Love Brighton, but haven't been in years, but watching this makes me want to go. Great walkabout and some lovely photos, I personnally like this type of street photography the best, as it captures our time and culture perfectly, while still making the images artistic and not just a bland postcard snapshot.
You both have an amazing photographic eye, love your style. Brighton is a beautiful place, dated a gal from Lymington back in the 1990's. Cheer's from Vancouver Canada
Another good day out at the seaside Sarah, your images are spot on, can't fault the quality or processing not that I would. Love your approach to street photography you just seem to go with the flow smile and be happy and get in amongst it all nice one, great images.
My Son and Daughter-in-Law live in Brighton so we know it well. If you can't take some good Street images in Brighton then you can't take them anywhere. So many characters, so keen to be seen. It's a dream location actually. My hit-rate of good images is the highest whenever I go into Brighton. I end up chatting with many of the subjects as so many have interesting stories. One guy just happened to be the drummer in The Damned, who were performing there that evening. Mind you, I talk to anybody. Drives my Wife mad as it takes us ages to get anywhere.
Awesome images. I enjoyed it. Taking these kinds of great photos out of ordinary situations is a special talent that only a few of us have. Great idea for filming it. Not a new idea, but well used. My compliments.
Hey I saw you in blackpool when the fireworks went off and my mom took a photo with me, my siblings and you under the light dome. I love you elegant inspiring photos. Keep working hard you are producing a brilliant variety of pictures! ❤️😃
Sarah could capture the same angle, moment and timing in her images with an iPhone. It’s her skill, the Leica lens and equipment just gives all her images that legendary Pop.
Incredible stuff! I can't believe how easily Sarah got closer to the divers and just casually took their photos. I really struggle with that and the stress of getting closer to people without asking them first... From this video it seems like you both mostly walk around and take quick snaps and stay in the same location less often. Do you ever ask for permission? Do you explain yourself to the people you're trying to get close to? Or do you simply get physically closer, smile, snap a shot and hope for the best? Like Sarah, I am a very sociable person and can strike up a conversation easily.. but it does stress me out a lot. Any tips or advice on that?
Unless Sarah wants a portrait or wants to spend some time with a group of people, then she won’t ask for permission. I never do. In the UK it’s not illegal to take photos of people in a public place so we are within our rights to do what we are doing. We work fast so there is always some hesitation from the people we’ve photographed. They are never sure of whether we have taken their photo or not. The trick is always to find a way of working really quickly. A blink and you will miss it kind of approach. Zone focusing helps. Knowing what will be in the frame before you bring the camera to the eye. Often I won’t even get the camera to my eye as I react very quickly but because of my experience I know what will be in the viewfinder pretty much anyway
Where have you been all my life?! Beautiful shots, and the joy you transmit with your environment is so lovely. Thank you for taking us along and cheers from Greece.
Very inspiring work 👌👌 Currently practicing with analog M and a 28 Elmarit, do you have tips on what your approach is regarding light metering while photographing the people in the water? Do you expose for foreground? Thanks 🙏
Thank you Robert. Analog is different to digital, so the best way of metering for analog is to take a meter reading off the beach (which should be a good even tone approx 50% grey) and lock it into the camera. Then shoot as much as you want until the light changes. Sometimes the water can reflect a lot of light back at the meter causing underexposure, which is why metering from the beach is a better option. Other things you can safely meter from are grass, concrete, light brick walls. Of course, the best option for analog is a hand-held meter.
@@WalkLikeAlice thanks so much for this feedback. I currently sort of trust the centre weighted spotmeter of my MP but a separate dedicated lightmeter is a good tip. Thank you :-) 🙏
I’ve been swanning around Brighton with a Leica Q for a few years now, my pics are still highly detailed crap 😂 nothing like Sarah’s. Still I try… I’m not yet worthy of a grail Leica MA + 35mm/f1.7ASPH, maybe one day…
Loving these videos guys. Absolutely awesome. It's a relief to actually see a real street photographer on RUclips finally. :) So cool.
Thanks Gary. We do our best. 🙂
I love Sarah's photography. She makes you feel so intimate with the subjects.
Thank you
The images with the divers are fantastic! I love how you quietly gained their acceptance and worked the scene.
Very nice photos and video. Thank you for taking us along!
Thanks for watching 🙏
Cracking shots right the way through as always.

Another excellent video. Wonderful images taken as they present themselves.
Hi Sarah.
Very insightful to watch you shooting.
Thank you for the pictures. It feels like a glimpse of various lives we meet on the street.
Thank you for your kind words.
You just showed how easy yet difficult street style is simultaneously. Loved the pictures.
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed the photos.

That's very kind of you, but I've never taken any photos with an iPhone, so I can't comment on that!!
some nice works in there, especially the pier window reflection
Thank you 🙂
👍 Love your pics. How much post processing is involved in this series? Any settings you would like to share? Ty
Un trabajo fantástico!!! 😍😍

Makes me miss Brighton immensely. I only have the crummy Boston MA version :/
There’s not a lot I can say to that!!
@@WalkLikeAlice ha! Truly. I'll be back there to shoot some day. Love your work, keep it up.
Brilliant

Sarah’s technique is staggering- does she have her own channel?
We only have this one 🙂
@@WalkLikeAlice tell Sarah I think her street photography is worthy of HCB

Absolutely phenomenal & wickedly inspiring photos. Do you have a website ? 10/10 work.

That was great. I must get out! What lens?
Leica 28mm Summicron -M ASPH ;)
What lens you are using?
Leica 28mm Summicron - M ASPH
Please can you confirm what Monochrom you are using?
It's an original M Monochrom with the CCD sensor
Are you holding the camera above your head for every shot?
Above my head? No. To my eye. Maybe the GoPro makes it look that way?
@@WalkLikeAlice Is the GoPro mounted to your chest?
@@msbranston It’s usually mounted to the shoulder bag strap which is effectively across the chest.
late to the party, but this one is salmmin
