In todays video we fix my dads nbs gmc sierra. The pinion seal has been leaking for some time and we finally get the time to fix it. This video shows how to replace the rear pinion seal in a Chevrolet silverado and gmc sierra. This works on many years and if your rear end is leaking this may be your issue and fix. This is a common spot the silverado and sierra rear end leaks and is a cheap and easy fix. It can be replace in your driveway or on a lift like we used. This process will also work to replace pinion seal or fix leaks on Tahoe, Yukon and Escalade. This is the easiest video on how to replace rear pinion seal on youtube in my opinion. Its nice to help my Dad since he is always helping me.

Good video. I'm glancing at this because I haven't done one in ~30 years and mine is leaking (former GM Master Tech) and I'm just looking for a refresher on fastener sizes and such. Mine is leaking by the splines, as evident that the nut is shiny. The tip I have is to use Loctite teflon pipe thread sealer on the pinion splines before reassembly. It might eliminate a come-back.

I took my 2006 Silverado 1500 to a shop about 7 months ago and paid them to replace this seal. Now, I noticed a few days ago it started leaking again. I assumed they checked the bearing and the pinion yoke. It didn't leak right away, so maybe it is just a faulty seal or installation issue? It is under warranty yet and should be able to take it back, but what do you think about this?
