Lol just bought your kit and then stumbled onto the video after. Hope it does the job for me. I Have a 2000 7.3 with the 1.00 a/r housing and the ebpv delete kit that I’m doing the rebuild on this week.
These turbos don’t look clockable? I’ve always thought a couple of these on an LS would be awesome. But only if they could be clocked for the application.
No. There is a 69.8 mm turbine and the other one is a 67.6 I think. The wastegated version has the 67.6 with a .84 a/r turbine housing. The non wastegated from the van e450 chassis 1.15 non wastegate turbine housing with a 69.8 turbine.
Most of the work done to my truck bt the previous two owners needs to be redone or completed. They were not mechanics but they really tried ill give em that. Going to send you guys my turbo someday when I get to that point. Same turbo except mine has had silicone added to the compressor housing 😂 and god only knows what else. Its not leaking oil yet though and has clearly been removed and kind of had something done to it. Whatever they did im sure its as sub par as the rest of the shit ive found digging into this dinosaur.
The stock housing only has 4 bolts but yours has 5 bolt holes you need to get that fixed with the housing oring but other than that it seems like it’s alright we will see when it builds boost
When setting the compressor housing and place is there a reason 2 drop it misaligned and slide on the other ring? it seems like it might be better for the O-ring to drop it already lined up. It's actually white grease... ha. I going to tell my wife that next time.
What are the specifications for the (4) bolts that mate the turbo housing together with the intake? I am missing one of the bolts (could that be a reason for a power leak?). Thanks!
Hello,I had bought this rebuild kit but never though of checking to see if there was play but from what I remember there was none and It wasn't making any noise previousely. In fact the only reason I decided to rebuild it was because I had to replace my up pipes with the Dorman 679-005 Turbocharger Up Pipe kit because they were leaking so decided while I had it apart just to go ahead and rebuild the turbo. When I installed the new rebuild kit, with the wicked wheel II, I have side to side play. Could this be that I put something together wrong or is it that my shaft is just wore? If the shaft is wore do you supply a new shaft with exhaust side wheel?
+Allen Reed it should have some shsft play for oil clearances especially if you didn't put oil in during the installation. It should have enough shaft play where it almost touches the housings but does not touch.
Hi man how can i get in touch with you? I have a 95 ford E350 7.3L diesel i need to buy a rebuild kit for the turbo or the whole turbo.Awesome video. Thanks
local shop quoted me $1500 for a new turbo. this will save me a bunch of dough. do your directions include torque rates for bolts? what do you recomend to clean old housing and prop? thank you
love your videos. keep it up. i have a 3.0 lilter engine and want to change my turbo for a Garrett or holset from a diesel truck. which one do you recommend for a v6 mid to high end range power? t4 flange. i have a ebay gt35 68 trim knockoff that's going bad.
+Tony De La Cruz something around 60mm. Like a gt35r or 60-1 with a .82 turbine housing or larger. An hx40 would work well. An hx35 maybe too small and choke the engine.
No. The major difference with an early 99 is also the smaller compressor housing, and also differences in up pipes, spider, CAC tubes, pedestal, etc. and I believe the exhaust manifolds too. Hit up RD2 fuel systems diesel performance on Facebook. He has the best prices around, best customer service by far! And even better, incredible shipping times
@@turbolabamerica so the extra air and fuel with the factory turbine and housing won't choke the exhaust and and make too much exhaust manifold pressure? A friend of mine bought one of your kits a while ago and we are just getting to putting it on. There would obviously be better gains up top with the bigger turbine correct? Sorry to bother you.
The turbine upgrade will make a difference but it’s not going to be a big difference , most likely 10-20 hp difference. The 7.3 has a common problem with the uppipes leak pressure. I won’t if they every truly seal. I worked on mine and made them much better than they were but they still leak., I’m going to try a few things to fix them. My point about the uppipes is that you may have a decrease in exhaust pressure as a result. When the compressor and turbine size are close in size they are usually close in flow rates, when they are close in flow rates they increase efficiency. You can use the original turbine or the larger one, either will perform well. This turbo is big in size for a stock turbo. You won’t exceed it boundaries very easy. I never did an injector upgrade on mine, I have the turbo upgrade and the terminator oil pump upgrade with the hydra tune. It runs great with this setup. I didn’t have the oil pump upgrade until we thought the oil pump went bad, that turned out to be the dim that was the problem
@@turbolabamerica yea my buddies truck has brand new up pipes so that shouldn't be an issue. He has the crossover fuel system that puts a fuel pressure regulator after the fuel galleries. And he's got a different waste gate actuator called like a big gate or something along those lines. And we did all the fuel mods to the banjo fittings and the filter housing. He's got some 6 gun tuneri think it's called and a "boost fooler" which is just a boost controller type thing that replaced the factory one. And he's got the 4 inch downpipe and I believe 5 inch exhaust to the 6 inch dual 45 cut tips.
@@turbolabamerica if your ever thinking about doing the injector upgrade it's super super simple. Face the nozzle to the sky and turn off the end and all the little springs and pins and stuff will stay right in place. Tap the old nozzle out of the end then drop the new nozzle on and screw it back together and replace the orings.
+Andrew Smith yes we have the compressor housing oring in the kit now. The rebuild kit works for the 94-03 but the compressor housing and plate and upgrade only work for the 99-03. The plate and housing may would for the 97-99 but I'm not sure, it does bolt on to the 94-97 though , the bolt pattern to the bearing housing is different on the 94-97 vs the 99-03, but I'm not sure about the 97-99.
+Audrey Elmore on the fuel injectors there are seals to separate the oil and fuel, I would guess one of your seals is leaking there or the fuel injector isn't all the way in
Ebpv plate. Closes up to help the truck warm up in colder weather. Most people delete them (even the Canadians) with no issues. The one on my truck kept getting stuck, it almost looked too big, and would catch on the crud inside the turbo (will fix with ccv mod) when the flap is closed it causes a major loss of boost and power.
The gtp38 turbine ~67mm is bigger and the tp38 turbine ~69.8 mm is even bigger. The compressor I think is about the same. Hx40 turbine is ~64mm. There is a 67 mm one too

