6:01 they almost got all of the original actors. Ian Holm wasn't available to play Ash, so they used someone else to voice him. He did allow them to use his likeness though.
+Roger Puzzitiello Yes - Ash is excellently played by an impressionist. Maybe Ian Holm was scared that he would just sound like Bilbo Baggins from 2000 instead of Ash from 1979.
being in the vents with that thing is the scariest part in any game ever. you can just hear it coming for you and it's hard to see and there's nowhere to go and the feeling of dread is awful. i love it.
There's a trick to fending off the alien without wasting fuel, instead of just blasting him while he's standing there, let him run at you and when he's almost in your face, then blast him, and it will make him smack you down and run off every time. The one obvious downside to that is he will take a bit of your health, so only do it to conserve fuel when you have plenty of health and medkits. By the way, enjoyed your playthrough of the main story and this, looking forward to the other DLC.
It's cool they used some deleted scenes/script from the movie for this. Not really a spoiler since you know the movie and this, but Ash sabotaging their near-success at getting rid of the Xeno was supposed to be in the movie. It lessened the impact of Ripley discovering Ash's full orders later though. The only original cast member not involved was John Hurt, since Kane is dead by that point.
You're done with the game already, but fun tidbit: after blasting the alien with that flamethrower, you can aim that thing at it standing up and actually get it to back away from you. It might even just make a run for the air vent without coming at you. Chances are slim though. Only got it to happen once. Thank you for doing this, it's fun to watch. Agree with some of your criticism too.
+Alexielx99 I knew you could point the flamethrower at it and it would hiss at you with its arms folded, but stay back. But I never once saw it ever retreat up a vent from doing that. One survival mode level, there was an elevator I needed to reach behind me - the alien entered the room and hissed at me. I pointed my empty flamethrower at it and backed slowly up into the elevator as it hissed at me in frustration. Then I slammed the button - which was its window of opportunity, but it was too late. The doors closed and I got away with it. I outbluffed the alien with an empty flamethrower.
Pick Ripley! Pick Ripley! Pick Rip-- Yah! "My fucking geeky heart is hurting right now." Join the club! When you turned that boom box on, I expected that silly radio music from the Portal series to play. 16:17 - Eughla;khsdfh;wlke! That was probably the most frightened I've been throughout the entire let's play. It crawling into the vent after you was just, ughl;akshr! Ik dacht altijd dat een hartaanvaal de manier was waarop het alien je vertelt dat je moet sterven. Also, it seems like the DLC is a little bit more difficult than the base game. Ohhhhh man. Dit gevoel is me bekend. Ik ben zo opgewonden dat ik niet stil kan zitten. Geen brandstoffen voor de vlammenwerper, dus in het donker... 19:33 Eeehk! -flails- I'm excited for the last bit of DLC, even if I am scared of it! My GaBaddiction is stronger than my fear!
What a treat! Sorry if I sounded a bit harsh on you yesterday (the written word is a pain in the ass, I can never express my opinion without looking like I'm about to eat somebody's face off [with my second set of teeth] - I know we disagree about the game) - this dlc playthrough, and the immediate unexpected smile on my face when it landed in my inbox - reminded me of why I watched all of your main campaign playthrough. It's been a joy to watch from start to finish. Your move trying to steer the alien into the airlock with the flamethrower was a great idea that I've never seen anyone else try. I was rooting for it to work. You are a terrific gamer who should play all their games on Hard (and it would be more thrilling for you rather than frustrating, I think), you're that good; I'm rubbish, and yet I'm beating Bioshock Infinite on ultra hard "1999" mode at the moment [there's a game to add to your list] - thanks to my new-found Alien skillz and a lot of patience and perseverence (which I can see you have in spades!) - I look forward to Last Survivor dlc - which I expect you to beat easily [if you keep moving like you usually do, it's much easier than this - and she sings "Lucky Star" again hehe] - go on, choose Hard! :) Thanks for a great series! :)
Well done, if you think about it carefully, in the movie Dallas only got as far as the air ducts. (No wonder seeing how much Lambert helped there. :P )
Perhaps somebody watching this would know... is it possible to actually mortally wound an alien if you run after it like a psycho? Or do they all have 1338 h4x?
The flame thrower ruins the game. It should have been something you got really late in the game with a very limited amount of fuel. In the main story, when you're running around the medical area it's incredibly tense. I even stopped playing it my first play-through because it was so stressful, but then when I got the flamethrower I didn't even feel the need to sneak most of the time.
I'm super late to the party here, but I have no idea how many times I yelled at the screen that you weren't doing it right. 😂 but when you threw that flare in there & the alien started to go in but immediately turned around & went in the vents, it was like it knew you were messing with it. lmao.
Hey , did you know that in the original alien book , the door actualy closed but the alien was fast enough to get out before the door closed but the door traped one of it's arm . So yeah , in the book the alien had only one arm because of that . You should rly read it or listen to the audio book ..it's here on youtube if you look for it ^.^
Oops that is obviously not ash I don't even no why because ash is male and she is female but what is her name again I forgot I am terrible at movie names and it's not because I haven't seen the film : )
hi ! i would like to see you try bloodborne on youtube. It's a very hard game. I don't know if you will like that game but you need to try :) Sorry for my English, i'm french.
+Kaito .Link Small amount time reserved to play, record and edit to have scheduled 2 videos a day and plus a regular day job... It couldn't be productive don't you think.
+252Dazz252 I played on hard the first time through both the main game and the DLC. It isn't because I'm skilled but because it isn't a true horror game when the alien isn't a threat, and replaying the game on harder modes just isn't interesting since you more or less know what's coming even if it's more difficult to deal with.
252Dazz252 In horror games I am looking to experience horror, and so I simply assume that the highest available difficulty is "scariest". Also, normal isn't always the game's intended difficulty. In several games it quite explicitly isn't. Halo famously calls Heroic "the way [the game] is meant to be played".

