Wow has that been confirmed? I love the franchise and the na'vi language so much, and I was quite confused on why everyone would speak english. I started thinking maybe they learnt it in order to understand the humans during war times and was really sad I didn't get to hear more of the language amongst the characters
@@annie.phoenix Yup, when there's all Na'vi, they are speaking Na'vi but for us got translated to english. However when they are with humans/Avatars (except Spider, he talks full Na'vi too), we hear them speak Na'vi, case in point when they get captured, Lo'ak and Kiri talk in Na'vi with Quaritch.
Damn it's rough to see Aaron's fatherly instinct and reaction to Neteyam's story. Man knows exactly what he would do for his own kids and his heart breaks seeing the parents watch their son die
A thing I did not expect to happen for me watching the movie was having some anxiety and ptsd stuff happening during the sinking ship scene. I am previous Navy, and seeing them going deeper into the ship was just having my body curl and making me cringe from fear. It was a tough scene to get past.
I understand what you mean, I have a huge fear of the ocean, or just open water really and the scenes where they're just out in the sea was painful. Especially when the kid was getting chased and whenever the whales opened their mouths like that I had to turn around 😂 I was about to cry when he went into the whale's mouth lol
Y'know, at first when I saw that final shot of Jake opening his eyes yet again, I rolled my eyes. But I think I get it now. The 'fortress' is not the Metkayina home per se, but all of Pandora. Jake's not just going to try and mitigate, he's actually going to fight for the planet again. Not sure if he knows about the terraforming plans yet, but the fighting spirit is back - the best defense is a good offense? We'll see in two years!
Yeah, can't wait to see what visual voodoo they pull for the next one. This one was that next-level water simulation they designed for the movie. We're supposed to be getting intense cloud and high-atmosphere simulations for the next one, so I guess we're going air-themed.
Obviously we have to go around and make all the unique connections of Aiwa(sp?) like the other Avatar (water earth fire air) and master all types of civilization types and their legendary mounts.
I'm glad you guys didn't write off or hate on Spider like so many people who've seen/reacted to this film. Honestly, Spider in my opinion is the most compelling character in terms of potential emotional/dramatic character arcs. The relationships he has with the Sully kids (that see him as a friend/brother) vs Jake & Neytiri (that see him as a "stray cat") vs Jake (adoptive father) & Quaritch (bio father) all have really interesting potential for conflict and character growth.
I was surprised people had issues with him, he wasn't annoying as people claimed him to be and not stupid to just believe he could just instantly change the villains mind
@@alyssabullock6421 I know! It's mind boggling to me. He's such a selfless and kind kid who's been treated so poorly in this film. Genuinely I think the Spider haters have approximately 0 emotional intelligence to be able to ignore that he was treated like a "stray cat" by the closest thing he has to a father figure, tortured by the RDA, and then spent an extended amount of time with Quaritch who actually gave him some semblance of attention and importance (albeit a serious case of Stockholm Syndrome). Some of them even go so far as to retroactively blame him for Neteyam's death because he saved Quaritch. They don't understand that he's never had a father figure that tried to protect him in his life. Anyway, when all's said and done I don't think Jake has earned the right to call Spider his "son" considering he only seemed to give a damn about him when his firstborn son died in part to protect him.
I feel like Kirri is actually the reincarnation of Grace and their great mother Eywa. At the end of the first movie Grace was going to permanently be Navi but she died before it could finish. So Kirri is a part of Grace and Eywa
Grace died as they were trying to transfer her from the human body to her Avatar. She didn't make it through so to speak. That's how the movie ended. And now they are saying that the Avatar body later birthed Kiri, spoken by the same actress. So it looks like the transfer kinda worked.
Yeah, the Navi body was still alive, just not responsive because grace was dead. So they kept the body on life support when they realized it was pregnant
I mean they said her soul was with eywa at the time so it's possible that then the tree transferred a different soul into the body as a baby or something.
