😂 I think it's been said before, but except for the fifty, this armor is the only armor that automatically returns fire when struck. You guys "hammered" the puns, too.

I was surprised the 7.62x54r was stopped, I've been amazed at how well it penetrates everything I've shot at....
You really need to do a control with one that is just straight epoxy in the tombstone so you can actually see how much the nails or different things actually affect it
Seeing the comments I guess next will beva pure epoxy and my idear of epoxy sand mix.

I'm not sure if it's been done or not, but it would be cool to see one of these epoxy armour plates you're making with just a epoxy and shoot that for a control test to see how it stacked up compared to the others you made.
It’s only about 115 degrees here in San Tan Valley, Arizona. Those not used to the heat will feel like their breathing in fire the first time they experience it.

@@GoingBallistic Some days it gets as high as 118 degrees, but it’s very rare to get any higher than that. I went golfing on a day that hot and during the 18 holes I played I drank like 2 1/2 gallons of water in about four hours because it was so hot, but I got sick because my body retained all of the water without letting me go to the bathroom. It wasn’t until I got in the A/C and cooled down that I started going number 1 and I literally had my bladder filled to bursting like every 5-10 minutes for like 2 hours before I got it all out.
Awesome shooting as always Justin, and it was a record for this time of the year today in Oklahoma at 107°F and felt closer to 110°F because of the humidity, we have had a couple of 110°F days though in the mid summer times!!!🔥🔥
There's a cartridge collector somewhere thinking nooooo! when Justin let off that near antique .50 cal round. BTW it's 30°C or 86°F here in Thailand but it's 0040hrs in the morning, although if you take into account the humidity, it's about a zillion degrees in the units of your choice. Great stuff guys. 👍
There's a lot of WWII ammo in a lot of calibers still being shot. Don't worry, we'll save some for the cartridge collectors.
@@timewave02012 Is it reliable? Some of the vintage .45 ACP my son was issued with over here in the Thai army was pretty dubious stuff. May have been poorly stored though.
@@user-db5qd3wd6z You're right that it depends on storage. Just after WWII, but I shot a bunch of 1946 Soviet 7.62x54R that was in great condition. I've also had good luck with WWII German 8mm, compared to newer Czech 8mm that had lots of hangfires. I have some 1945 50 BMG, too, but it's plain ball, and I haven't shot any because it's corrosive.

The nice thing with roofing nails is that they are soft, so in a thick layer they absorb a lot of energy.
i dont see a lot of modified rifle/pistol rounds on youtube. i have a load of old tungsten pcb drill bits and always wondered what it would be like to drill a bullet tip and put one of these in it.

If you put a softener in the epoxy to make it a little bit flexible it can take much more impact.. Its what they use in layers bullet proof glass.

it's cooled off a bit here in Summerville SC since we got some rain Friday, but the whole week previously was upper 90s (37C) with 80% humidity. getting off work at 4pm the cars thermometer would frequently read low 110s (45C) from sitting in the parking lot all day.

try using concrete/cut nails. they are hardened to use in concrete with a hammer. it's also 80° at 2:30 am with 56% hellmidity.

Weather in Spokane Washington is terrible. There is Ash falling from the sky like snow. Because all the towns around us are burning. Medical lake Washington was wiped off the map. Elk Washington is getting to that point. Over 400 homes and businesses burnt, 25,000 acres gone. 0% containment. And they're only allowing commissioned firefighters to fight the fires. All the volunteer wildland firefighters, are being turned away. Some shit is going on in this country. Way too many people losing everything and people who can help being turned away.

@@GoingBallistic I'm trying. My job site is about 5 mi from the main fire in elk so it's pretty smoky. But so far the fire hasn't headed that way. And I live in town, and we have enough fire departments to probably keep the fire from getting past the outskirts of the city

Should have made the back plate with AR500....or even 1" of nails/epoxy with AR500 backing and repeat that a couple times for the target. I expected the 50cal to explode the whole thing a bit more than it did. Here in South Australia it is 18°C (64°F).
