). What you did would have been my second choice. I don't perceive lightning as being much of a danger. (I´m not saying I'm right, it's just my perception of it. In 69 years of life I have only ever observed one lightning strike, well I heard it then saw the results, despite having witnessed many storms). So my choice would have been to paddle home as quickly as possible, and accept the fact that I will get wet.