Seeing this movie in 3d was incredible. I know 3D movies get a bad wrap historically, but the technology James Cameron uses for the Avatar movies makes the 3D experience AMAZING. It was such a cool experience that I'm currently in the process of finding a way to burn and convert the Blueray to a VR 3D compatible format so I can watch it in 3D VR again at home.
You guys probably didn't catch this, but the girl who played the wife of the Water tribe was Kate Winslet, so it was ironic when you made the Titanic connection with the boat sinking considering this is her second collaboration with James Cameron. So much of this film feels like a greatest hits of James Cameron's films. The action at the end definitely gave me True Lies and Aliens vibes, including the new mech suits the humans have and the little sister falling down the drain ala Newt in Aliens, the mobile, one-man subs reminded me a lot of The Abyss, Quartich crushing the skull in his hand gave me serious Terminator skull crushing vibes, the ship sinking definitely recalls Titanic, & the flooding was very Titanic and The Abyss, kinda weird how so much of this film is sort of a compilation of his whole career.
One of the reasons they have to film underwater is bc unlike Calvin suggested water has resistance that can’t be naturally simulated with “dry for wet” techniques. Super intricate and corridor crew made great vids on it.
This was SO GOOD. I was trying not to expect anything because i didn't want to be too disappointed since i loved the first movie so much, but i was blown away.
After the first movie, I wanted to see more of Jake and Neytiri. After the second, now, I want to see more of Spider, Lo‘ak and Kiri. They‘re left off with huge inner conflicts: Kiri always felt alienated and different, because of her intense connection to Eywa. Spider joined a family he never really was considered part of, after saving their mortal enemy. He‘s formed a bond with Quaritch, but chose to live with the Sully‘s and with the fact that Neytiri would’ve happily off‘d him to save Kiri. And finally, Lo‘ak. He saw his brother die, his dad literally told him it was his fault and he believes so himself. Then, there is his Spirit Brother Payakan, who probably will be disliked even more, because he had chosen to kill again. Of course I‘m excited to see more of the others as well, but I‘m most thrilled by those three. I believe, because of their inner conflicts, that they will grow more and more distant with the Sully‘s. After losing Neteyam, Lo‘ak will get even more protective over Kiri and she herself is very protective over Spider. I think that the trio will grow closer and eventually help each other with their struggles. And they probably one day will be joined by Tsireya, who has formed a deep bond with Lo‘ak and because of her good soul, she will not let him grieve alone and will stay close to him, because she cares for him.
My theory for what will happen in the next movie is Jake is definitely going to have to rally up all of the Na'vi tribes he can find, and he probably will be traveling from biome to biome trying to convince tribe leaders to join their battle. Maybe one of the tribe leaders will feel threatened and disagree and will be kind of a secondary antagonist. We’ll probably see his son step up more as a main character. And I think that marine biologist guy will probably still be alive and will be hanging out with the scientists. We’ll probably get some stuff with Spider and the Colonel too.
He's gotta go biome to biome and connect with their ancestor sites while learning their ways and one of the family members masters their legendary Poké mounts. Then Grace-Kiri can do the MacGuffin thing at the place and control the whole planet.
I know this is a few months old but the Avatar franchise is my special interest and just wanted to let everyone know that Spider’s mother was named Paz Socorro, she was a fighter pilot under Quaritch and was killed in the war. She isn’t mentioned in the movies but she’s mentioned in the comic Avatar: The High Ground
I really don’t understand the hate this movie received. I’m fine with people not liking it. But their reason are very contradicting. 1) They would say it has a simple plot. But mind I ask, WHEN HAS THIS EVER BEEN A PROBLEM? One of the most profitable movies last year were top gun maverick. Receiving praises all around, never heard a complaint about the movie being too simple (which it is). And don’t get me stated with marvel and Star Wars content. Like it feels like there’s a hidden agenda with people and this movie. Because even before it released they’re were people non-stop hating on a film that has yet to be released.
It’s baseless hate because they hate Cameron. Cameron is rumored to be a real dick and hard to work with so automatically that means people use that as an excuse to hate every movie he makes regardless of whether it’s good or not.
