Really rooting for you on this one, no doubt you'll track down the bits and get this back to a condition where you'd never know, someone is going to get a dream car at a bargain price!
Nice job guys. Agree that the dealer was excellent in the blower. We’ve an i3 coming up for service. Maybe we take it to them. Which BMW dealer is that?
This is Rob at his best . Poor Chris nearly had a heart attack. You know your stuff Rob and if anyone can turn this car around it’s you guys . Good luck and we look forward to the next episode
They are a team. They’d have discussed this between themselves and how much they’re gonna pay before the purchase. It’s all about making a living. Some might walk away from this but with Chris’s knowledge it’s not the daunting project that some might see.
It’s really great to see you boys enjoying what you do. I’ve had a few mental health issues and enjoying your occupation is a major part of your everyday life. I love watching you guys full of enthusiasm. I sense the joy you get from your job. It makes me feel more positive. Cheers lads 👏🏻
Very best wishes to you buddy for a complete recovery. I’ve been following Rob & Chris for years now and if you’re looking for positivity, your in the right place. Hang in there mate 🙏
Matt’s channel is great also but I don’t think I would ever buy one of his cars as he says he’s not a mechanic so that’s where I worry about the longevity of his repairs etc but great guy and great channel but rob and Chris been in the business longtime so I feel there repairs are more quality assured
What a motor, huge risk but equally huge reward, big applause to Drew first time i heard a dealer parts department who was interested and very very helpful 👏👏 good job Chris got no hair to fall out he looks a bit worried 😂😂
Hello Rob and Chris, lovely car and Drew sounded like a nice guy. A lot of your viewers are going to love you completing this job. Thank you for taking the time to upload another great video. Ged.
You guys are properly tuned in , you deserve the chance to make this perfect again and I’m certain it’s as good as sold already, well done again guys and good luck 🤞.
That battery might not be knackered Rob, it might have just shut down. When they get to a low voltage they go into self protection shutdown. If you put it on a charger it should wake up again and charge.
The engine won't let you rev it until it's up to temp. I only know this as my friend has an M4 but it's not the competition model. His M4 is a missile, so yours will be even faster. Beware, these cars are savage and gear changes happen in milliseconds, so before you know it your at 150MPH. Honestly, they are wicked fast and often bight back. It will also need the correct battery as it will throw up loads of codes that won't clear. You may also have to have the crash data removed, as the car will go into limp mode. You'll also be amazed at the complexity of the brake system and the suspension setup! Looking forward to the BMW M4 video's! Also, update your scan tool or use a Carly to scan it! Thumbs up Guys!
Hi Guys, love the channel. Only been watching a couple of weeks but hooked already. I have noticed your jump pack, I think you need an upgrade, NOCO is the way to go lads. NOCO gb70 is what I currently have and highly recommended it.
Seriously you guys keep pulling it out of the bag!!! This has to be one of the best channels on youtube currently!!! Cant wait for more on this one Thank you, Rob, and Chris👍
Brookland grey is a lovely colour. Standard metallic colour. One of my favourite BMW's the M4 comp. Can't wait to see this one finished Rob. If you don't keep it for yourself, don't sell it cheap!
It's a good job Chris is there being sensible because Rob is like a 5year old at Christmas 14:29 but wow what a car a proper nice piece of kit really looking forward to this series
That looks to be a great project. Might have to look overseas for some parts? I hope the BMW parts guy's boss sees this because he came across as really good/on the ball.
Thoroughly enjoyed this one, chaps. One of the things I most enjoy about SRUK is the fact you cover fairly “ordinary” or everyday cars (though a good mix of different things). But it’s nice to sometimes see you have a go at something really special, and this is spot on. Good luck on the headlight!
WOW!!!!!!! Rob, you've got a job on your hands finding the parts cheap enough. Think Chris has got this one easier run with the body work. This is going to be interesting.
It always amazes me how much you guys know about cars, no matter what the make or model you always know your stuff, very impressive and definitely looking forward to seeing this beast completed! Good luck fellas 👍
Hi fellas this one looks an absolute stunner 😍 can't wait to see the rest of the rebuild its going to be expensive on parts but I am positive you will get a very good earner when you come to sell it. It also sounded very nice when you were reving it up. Take care and stay lucky and healthy 👍 looking forward to Saturdays video 📹 already ❤😊
I really hope you get this one done boys. That's going to be an amazing car for someone once that's done. I'm even waiting for the next one in this series. I have a feeling that bracket on the subframe is so you can drop the subframe whilst leaving the engine (suspended) in the car. Could be a common problem on these, maybe check with BMW ?? I've watched you from the start, you're putting some brilliant work out with the equipment you're using. It's to be appluaded, because I'm sure everyone appreciates the hard work you're doing. @chris, that strut has definitely been a strut too long...
The chap on BMW parts was so nice, good on him. Had same experience when fixing my 5 series, damage to same corner and loads of parts were cheaper from dealer. Lovely car that, hope it brings a decent profit for you and Chris.
