    Dear Tony, it’s hard these days to find such an in depth gear review. Aside from the device, your work is thorough. As someone has commented, you don’t let yourself influence but those pill-like, five-minute gear reviews; instead, you dive deep into every detail that should be considered.
    I am not a RUclipsr, but I know how much editing videos can take; an hour long edited video must have taken at least 7-10 hours of work; and it seems you have done it for free. Thank you very much.
    Besides, I can see that you take care of your audience, since almost every comment has your answer.
    Greetings from Spain

      Juan what a nice post - thank you it's appreciated. I have always tried hard to show the gear in ways others never do. It takes on average for a 1 hour video about a week off and on but the time is extensive for sure. Some don't realize the time factor. I just completed a 2 hour FM3 review that took me three weeks!. Some will tell me its biased etc. but it was the truth of what I found. That's got to be the ONLY way to review gear. Juan thanks.

    I've never seen a review going this deep in to all the specs and little details of a product. This was an outstanding performance of hard work and dedication, to put out the absolute best and throughout review, to give the viewer the best possible idea of what type of product they're looking at. Thank you for all the work that you put into the review. Truly outstanding!

      Yes, Tony, your reviews are wildly entertaining and informative. I would guess that your audience is possibly a bit older, since it takes a longer attention span to sit down and evaluate the innards of an electronic device for over an hour. For those of us who can stick with you it's a joy. Thank you so much!!!

    If something like this existed back in the mid 60's when I started playing (no price could have even been put on it.) This new modelling technology is amazing across the board (budget boxes included.) I'm a Headrush user but honestly could use any of the latest products and be completely happy, as they all sound astonishingly good and offer so many great features. That being said and price not being a factor, I believe personally I would prefer the NUX over the THR30.

    • @tonymckenzieofficial
      @tonymckenzieofficial  Год назад +4

      Thanks David for that opinion which goes to make a great post. I have seen the Mighty Space compared to Spark, but to be honest, after my experiences with that company, Spark (for me) would be the last company I would consider. The Yamaha THR30 II seemed a better reference too and because Yamaha are generally pretty OK I think it was a good comparison, not item for item of course, but overall the NUX did offer more. You're right most of this stuff is improving and each year there is a demonstrable step towards the perfect 'tube tone'. I still love the tube amps better personally, but I know what you mean. I come from end of 60's and my lot was a book from Happy and Artie Traum with a 7 inch flexi disk and that was my singular learning tool for the Pentatonic... and those that could play guarded their 'knowledge' and NEVER shared it with minions like me. This device would have been literally made in heaven. Thanks for the post and for watching.

    The Yamaha THR30 is awesome for what it is but I got it about 4 months ago. Just got the wireless I ordered back then @ a $100 US. It travels well but wouldn't work with the NUX without putting a pedal between them. Thank you. I would love to try the NUX amp and compare.

      Thanks for the opinion on the Yamaha THR30 which is a good contender and comparison in many ways I think too. Tones from both are great. Thanks for watching and have a happy new year.

      :) Yes I was busy with business at work then had to go to Dallas on business. This NUX unit arrived before I left for Dallas so all the reviews I have to complete stopped. Then I picked up cov** (I think it was that eventually) and that stopped me... now Christmas... but honestly I always feel obliged to create videos. Mine are often hard to do re time (and money most the time) but I'm on them. Another one tonight on the fitting of a logo and tuners on the Telecaster (I now refer to it as a 'Tonycaster' :) so I can then make the H90 review which will probably be pretty long. Good to hear you too @aipsong and have a great new year.

    I purchased a Mighty Space via Reverb direct from Hong Kong (I think) at a great price, and am absolutely delighted with it, except that I would give it at least a 12 and maybe even a 15, in contrast to Tony. It really is an all-in-one package (the THR-30 doesn't have OD/Distortion AFAIK) and the effects are very, very good indeed IMO.... Well Done, NUX!!! And very tasty playing by Tony!!

Oh my playing was not dynamic, but I never once played to those tracks before turning them on to record... so just a jam really. Anyway, thanks for posting what you think about the Mighty Space unit otherwise some might think I was somehow biased and that was just about as far from the truth as could be. I really spared no opinion whether positive or negative. On an upcoming review of the Eventide H90 I also tell it the way I found it and some of that review I'm sure some won't like, but I always tell it like what I see. Appreciate the extensive review, thanks! Mighty Space $600CAD (pricey) in Canada a little less than THR30II. The new Boss Dual Cube LX is about the same price when you add their aftermarket bluetooth module and footswitch in but has no drums and a less useful app. Not sure I like the built-in Lion batteries here, after 3 years they're worn out. The Dual Cube has external batteries, seems a safer option. IMO, the Kat100 head still competes as the more practical amp overall. (If you add in A Super-Thanks I could tip you for your effort.)

    • @tonymckenzieofficial
      @tonymckenzieofficial  Год назад +1

      Well te issue of which one sounds better is as you know subjective. I covered the effects and amps etc throughout both videos, but as far as the tones, I played both units and its really up to you to decide what YOU like best. Having to pay £90-100 for a wireless certainly IS important to most guys and its important to me to show things like that. @@tonymckenzieofficial I agree with the comment that you need to better compare tones. It’s not possible based on watching a video to get what you hear in the room. How clear is the sound and stereo effect from the speakers? It sounded to me like the Nux may have digital sound artifacts that I haven’t heard in the THR, did you hear that?
      Looking at the parts is useful, but how well does it actually work?