The younger/child actors in this movies were 🔥. I really enjoyed their performances and i wish they had been the main characters. That would have made the film so much interesting
Not really. Ppl cared about them mid-movie or toward the end because we had time with them. The choice to make them the main characters in movie 3 or 4 is a better call in my opinion ;).
I don't believe Neytiri ever intended to kill Spider. The threat was just for show. After she cut him, she threw him behind her, not toward Quartrich. She may think he belongs with his own kind, but she knows how much he means to her own kids. ijs
One of the reasons I absolutely adore you guys is the fact that you always wait and hold off on watching these films to record it for us to see your reactions 🥺 love you guys
I saw this in 3D and it was stunning. Me and my mom just stayed in the theater for the credits to look at the beautiful, calming ocean scenes. I've been snorkeling and the visuals are almost 100% realistic!!! Insane.
I think because the hype and the visuals the Avatar movies have this expectation of some revolutionary story but that isn't the point and never has been. It's about the simplicity and beauty in culture and in nature. The fellowship of community and family. It's long because learning and adopting into a new culture cannot and should not be done quickly. There is so much symbolism in the training scenes and how it can correlate to our society that I could write a whole novel. All in all this movie is much better when you rewatch with the first one fresh in your mind and you focus less on what is going to happen in the main story and more on what is going on in the moment and what that means.
One of the great little details that Cameron got so right and all of these other movies (Aquaman) get wrong about underwater cinematography is that the actors or characters have air bubbles forming on their skin.
Easily my favorite movie of 2022. I implore everyone to see this movie in 3D, especially imax 3D at least. Real 3D is gonna look kinda framey in some scenes. I’ve seen this movie at least 5 times, and I can’t wait to see what James does with 3- yes I’ve read about the aggressive fire Na’vi but there’s also a confidence he displays here introducing sm cool things like Bridgehead or future antagonists- possibly immortal ones who’ve been on that Taikun juice- which I can’t wait to see be used in the future
Something that I’ve been thinking about is Kiri’s seizure could be because she was essentially plugged into god and there is only so much that your brain can take of that before it takes its toll, and the reason she sees her mother is for lake of better phrasing, eywa is using Grace as an avatar to communicate through the “memories” and it could be in part actually Grace because she was “with eywa” when she died in the first movie so it could have actually been her talking and not eywa but I like to think it ended with eywa talking to her through grace.
i watched this in IMAX and 4d and it was incredible! i understand the pace isn’t for everybody but this is how james cameron works and it to me is amazing, i like the realism and the slow build. the cgi and cinematic experience is something else and i loved it
about spider , spider never had a real family , only at the end of climax jake call him "son for a son " in the beigining he was just a stray cat , if u read the comics spider makes much more sense ,there is a line in comic spider adopted us , which means he sees jake's family as his but they see him as merely a stray cat except kiri.
Jake sees Loak as an extension of himself. He always expects the worst of him. But Jake sees Neteyam as an extension of his twin brother who he probably has a lot more respect for
I had the same issue that Aaron had. It's very weird that the water peeps just disappeared for some reason. That and then how the colonel knew he had killed one of his kids and said it over the radio yet he had no way of knowing that.
1- Cameron said that he cut 10 min of action’s scenes because they were too graphic. Also Ronal and Tonowari were supposed to reunite with tsireya and the Sully at the end but Jim said it didn’t work well on the screen testing because it shift the focus from the core family 2- They had scope on their guns they were able to see the family mourning neteyam.
I couldn't help but laugh at all the people online who said the movie would flop and i was like no it's making over 2 billion at least and it's made 2.5 billion.
This movie went by so quickly for me. I would not have minded if it was like 4 hours. I was so invested. I could literaly watch hours of just a documentary of this planet with David Attenborough narrarating
I appreciate the fact that you guys waited to watch this by not going to the theatre but you guys really should watch Avatar movies on the big screen. To experience it in full potential of in 3D/Imax. At least do it for the next Avatar movies.
