This has finally been nerfed to not be a Private Aura, thus making this video largely obsolete! I'm going to leave it up so interested people in the future can see what the fight used to be. If you're looking at doing this fight now, there should be a much simpler WeakAura solution (likely in the liquid weakaura pack once it's updated) that will do these assignments without need for macro presses, though you'll still want to set up some immunes for the third set.
lost basicly a whole evening raiding and leader spend 10 hours trying to debug and found out the debug option in custom options to test the weakaura was on so one press would generate a fake press and we would get to the 10 people treshold after only 5 people pressed. this was particularly hard to find because all 10 people did press correctly and only once in most tries, but not all. we even made sure everyone was deleting every single other weakaura and downloading the whole custom made package glad this is gone and hope it never returns
i think a fun fix would be that you get purple or red, depending on which colour you soak first so if you are assigned to L1 purple, you always soak the leftmost purple. And since purple is the first colour you soaked, you're then locked to that colour. The whole mechanic would function the same way, only first set would be forgiving, and everything can be pre-assigned
You don't need weakaura to open your eyes and look at the screen. The fact that players are looking for ways to simplify the game for themselves does not mean that it is necessarily necessary.
@@CeilingPanda Non weakaura bosses is a Patchwerk. For everything else, if the boss has at least 1 ability, people will do weakaura, simply because people always want to simplify the game for themselves
btw a couple of guilds have asked me about situations where the weakaura doesn't work and assigns the wrong colors to people. I know there are also some reports about this on the wago page for the liquid weakauras. it's possible there's a bug in there, sometimes we would get slow assigns despite knowing we pressed 10 macros (and seeing the 10 reports in raid that we did) so i'm not 100% sure what's going on. it's also possible that the extra action button addition to the macro interferes with it in some way? maybe it needs to be placed below the weakaura part of the macro? i'm not sure. one thing that seeemed to work for us whenever the weakaura was being weird was to all relog.
Could you conceive if a no macro strat with 6 immunities, where every set an immunity covers orbs 1 thru 5, 16 thru 20, then the remaining 18 players deal 6 through 15 yolo?
this could maybe work although it's worth noting if you immune the first or second set you still get both debuffs that would make soaking any orbs in future sets one-shot you
Doing this without a weakaura you could just have a priority based on your raid frames assuming everyone had them in the same order. So if you are for example 7th on the list you would have to look at the debuffs of the first 6 ppl to know which orb to soak. First 10 ppl would go to the right and last 10 to the left and they would count from the bottom.
Last 3 fights of this raid are ridiculous because of those mechanics that require a shitton of addons and weakauras to work. Blizzard, please, get your shit together and give us normal fights
Terrible explanation, I’ve done normal and heroic. Trying to go for mythic and this gave me less info than normal/ heroic guides with no dbm understanding

adding the /s in the macro and binding to extra action is actually genius
Really appreciated the tech demo, thank you Dratnos

Blizzard will say they want the game to not need weakauras and then do this shit.
While this is garbo without WAs it takes time to design good non WA bosses after so many years of designing around always having them

what if the first 10 people who go to the right all get fire debuff and there is no one over there to soak the purple orb?
@@Arcticp75 i think in blizzard’s head they wanted people to line up, look to see who got which debuffs, and go to their positions based off of that
thanks for the guide, but what a dumb intermission phase that its

What the actual fuck?
Too much rambling to be honest, have to constantly skip to see the actual guide.
