Literally went through a dozen of YT lobster tail recipes and this is by far the simplest, fastest and yet the best of all of them. Made surf and turf for the wife as a ninja (surprise) Valentine's dinner as I knew we were both getting out of work late and would be too tired to go out and wait an hour for a table. Needless to say she said that it was the best (and cheapest) valentines dinner for the past 36 years we've been celebrating. Thanks for this post- now I only have to worry about how to top this next year :)
Thank you so much for not adding too many spices. I went to a restaurant , ordered two tales they were so covered in spice and over salted. And over cooked !! I sent it back. Lobster doesn't need anything but salted butter to dip the meat into. That is the best. ❣️
After looking at many recipes and methods of preparing lobster tails, I choose this one and am so glad I did. It was easy and I loved the way you explained everything step by step. I am so happy you mentioned the rack placement in the oven for broiling the lobster tails. I prepared this for a stay at home New Year's Eve dinner. It was delicious and very easy!!!
Thank you for your great video on preparing lobster tails. You are the only one that lets us know what the internal temp should be for the tails. This helps a lot!
Looks great! I noticed in some videos, people remove the digestive tract from the tail, but in other videos, like this one, it’s not removed/mentioned. Anyone have an explanation for this?
Not sure why after you cut the shell, you did not remove the meat from the shell, then place it on top of shell. That saves a lot of hard work when eating, no?
Thank so much Rachel for this video tutorial on how to cook lobster. I have tried a few times over my years, but not with much success. Now I know I will have the success because you showed and explained it so easily. Sooooo, , when on sale guess what I am having for dinner for hubby and me. I am assuming you bought fresh. Thank you my dear and lots of hugs. Claudia
I selected to bake my 2-tails. Being my first try, it was a bit confusing. However, I did the best I could, cooked a bit longer and they were scrumptious. Yes, it was easy.
This is exactly what I am having (alone) for Christmas Eve. My daughter is working in Spain and can't make it home so I will drown my sorrow (haha!) in lobster tails. Thank you for the easy instructions and happy holidays! :)

This is a delicious and easy method, thank you. My only issue was separating the shell after cutting it. Three days later, I still have a painful cut on my thumb from the sharp edge of the shell.
Hi mam....easiest way to cook lobster I have ever seen ..sea is very close to my home and we get the lobster almost free of cost. ..love from India. ..will share lobster cooking indian style in our channel very soon.
@@Thestayathomechef the lobster tails came out perfect and it was the first time I ever felt confident enough to cook lobster. I never had better prepared lobster in my life and I really wish that I purchased more tails at the grocery store. Thank you.
@@Thestayathomechef Thanks for the response! I understand what you mean, but on my oven there's a button for bake and broil respectively and a temperature screen and adjustment buttons, then a start and cancel button. Should I just go with the default?
It's probably a hell of a lot cheaper to buy it at the supermarket (or wherever they sell lobster tails) and cook it yourself at home than to eat it at a restaurant.
I have always thought the same, that lobster is just too expensive. Recently I found, at my local Albertsons grocery store, fresh lobster tails for $7.00 each. Yah!
Thank you Rachel. looks yummy easy...... i look forward to nailed......Cheers , greetings from Vancouver Canada. by the way you look almost identical to my Friend Faranak from Iran. ,,,
@@Thestayathomechef 😁 is your background from middle east ? In other news , I cooked my lobster by following your recipe and it turned so yummy .. actually I made lobster tacos and is a BIG YES AND THANK YOU RACHEL...
but u don't pop out the lobster meat during prepping? you keep it in the shell and we gotta dig it out w/ a fork now. I pop them out - yet not completely - and set them onto the shell. I don't like that prep but in the end it's so much easier to eat. mama mia.
Question for you, Rachel, does the meat separate from the shell or does it stick to the shell while you're eating it using the broiling method? I've always boiled the lobster but it's always a pain to cut the shell when it's hot.
If you butterfly the tail (which will separate it from the shell wall in the process), you can avoid that problem. Split it like she shows here, but then carefully insert your finger between the shell and meat, running it along the interior shell wall on both sides. The meat will pull away from the shell wall with a little coaxing. You'll have to work it a bit, but ultimately the tail meat separates from the shell. Once that is done you can either keep it in the shell, or pop it out and broil it on top of the shell. Either will work, but I prefer the latter, as you can drown it in butter and the shell prevents the meat from toughening on the most-exterior parts will the interior is still cooking to temp. Doing this also makes eating it either in or out of shell trivial.
Wow, this is what they charge an arm and a leg for. One quick question, what can you substitute for the butter? That almost gave me heart attack just watching. I know it taste good, but I would prefer something a bit more healthier if you can even do that with this.

Making today with crab cakes, shrimp fettuccini and salad😋😋😋
Sounds great!
My broiler has a high and low setting, which one should I use? I can only find small tails about 3oz should I broil them for 5 mins?
A tip from another video says to broil 1 minute per ounce, so for 3 ounces it would be 3 to 4 minutes
perfect did three last night as directed under 25 mins to table with two sides, delicious. thank you

TY this recipe is so simple!
yes virginia it is
I have an old stove with the broiler on the bottom. Can you recommend any adjustments?
This will not work for lobsters, I would recommend to steam them or simply boil for 3 minutes, ad spices and brush with butter after that

Thanks for posting, can't wait to try. What greens did you garnish with at the end?
I used some parsley.
What’s a broiler? (I’m from the uk so maybe it’s called something else) is it the grill maybe?
Broil is the top heating element that turns on in the oven.
Gigi Mae Just set them next to the radiator heater while drying your cloths. Both will eventually get done.
Thanks a lot

sticks....pull all meat out then replace then broil

Why do you not give the degrees to set the oven at?
These lobster tails are broiled. Broiling is a setting on your oven, not a temperature.

Broil is a setting on your oven that creates a top down heat. It is not a temperature.

U didn’t say at what temperature the oven should be set to.
It should be set to broil, which is not a temperature, but rather a setting on your oven that cooks using a high heat source that comes from above.

the broiler is an open flame at the top of your oven. there isnt a temp setting. usually just a low/ high