So apparently the reason the Metkayina disappeared in the end was because James Cameron thought their kills were too brutal or something. I’m not sure we’re they got this info from but I thought I could mention it.
Kiri is actually played by Sigourney Weaver, who played Grace in the first one. I saw some interviews with her and James Cameron about it. He said it was incredible to see Sigourney immerse herself in this teenage character and she was describing how great this role was for connecting with her teenage self again after such long time. It is really incredible technology which can allow actors to play roles they would otherwise never be able to.
I remember when this came out people gave crap to Spider for being a traitor and suddenly switching sides all the time. He never switched sides. He accompanied them because he kind of had to or just continued to be locked up where he couldn't do anything. Sure Spider was a little conflicted because but way too much hatred. Same thing with the hatred on Jack. I could see him being a loving father until the war and his military training kicking in and treating them more like soldiers, disassociating a bit due to the stress and change in mindset, and being stricter with his sons.
This was such an incredibly thrilling experience visually and in terms of action! The family dynamic may have been wonky at first but by the end, it absolutely rocked! Seeing it in the cinema with 3D blew me away! It’s a slow movie to really take in since it’s one you’re supposed to, definitively, live it. SUPER EXCITED FOR THE NEW SEQUELS! 😍🙌 P.S. Tuktirey is the best kid. 💞
Just realised something… a rear naked choke would be deadly underwater, coz you can’t escape it. You can’t elbow them, you can’t do a shoulder throw, you can’t even back headbutt, you’re just done at that point 👍🏽
Man I love these Avatar movies but if James Cameron let a team of writers come for the next few movies and set up a more unique plot, I think the writing for the characters is fine they just need a better story, with James amazing directing and visuals combined with a unique story would send these movie to another level
I’m fine with these long movies because they are able to fit the story in without having to cut things out that they don’t want to, movies between 2:45 and 3:20 hours are perfect
I watched it last week and I really liked it! They filmed Avatar 3 at the same time and it will release december next year. This happens 16 years after the first movie, so Spider and Neteyam are both 16 years old. Some fact that will blow your mind: Apparently the whole movie was shot at 24 fps but the action scenes at 48 fps so the 24 fps scenes were duplicated. The fact that they had to come up with new motion capture for filming scenes underwater is mindblowing to me. The VFX for Avatar 2 needed 3.3 billion thread power.
I had every intension of seeing this one in theaters multiple times. The tul'kun hunting scene messed me up. I could not make myself sit through that again in that large of a scale. I barely held it together after Neteyam. I knew the moment he showed back up on the boat he was going to die but it didn't make the hurt any less, especially with Zoe's performance. You can tell she tapped into something built into mothers for that anger, grief, and sadness.
Idk if it has been confirmed but my opinion about Kiri is that she is a product of them trying to save Grace last movie by having Aewa transfer her into her avatar but it not working. Kiri could be Aewas way of bringing Grace back to life, which is why Kiri is shown to have this giga connection to Aewa and the planet.
Fantastic four is one of the only upcoming marvel movies I’m actually hyped for. I just feel like they know they absolutely can not mess that up cus once they get introduced they’re gonna big players in the mcu going forward for years. I’m also excited for the X-men but it looks like we aren’t gonna get them until after kang dynasty and secret wars
There are movies with better characters, dialogue and plot, but still Avatar 1/2 are my favorite movies ever. Cameron somehow managed to satisfy tose deep instinctual urges within us. Hard feeling to explain
I watched this in theaters it was awesome I loved it the brothers death reminds me of when Jake said he had a brother but he was killed it’s like the cycle continued which is bittersweet because both older brothers were just trying to protect the younger ones and they don’t see that until they are gone the ending had me in tears jake being able to see his son one last time ik that they said they practically grew up on set together the little girl is now the age they were when they started making this movie
so, in the first one grace was dying so they took both her and her avatar to the tree thing and connected both trying to move her soul from her dying human body into the healthy avatar body. it was what they did with Jake, but he wasn't dying. you can look at kiri one of two ways i think: 1. she is the daughter of both Grace and eywa (mother nature). 2. it's grace, reborn. eywa couldn't complete the transfer of souls, but she could transfer Grace's soul into the avatar as a pregnancy
okay, you guys do know the connection sensors are in their “hair” and not their tails right? everyone keeps using them interchangeably when they aren’t lol
I feel like this movie was def setting up the third movie and really starting to build these characters because the family is going to be a big focal point, especially Kiri and Loak. I loved this movie so much and I think it was beautifully shot and man those water scenessss....so darn real. But yea all in all this movie was a big setup for what is to come for the next 3.
