    Shame they held the new design hostage to the currently not so great ARM chips. Kinda crazy that this design is going to live out 3 generations of Macbook designs (Late 2015, 2016-2020 slim models, new 14 inch arm models). They could've put a Zen3 chip in the pro x chassis IMO with some modifications.

    Battery life on this is horrid. I have the I5 one with lte and in best case scenario I could get 6 1/2 hours. This would be with lte off, battery saver on, screen brightness low, and streaming a 720 movie. With battery on suggested setting and doing just basic web surfing I drop 20% every hour, this is also with lte off. Other then battery life this has been a fast machine. With an advertised 15 hour battery life tho it has been a bit disappointing since I am normally of the move not plugged in.

      Did you buy the surface Pro 7 plus or an older model? I own one and I get 10 to 10.5 hours easily if I'm just typing on word, watching RUclips, Netflix and Google plus social media.
      With photo editing and light 1080p video editing I get around 6 hours, if I'm doing little bit more intensive video editing then I get around 5 hours.... Your one must be defective or smth, get it checked out..

      I know it's 5 months, but...yes, I have the keyboard cover and it works for both my Surface Pro 7 and 7 Plus. It's very hard to tell the Pro 7 apart from the Pro 7 Plus.

    Can expect similar increases between The i5 on the pro 7 and i5 on the pro 7+?

    • @JavierSegura
      @JavierSegura 3 года назад +3

      The i5 configuration is fanless... so it should throttle more on graphic extensive loads. Unless you add a fan like he did in the video.
      So I'd say the gains are not so big there.

  • @dr.nigelcool3771

    Thanks for this. I have read on Reddit--don't know if it's true--that the Surface Pros commonly throttle because of the temperature of the skin as opposed to the temperature of the CPU. There is some heat standard that the skin must meet, and there is a skin temperature sensor somewhere near the upper right corner. I've notice my Surface Pro 7+ throttle when the CPU temperature is not so bad--in the 60s.

    liquid cooling a SP4 i7 8 256 do you think the cooling surface that comes in contact with the die is OK? pure copper ?? can it work with liquid metal ? or will it disintegrate like Aluminum on exposure to liquid metal.

      @@iLoGiKZ yes preliminary testing from my friend shows the i3 and i5 last 22-27% longer than the normal SP7, he doesn't have an i7 version he could test on hand, but My i7 version definitely lasts longer than the normal SP7 for my use case.

    Excellent video as always. I really wish they had switched to AMD this time though, with something like a 15 watt 4800u you're getting nearly twice the performance of the new Tiger Lakes. 8 cores/16 threads.

    Great video dude, congrats for the job! I was wondering buying the SP7+ with i7, but I'd like to know how is the fan noise of this machine. Is that really noticeable? Or it'd be better to go for the i5 in order to have a quiet workplace? What are your thought on that point?
    Thanks!

    • @MrWh4327782
      @MrWh4327782 3 года назад

      most time it wouldn't run at all. Very quite laptop or tablet. The suffer time will always been the background windows update, however, you can always limiting your CPU to 99% to avoid the fan noise.

    Such amazing device and so ugly bezels from 2014. What’s wrong with Microsoft?

    • @alex.maxwell
      @alex.maxwell 3 года назад

      @Jack L You obviously don’t follow the news. Google Surface PRO X, iPad Pro, Dell XPS 13, macbook 14” etc. Almost every laptop manufacturer shrinks bezels these days. And holding it has nothing to do with the bezels. False touch should be cured with software, not bezels!

    • @alex.maxwell
      @alex.maxwell 3 года назад

      @Jack L Well, this is not an issue for iPad Pro because of great software optimization. And the reason why they don’t shrink the bezels is because they opted to do it on Surface PRO X to make it look more stylish - you are right at this point.

      @@alex.maxwell You obviously are too poor to own such devices that’s why you resort to reading about them, not knowing how it actually feels to hold and use them in a real life, real world settings and application. You tried!