I ordered the kit and got it in three days!!..fast shipping!!..gonna install soon...
Do you think polishing the compressor Backing plate would help the airflow?
Do you have an equivalent to T51R mod for the GTP38? I have a KC300X and miss the loud scream of the factory turbo.
Wonder how this turbo would perform on built 2jz.
Was that Hellmann's mayonnaise? As Duke's mayonnaise is giving me a real hard time sticking.
I clicked on the link for the housing and wheel. I guess it doesn't exist anymore? Is there somewhere else I can get this kit?

They aren’t clockable
So the piece before the thrust bearing is it suppose to be locked in and not spin or spin
Do u have to machine out the back when using stock shaft??

How long will the turbo last before need replaced or rebuilt?
Is this just a stock rebuild kit? Also does the whole turbo need to be removed or just the intake side?
"actually its white grease" man i was about to say lol
Flyin Sushi omg I seriously gagged when he said that.. that was so gross lolol
Maybe I can get my daughter to eat it on her sandwiches if I call it “white grease”
You masters mechanics you do a video.... ..??????
people trying to help .
If I have a 38r that blew up can I use the housing for it with your kit as the guts
I filled mine with oil overnight and it leaked through the exhaust side is that normal?
Yes.
Man freaking awesome video. Can you quote me a replacement for my 99 f250?
What are the specifications for the (4) bolts that mate the turbo housing together with the intake? I am missing one of the bolts (could that be a reason for a power leak?). Thanks!
8mm x 1.25 thread. About 12 ftlb
Probably need a 5/16 head, I have a lot of extra bolts for that

It depends with version you have. Some take a to4e rebuild kit and some can have a ball bearing cartridge installed in them.
Did you put a seal or gasket between the cartridge and exhaust housing?
The only part there is the heat sheild