I got exactly what I was expecting with this movie. I went in expecting a great world, groundbreaking visuals and special effects but nothing special story-wise, just like the first movie.
I find it funny that most of Eric's critiques are aplicable to Marvel and Star Wars movies, especially the one about Stephen Lang coming back from the dead. I didn't like it either, tbh, but I found his critique about it funny.
I think he went into the film expecting not to like it. That’s the vibe I got anyway. I think it’s become so popular to dunk on these movies, and sadly Eric seems to have latched onto that. Sure, these movies aren’t flawless or masterpieces or anything, but they are perfectly good and enjoyable movies. I’m just happy to see more original IP’s (not based on an existing work) like this thriving.
Everyone has said it a million times, but yeah, seeing this in IMAX was unlike anything else. It topped the experience of the first movie for sure, even when nothing had since.
Saw this in theaters, and gotta say.. it was visually stunning. The water is gorgeous, and the scenery is breathtaking. But the story is even more forgettable than the first one. At least I remember the first one being basically blue Pocahontas. This one, I vaguely remember "family good" and "whaling bad", and being annoyed to hell that kid saved the guy that got his adopted brother killed, and almost killed the rest of his adopted family.
56:02 I hate seeing Aaron cry man, it's always when the kids get hurt or killed in movies when he cries cus he's a father and you can tell it affects him more.
First of all, it came out on my birthday last year so I watched it with a group of friends that night. The cinema was sold out! I work at a theater and watched it (for free) another 4 times. It was in theaters for almost as long as Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Three whole hours and 20 minutes of beauty. Cant wait til the next installment! I've been waiting on this reaction from you guys.
they did plan on making sequels of the film back then but james already had the script on the 2nd and was consistent about the water theme but the technology of cinema wasn't evolved yet so he disappeared in the oceans and made documentaries about the deep sea.
They already have a lot of the next film or 2 done too don’t they? I think I remember reading somewhere that they filmed all of avatar 2 and 3 back to back and some parts of avatar 4 it’s just that they need to do a bunch of post production stuff to finish up the next ones but the scenes are already filmed is that true? Reason I’m asking is cus I wanna see the story continued but I’ll be bummed if we have to wait another 5-10 years for avatar 3. Like if they don’t start getting these done quicker they’ll never finish the story
Having adored the first film, I was looking forward to its sequel for years, like other fans have. I even went to an IMAX 3D showing, w/ my parents, for the rerelease of the first film this past September to refresh my memory, before seeing the sequel. When Way of Water released in theaters, I was there the Thursday it opened back in December, loved it from beginning to end. Even though it was a standard screening. A week later, I spent over $160 for an IMAX 3D showing. Took my parents, my sister, her husband n their 2 daughters along w/ me to experience the film. I enjoyed it even more, the 2nd viewing. JC’s plan is 5 films in total I believe. The 3rd film is already shot, n is being edited down to whatever runtime JC is comfortable w/. So the wait won’t b as long this time. 🤣👏
Not sure if it's just a coincidence but when kiri asks grace "who was my father" the only words that really come out were "my god". since grace's God was eywa it could of been a subtle nod to eywa being kiri's "father" and the reason why she's special. Great reaction y'all 👍
Im glad yall waited to watch it so we could see your reaction, but man you should have seen them in the theatre. It was a movie made to be experienced in a theatre
You know, I definitely understand what Eric is saying about the CGI character barrier. I felt the same way watching it in theaters. Even though the Navi are so well done now and realistic, there's still something in my head that prevents me from treating them the same as real human actors. It's almost uncanny valley but not quite that - hard to describe. And traditional animation skips uncanny valley, so I don't have this issue there. I'm quite emotional normally and really wanted to feel for the son's death and the family's reaction to it, but I just didn't really feel that emotional connection. Still, it was very beautiful, and I'm glad Cameron took so long to work on the sequels because it shows. Unbelievable how beautiful the ocean was.