    It will be interesting to wait and see what the street price will be if/when you can buy one here in the UK.
    At current exchange rates they are asking around £400 plus shipping VAT and import duty to buy one.
    That to my mind is just too much.
    I already have more amps than i realy need, some of them are the original ones that this is trying to emulate.
    So as usual i will wait for the demand to drop and see what price drops to next year.

      Well waiting a while to get one at better pricing is not silly, I have bought many items like that and even just a few months after a launch you can get good deals. This one I liked because it seems to offer much for a pretty reasonable price and it had that longer life battery in there. The import taxes are horrible as I'm sure you know, and I see those coming in for example from Warmoth - about $100 shipping PLUS the 20% tax makes it all hard work really. Good point. Britannia Stadium or Vale Park Tony? These NUX Mighty Space are the first to offer the wireless adapter, it's a nice touch an the foot pedal the 2 cables is better than having a purpose made one that would cost a fortune to replace. If i were in for a practice Amp i would consider this unit. I have the Yamaha and the Spark already. It's a shame Spark got there's out first because this may have eaten into those massive profits Positive Grid has made. I wonder if this unit will affect their sales? Actually take a look at the EQ section that I showed on the screens section of the editor. You will note that I had 'backed off' the bass as it was too much for my own liking. The speakers I believe are bigger than the THR30 II also. Don't forget that also there is the possibility of an external speaker that also can change things quite dramatically if that's a preferred option to the IR changes that could be adopted. Sounded OK to me, but it is subjective I guess. I tried hard to get those speakers out but failed... Great point that you posted and thanks for watching. Have a great new year too.

      @michaelk5507 Год назад +1

      @@RByrne I think you're correct. Only this was an in depth analysis of the product, which is an amplifier, but, there wasn't much said about the sound. It's got bigger speakers than the Yamaha 30, so it should sound bigger and with more bass, but is it a clear and polished as the Yamaha? I know this can be subjective, but as Tony has reviewed both of them it would be interesting to know his impression of the sound. Like, this NuX is on a par with the Yamaha, in my opinion, that's all. I just thought it was a bit odd.

    • @tonymckenzieofficial
      @tonymckenzieofficial  Год назад +11

      Well the sounds were good on both the Yamaha and the NUX Mighty Space. The IR's are often key to the tones we hear and some of those are loadable so there was little relating to sound differences. I did touch on the external speaker though and that certainly will change the tones - disable the IR and plug in your fave speaker cab, and it then sounds louder too. Both of those units have their own thing going on of course, but I think the tones these days on devices of similarity are moved sideways a little because they are all generally good. I agree I did spend a long time covering so many points, but those differences start to add up and should be taken in to consideration along with the tones as well. This unit and the Yamaha unit are both very good devices no doubt in my mind at all, and both performed pretty flawlessly. There are other video reviews that show more playing than I showed I can tell you so if its only the tones that are important (that is a choice) then you can see those on YT. I always try and show literally plugged in and go tones because in many instances for buyers that is exactly what they will do. My other points really enhance the review by trying to show the stuff others never do. For example I found it very interesting that the chip for output actually supports up to 50 watts - something that was not disclosed in any review. You 'might' even be able to get that output (I did not try it) with a 2 ohm load on the speaker output... and of course if you can I have not really seen that on other devices. At least, my aim is always to offer information that allows potential buyers to make as near as they can an informed decision, which in general (even for me) is often lacking from the info available in the first place. It's all a bit complex to make this sort of video, the time factor is often a major problem, but I would ALWAYS prefer to make a video review like mine with as much info as I can muster, rather than a 10 minute video of just playing really. This video took literally a week to make and is really for all the 'inside and out' reviews I complete basically the same for all the equipment I look at. Hope it helps a bit on why I create these like this. And hey you too have a great new year too and if you're USA or Canada hope you missed the weather there... it all looked really bad.

      @@tonymckenzieofficial Thanks for the detailed reply. NuX products do look like god value. They have an aggressive pricing policy because they are determined to stablish the brand's identity in crowded marketplace. Spark is cheaper but doesn't, I think, really challenge the Yamaha, which is the benchmark, soundwis, which is why I curious about how the NuX sounded. It'll be interesting to see what Yamaha comes up with next, now that so many competitors are after their crown. Good to see you well again. Hav a happy and prosperous New Year!

      Sadly I don't buy Spark products because I waited months after paying 'up front' one time. There's none of that with the NUX gear. So sorry I can't advise on the Spark. Thanks for watching.

      Wah can be external of course, but the expression control is not there. It's not really a deal breaker though (for some) and the unit reviewed is still being used here - and I'm a fanatical wah guy :). Thanks for watching.

      Well yours might be 'great' but mine? Well I would describe it as supplied as a car wreck. Don't believe me? No problem heres the video proof: ruclips.net/video/2gDvEqH3VD8/видео.html and what I eventually sis with it here: ruclips.net/video/gAiQJxiWyZM/видео.html and the seller (Thomann) did not care less. They claimed it was checked twice before selling it to me... sadly yhat was simply not true. You got a god one? Bully for you as I won't go back to the Harley Benton guitars. Thanks.

      Yes it will I have Fishman here too. Really appreciate the comment and I always try to create videos that others never do... The Mighty Space amp is one of those gems that unless you try one then often they get passed by but they deserve much better. I really liked this one, and NUX have done a good job on the stuff I have seen. Thanks for the post and thanks for watching.