That is a beautiful car I understand it’s mad for part pricing but it is an amazing car & very rare to find I’m looking forward to seeing this one being done & finished. Well done as always lads 👍🏻👍🏻
If you strip or disconnect the water/coolant system you will need special tool if you don't have it already to vacuum fill the system, nice motor keep up the good work
Poor Chris when you said 30k his face was a delight. Not as good as your face when the lad at BMW said how much the parts were...you physically aged on camera Rob!! 🤣. Cracking car when completed! Cheers guys...
Fascinating ! This is of particular interest to me as the owner of a 2007 M6 , 1998 M3 and a 2018 M3 competition ! The price of the the headlight is unreal ! I have no doubt when you and Chris are finished it will be absolutely perfect ! The thing I like about it Rob is that there is no damage to the car itself when you removed all the bits which means it's core is original ! Very desireable car this car will fly out the door when it's finished !
You must carry yours in a wheelbarrow! Never had the gonads to pay serious money for a straight car never mind a damaged one. Looking forward to seeing this one done.
I think with the potential profit they could make from selling this car once it's repaired, it would not make financial sense for their business to keep it. 😂✌
Rob: “ I’ll run around in this for a few hundred miles just to make sure we’ve ironed out all the bugs” (it’s a tough job - but someone’s got to do it) 🤣😂🤣😂
I loved Chris's face when he thought it was 30k😂. Rob that m4 should be yours I could see how much you liked it . Nice car and great video look forward to the next one on Saturday.
Good knowledgeable parts staff are a god send, Drew certainly knew his product. When I'm hunting for parts I always try the main dealer first before going down the ebay/second hand route
This is gonna be a cracker. When this is finished I reckon Rob will give it the longest shake down ever, 2-3 months at least ... just to check for any potential faults etc 😉 🤣🤣🤣
You may have hit on a wining formula, current high value car repair , Initial higher cost ,but same amount of work for a greater percentage, return, plus more interesting car and more deserving of Chris’s undoubted skills.
A great video. It is always lovely to see Rob so enthusiastic. I suspect that this could be his next daily driver! The BMW guy was really nice. Looking forward to the next one. I think you can turn this one around quickly.
I was holding my breath when you were getting the parts prices from BMW. Although Chris is very measured in his responses, his excitement for this project was on a par with yours Rob. After the job Chris did on the 2 series coupe, this will be easy peasy! It all comes down to finding the parts at the right money with your contacts and vast knowledge of where to look for them. Can’t wait to see this coming together. I still remember the Bentley you sorted👍🇬🇧😎
I don’t normally comment but I watch every single video. I really love your passion Rob. Absolutely beautiful car. The seats are amazing. You guys have really upped your game with this one. I have a feeling this one might be one of your highest view counts.
That must've been a close call between write-off or repair; maybe it was the main dealer labour costs that swung it to bring a total loss claim. The best kind of salvage vehicle, I guess & the insurance company got a decent salvage amount too.
Top video guys and good to see you re setting the “challenge bar”. Parts costs are high but don’t lose sight of the potential end worth. You’d look good in that Rob 🤪👍
Cant wait to see the next video. Looking forward to seeing how Chris takes on that rear quarter panel. My daughter has similar damage in her 17 plate Corsa and every "dent specialist" has said - 'not repairable '! Best video in ages guys - shame it doesn't need a wash Rob...........
I have the exact same car but in frozen black. Been following the channel for years, I’m more excited than Rob about this one 😊 Great move guys the channel is def at this level now, you’ll make it work as always.
I thought this was a mark Armstrong video its something he would take on definitely a lovely car and having rob on side to fix it no doubt it will be like brand new again
Your words, "what a beast" and "huge risk". I couldn't agree more. I got excited with you when you were walking the car. Good luck on what has the potential to be your greatest project. I still love your abandoned Focus though😂😂
Great video as always. Looks like the success on the Volvo V60 gave you the confidence to go for the M4 Competition. Really looking forward to the rebuild.
Nice one Chris this is gonna be a great project ...Rob looked like a kid on Christmas morning getting his first Scalectric set he's over the moon. I'm pretty sure Matt Armstrong wanted this salvage motor too. I bet he'll be watching every video with us he'll be jealous when he see's what you got. 👍👍👍
Rob, you probably already know this... but, You can get the manufacturers number of the headlights. For example, mostly hella. You can get them direct from hella for a lot less. I did this with bi xenon headlight for a 5 series. Was £500 from hella instead of £1200 + vat from dealer
Excellent video (as always) guys. only thing I'm not keen on is the 'coming up'/preview clips at the start, as I prefer it fresh throughout the video. Maybe its just me.
Loving your uploads lads. IRC you edit on your mobile, is there an option to normalise the sound levels. it will boost the quite bits and lower the loud bits. The audio is up and down like crazy. Not wanting to sound like a moaner. :D That's a nice Beemer, drop it my way when your finished, lol. Or one of the Volvos :D

Nice job guys. Agree that the dealer was excellent in the blower. We’ve an i3 coming up for service. Maybe we take it to them. Which BMW dealer is that?