some movies are made for theatre experience , avatar movies are such ones , the 3 hrs doesnt feel like it . and about water navi vanished beacuse its already 3hr movie , and they have to cut some scenes from the climax , thats why only sully vs colonel battle was shown after at some point in climax.
I love you guys, but kinda upset you didnt like the main bad guy coming back for this movie. I loved the concept of him coming back to finish what he couldn't, but it's kinda a different character. I think in the sequels, this version we meet will turn good, but another avatar with his conscience will come back with even more hate for what his past self became. I think the rivalry between jake and Q could be as legendary as ash and team rocket.
This version will turn good? Because he showed so much goodness this movie right? Lmao. His only decent act was being somewhat kind to Spider. Who's his son. Thats it. Everything else he does isn't just evil, but he does it with sadistic pleasure
@@Billyregin maybe not so much turn good but i think its to be assumed he is growing to like the planet and if he starts thinking for himself or they try to cancel his program and he escapes he could be on the "good" side....
It's crazy that Sigourney Weaver voices Kiri.. I have watched this movie a few times and I kept thinking that I recognised Kiri's voice but then after checking it, It is Sigourney Weaver 🤔
Yep it’s her. I’m not 100% sure but I think the character of Kiri actually is grace. I don’t think she’s her daughter through eywa but more so a reincarnation of grace herself if that makes sense which is why James Cameron used the same actor even though here’s she’s only like a 14 year old
As a fan of the OG, I felt this was worth the wait. It also was amazing in HFR 3D in theaters, but I was so attached to the characters and relationships. So that is why I'm more biased towards this whereas you guys had a different opinion. Your complaints are fair, I don't pretend these movies are perfect, but I am glad that you enjoyed the ride. My favorite characters are Quaritch, Kiri, Tuk, and Spider, but I love the whole cast. And the whole Recombinant idea has me thinking all kinds of ethical, moral, psychological, etc thoughts. I love that Aaron brought up the idea that the Recoms are just seen as tools that can be disposed off once the mission is over. I really hope Cameron goes through with that idea so Quaritch (and Lyle, who definitely didn't die! And Mansk is a big question mark) has some doubts, goes rogue/lone wolf to exact his revenge.
Once I saw the titles of the next movies they are making then the connection with kiri in the planet made sense, one of the next movies is literally gunna be called “the search for ahway” I think
The biggest surprise factor for me was the big whale in the end that came to rescue and help fight against the humans, it learned it knew of how the harpoon worked and adapted

I agree. Spider is pretty cool
I watch other reactions, asking why spider was helping the sky people, clearly weren't paying attention.
He has to help them because he had no choice.
I feel like Kirri is actually the reincarnation of Grace and their great mother Eywa. At the end of the first movie Grace was going to permanently be Navi but she died before it could finish. So Kirri is a part of Grace and Eywa
Kiri is the avatar of Eywa in a sense.
i think this so too, cuz why else would she be voiced by sigourney weaver LMFAO
@@cocothecuti3446not just voiced, acted by her too.
Isn’t that exactly, explicitly what the movie tells you to think/know
Zoe Saldana's performance of grief was so amazing, just gut wrenching stuff. Then in the fight scenes as well.
So they kept the body on life support when they realized it was pregnant
thank you!! that's what I think too!
3dbluray should come out June 20
Yeah, it was fucking sweet
It's so much better in 3D that the movie loses a bit it's magic and immersion in 2D for me. The VR viewing potential sounds insane
Payakan is such an Awesome character, is great to see him
Yeah he really came to save the day
Payakan best boy 🐋💙
Cameron said next movie will have evil Na'vi and the tribe will be the fire Na'vi.