Exactly i was terrified at that point i ended up switching the game off (looking for a friend)
The way those little vents open from the slightest passing creeps me out everytime.

Also Ian Holm didn't take part for some reason so they called in a really similar sounding voice actor to replace him.
"I'am fucking Ellen Ripley" - GaB 2015
Oh my!
Also Kane (the guy who got face hugged) was shot out in space already when this is taking place for the DLC.
+Hatty McMaddy a hoonter must hoont.
Leave the hoontin' to hoonters; hoonters should hoont boosts
the best thing about watching GaB is she will fangirl just as as hard alongside you :)
Aw your giggles :3
I was the same way when I played the DLC
Anybody else get the urge to open everything with a green light and loot the ammo/cash inside Borderlands style?
Damn the vent part with the alien was pretty stressful! but Ellen it's priceless!!
The Alien was really persistent here. I guess it was just VENTing.
Aha
Ha
Ha
YEEAAAAAAAHHH!
Weird, your alien was way more aggressive in the DLC than mine, even though I played on hard.
16:09 Well i know the plan was to vent it in to space but i think the game took vent and space a bit to literally.

Oh, I really liked the ending to this! I was wondering how it was going to conclude, given that it was called "Crew Expendable" :p
The vents are real... hahahaahhaahaaha, nice action there
This is the only DLC I actually played all the way through. xD
I didn't even know this game had a DLC..... :O
Pick Ripley! Pick Ripley! Pick Rip-- Yah!

14:00 oops was that Brett?
They didn't get Ian Holm for Ash.
I'm totally fangirling over here!
Perhaps somebody watching this would know... is it possible to actually mortally wound an alien if you run after it like a psycho? Or do they all have 1338 h4x?
+tin pin They can't die I think..

I'm super late to the party here, but I have no idea how many times I yelled at the screen that you weren't doing it right. 😂 but when you threw that flare in there & the alien started to go in but immediately turned around & went in the vents, it was like it knew you were messing with it. lmao.
HOW DO YOU DO THIS WITH OUT GETTING SCARED😭😭😭😭😭😭 I’m getting jump scares watching this

Who? What time in the video?
The one at the beginning who is sitting down crying. : )
Pascal Vanille That's Lambert. :) She was supposed to represent the audience's perspective in the situation.
Oh I see thanks and I get how she can represent the audience so that is pretty clever. Thanks for telling me. : )