@@jakewheeler6014 not fire, but more like the ashes
@@Ssecave I think it would have been, imo, if they had been the protagonists. Jake and Neytiri aren’t that interesting, really
@@chasehedges6775 tf are you talking about? They did focus on the kids more then jake and neytiri this movie💀
Good news for you then: I think James has said Lo'ak is going to be the protagonist for the 3rd movie :3
I don't believe Neytiri ever intended to kill Spider. The threat was just for show. After she cut him, she threw him behind her, not toward Quartrich. She may think he belongs with his own kind, but she knows how much he means to her own kids. ijs
Yeah, but... who was supposed to tell _him_ that?
I'm guessing you're not a mom
One of the reasons I absolutely adore you guys is the fact that you always wait and hold off on watching these films to record it for us to see your reactions 🥺 love you guys
I saw this in 3D and it was stunning. Me and my mom just stayed in the theater for the credits to look at the beautiful, calming ocean scenes. I've been snorkeling and the visuals are almost 100% realistic!!! Insane.
57:46 one of my favorite bow and arrow kills I’ve seen in a movie
I’m really glad you guys reacted to this but yous missed out not seeing it in theatres, it was truly an incredible experience.
the score in this movie was insane especially the battle in the sea
Man, it hurts watching Aaron reacting to the death of Neteyam knowing what he’s going through in his personal life
Why? What is he going through?
I’m wondering too ;-;
Something that I’ve been thinking about is Kiri’s seizure could be because she was essentially plugged into god and there is only so much that your brain can take of that before it takes its toll, and the reason she sees her mother is for lake of better phrasing, eywa is using Grace as an avatar to communicate through the “memories” and it could be in part actually Grace because she was “with eywa” when she died in the first movie so it could have actually been her talking and not eywa but I like to think it ended with eywa talking to her through grace.
James Cameron knows best when it comes to water in that it's both beautiful and can easily be terrifying
i watched this in IMAX and 4d and it was incredible! i understand the pace isn’t for everybody but this is how james cameron works and it to me is amazing, i like the realism and the slow build. the cgi and cinematic experience is something else and i loved it
about spider , spider never had a real family , only at the end of climax jake call him "son for a son " in the beigining he was just a stray cat , if u read the comics spider makes much more sense ,there is a line in comic spider adopted us , which means he sees jake's family as his but they see him as merely a stray cat except kiri.
Lo’ak is an extension of Jake and Netayam is an extension of Neyteri - even in the way they appear physically.
Also Ronal and Tonowari were supposed to reunite with tsireya and the Sully at the end but Jim said it didn’t work well on the screen testing because it shift the focus from the core family
2- They had scope on their guns they were able to see the family mourning neteyam.
I couldn't help but laugh at all the people online who said the movie would flop and i was like no it's making over 2 billion at least and it's made 2.5 billion.
34:30 I literally also said “There’s always a bigger fish…” first time I saw this too
God i miss being in the theater watching this movie. Such a fantastic time. The last hour / 40-mins ish of action was incredible
The thud from the arrows is amazingly perfect and scary.
So apparently the reason the Metkayina disappeared in the end was because James Cameron thought their kills were too brutal or something. I’m not sure we’re they got this info from but I thought I could mention it.
Kiri being space jesus is such an interesting concept
Kiri is actually played by Sigourney Weaver, who played Grace in the first one. I saw some interviews with her and James Cameron about it. He said it was incredible to see Sigourney immerse herself in this teenage character and she was describing how great this role was for connecting with her teenage self again after such long time. It is really incredible technology which can allow actors to play roles they would otherwise never be able to.
It's a shame to see so many refer to her "voicing" Kiri when she's giving a full-on motion capture performance just like everyone else.
10:30 its funny that you mention that as I noticed what Neytiri says here 56:40 is the navi way of saying god that's a very cool detail
P.S. Tuktirey is the best kid. 💞
Tuktirey is soooo adorable and cute and so is her actress. 😍
According to a tie-in comic, Spider’s mother is a woman named Paz Soccoro, who died in the assault on Hometree
Just realised something… a rear naked choke would be deadly underwater, coz you can’t escape it. You can’t elbow them, you can’t do a shoulder throw, you can’t even back headbutt, you’re just done at that point 👍🏽
I love this movie so much I cry every time
Man I love these Avatar movies but if James Cameron let a team of writers come for the next few movies and set up a more unique plot, I think the writing for the characters is fine they just need a better story, with James amazing directing and visuals combined with a unique story would send these movie to another level
Some fact that will blow your mind:
Apparently the whole movie was shot at 24 fps but the action scenes at 48 fps so the 24 fps scenes were duplicated.
You can tell she tapped into something built into mothers for that anger, grief, and sadness.
it was INCREDIBLE in theatres, especially IMAX and Screen X (I saw it 4 times in theatre and bought it the first day it was out on Apple TV.)
Also something that you guys, me too, didn't notice is that the Avatar that shot Neteyam didn't actually die in the final sinking scene, he survived.
We never saw the guy with the black shades die either.
Saw this movie twice, once at my local theatre then at my local cinema. It was a amazing experience this movie definitely
seeing this in the movie theatre was honestly my best movie experience EVER. i was IMMERSED
I can't wait for the third film coming next year!
I still cry every time I see this movie, this is my all time favourite movie of 2022 along with everything everywhere all at once
The third movie will supposedly revolve around a group of fire navi who disrupt the balance of the universe. Nickelodeon bouta sue.
Excited to see the wind tribe as well😅
I watched this 5 times in IMAX. Loved it every time.
One of the writers behind this movie (and the next few sequels) is also writing Marvel's Fantastic Four reboot!
I watched this in theaters it was awesome I loved it the brothers death reminds me of when Jake said he had a brother but he was killed it’s like the cycle continued which is bittersweet because both older brothers were just trying to protect the younger ones and they don’t see that until they are gone the ending had me in tears jake being able to see his son one last time ik that they said they practically grew up on set together the little girl is now the age they were when they started making this movie
so, in the first one grace was dying so they took both her and her avatar to the tree thing and connected both trying to move her soul from her dying human body into the healthy avatar body. it was what they did with Jake, but he wasn't dying.
you can look at kiri one of two ways i think:
1. she is the daughter of both Grace and eywa (mother nature).
2. it's grace, reborn. eywa couldn't complete the transfer of souls, but she could transfer Grace's soul into the avatar as a pregnancy
Or, hidden answer number 3:
Cameron wanted Sigourney Weaver in this film.
okay, you guys do know the connection sensors are in their “hair” and not their tails right? everyone keeps using them interchangeably when they aren’t lol
I saw it twice in theaters, once in standard 3D and once in IMAX 3D. The IMAX viewing was an experience. Such a visually stunning film
i wish i could plug into a tree and relive moments ive had with passed relatives and friends
I saw this in imax 3 times last year and Neteyam's end still gets to me
Saw this in theaters, and gotta say.. it was visually stunning.
1:04:49 exactly my thoughts. The just dipped and let the Sullys handle it. 😭
I wouldn’t care if the third one was 5 hours long. Cause god damn, the story telling is magical
they did plan on making sequels of the film back then but james already had the script on the 2nd and was consistent about the water theme but the technology of cinema wasn't evolved yet so he disappeared in the oceans and made documentaries about the deep sea.
The attention to detail in the hardware is impressive.
51:27 is honestly one of my favorite moments ever. They’re literally spearfishing humans
@@Billyregin Oh boy wait till you hear about this small movie called 'Return of the Jedi'

I don’t think she’s her daughter through eywa but more so a reincarnation of grace herself if that makes sense which is why James Cameron used the same actor even though here’s she’s only like a 14 year old
This movie was incredible
It’s a totally different experience watching in IMAX 3D. The next movie you guys should watch in the theaters.
Saw this opening weekend and did not go to the bathroom the entire movie, was quite proud of myself.
