Would it be antithetical to this explanation of the gospel to say that the gospel is the good news about what the creator has done, what he is doing now and what he has promised to do but has not yet done?

What sins must I repent of, some or all of them? How long should I repent of them? Can I honestly say that I have repented (turned) from sin if I still commit sin? If I must be willing to turn from sin (even tho the bible doesn't say be "willing" to repent), how "willing" must I be?

You will never be able to repent enough. That is why you have to put your trust in Jesus and not in your repenting. I know the struggle too

I believe your answer can be found at The Cross at Calvary!! The thief next to Jesus was saved bc he repented & believed. What did he say? What was his attitude? How sincere & how detailed was his confession before God (son of God = God) & men? Less obvious was his willingness to die to his flesh which Paul called "this body of death." He literally picked up his cross & followed Christ. He died a martyr's death but his soul was promised eternal life in Heaven. The way I see repentance is that we go to The Cross & Plead Guilty in Humility & Faith before Father, Son & Holy Spirit whenever necessary for our sins, trusting we will be forgiven. But it only works if you're willing to crucify your flesh. Which results in eternal life. That's a true paradox. All spiritual truths are. Like by SURRENDERING to the enemy, Jesus WON the eternal war against Satan... with His Blood, the God Gene Particle (aka Seed of the Woman), the greatest bioweapon of all time. And quantum fusion. Jesus was way ahead of His time. To this day, we still don't quite understand how His Blood gives us eternal life. But if we follow God's simple instructions, even a child can be saved, by His Grace & our Faith & the Blood of Jesus Christ, our Lord & Savior. Amen.

There are two forms of repentance.
One of which MUST occur before or alongside initial saving faith. The Greek is _'homologeo'_ and means "to be like-worded' ... with God specifically.
This means that the Holy Spirit convicts us and then we agree with God.
If this never happens then genuine salvation is not possible.
Without this, one's decision for Christ is simply an act of the intellect or the 'will', ie, _"it's a good idea"_
John wrote that salvation is 'not by the will of the flesh'.
The other form of repentance is _'metanoeo'._ This Greek word means _"with change"._ It is a by-product of the first occurrence of _'homologeo'._
We do not change _(metanoeo)_ until we agree _(homologeo)_ with God that we need to change.
There is no condition of how much or how perfect a person must change _(metanoeo)_ to be saved.
However, there can be NO salvation UNLESS a person agrees _(homologeo)_ with God that he is a sinner and that he needs saving.
So... yes, repentance is necessary for salvation.
How do we know this? The thief on the cross.
In him we see repentance of _'homologeo'_.
Previously he, along with the other, mocked Jesus -- but then he agrees that they deserve what they are receiving, and Jesus didn't. He has agreed with God.
Furthermore, he stopped mocking Jesus, a form of _'metanoeo'_
If we claim that there is salvation without repentance then we make Jesus a liar -- for he has said, "Unless you repent, you will perish."

The content of the gospel, the essence of hte gospel, is God’s saving activity in Jesus as Lord - in his sinless life, his atoning death on behalf of sinners, his resurrection. This is the gospel.

When your hands are screen right -great! When you move your hands left screen- from "indicative" to "imperative" we se that the gospel as life dynamic is unknown or not believed-That movement is very damaging -for when the indicative is revealed the imperative it generates is the choice-less love -the left screen exposition renders all > academic faith. The inner "imperative" of the gospel is not grammar, regulation, guideline - but every preacher does this -so you have lots of company. TY.

Mixed teaching. The Gospel in essence is rather simple. Short version:
God created mankind, perfect and without sin. Man was deceived and got separated from God and lived in sin eversince the eating of the fruit. The law came but man was not able to keep the complete law. Jesus Christ, Gods only begotten Son, the Lamb for atonement, paid for all sin of the whole world. Whosoever believes in Him will be free from sin in the Fathers sight and is redeemed. Holy again, dead to sin. And can live with God in eternity. The blood of Jesus is the ultimate offering to the Father for all people who will believe Jesus Christ and follow Him. It is finished. We can do nothing to add to the payment of Jesus Christ. Just believe and act accordingly. Don't be a hypocrite. We can't fool God.

The gospel is not about us, its about what God did IN Christ for our justification. We were not involved in any way, shape or form, with what God did in Christ for our justification. However, the fruit of believing the gospel are the applications or consequences. This is Sanctification. Justification and Sanctification are separate aspects. We must not confuse justification with santification or vice versa.

"We have a responsibility toward justice."
"We have a responsibility to the environment."
"We have a responsibility towards racial reconciliation"
Really? That is not in the bible. What we have a responsibility to do as believers is to share the gospel with everyone God puts in our path. That's it.
There is no law against those things you've said, for sure. But those are humanistic goals, not godly ones.
In particular, the environmental movement is very hostile to the very idea of the existence of God.
Your presentation of the gospel is close, though it should have been expanded and leave out the humanistic twist.

How dare you. These things are certainly Godly and the Church's responsibility. These are fruits of the Gospel among the people of God. We are not called to be conservative. We are not called to be liberal. We are called to follow Jesus and this entails BEING the Church, preaching the Gospel not only in word, but also with action towards caring fr our dear Savior and His entire creation.

      "How dare you" LOLOLOL!!!
How dare I? Again. I'm merely pointing out the truth that none of that humanistic junk that you state are even hinted at in the bible.
Christ commanded us explicitly to go forth and make disciples of all nations, that is to share the gospel to the ends of the Earth.
He explicitly rebuked Peter when he tried to defend Jesus who was unjustly arrested. He repeatedly asserted that his kingdom was not of this world.
You do not know the bible at all.
And to put it in liberal-conservative terms shows how little you know and how involved in this world system of things you are.
Learn the gospel. Share it. Stop promoting humanism. How dare you!
Oh and please share the scriptures that back up your false claims.

Jacob Becomes Israel You might have a point regarding the gospel, if you ignore other scripture-- while I disagree with you, I'll grant that your statement is true without an abstract reading of certain passages, IF you are talking about the gospel. The problem is you claim there is nothing in scripture itself regarding the environment.
I take it you are open to explicit scriptural instruction since you ask for references. Take Gen. 1:28-30. What does God give to man's representative?
      -Every plant which yields seed
-Dominion over every animal that eats green plants (depending on your view of Genesis, you might also add every meat-eating animal as well, though some say that is only inferred after Gen. 3).
Using this reference, I assume an understanding that it is consistent with the gospel to assume God wants us to be responsible. If you disagree with this assessment, I challenge you to use scripture to support a contrary view.
If we do not care for seed-yielding plants, we abuse the gift God has given us. I think this is sin. But wait, there's more! Consider this if you do not think it is sinful to abuse our gifts: God mandated that we exercise dominion over plant-eating animals. In other words, we are to care for them; we are to be their masters, but not abuse them and we are to be responsible in how we care for them and use them. Given this mandate, it is a sin to not care for them responsibly. If a cow needs grass to survive, and you eliminate the grass (i.e., not care for the environment), you are not caring for that cow responsibly, ergo it is a sin to neglect the environment.
BUT (and this is where the afore-mentioned "liberal" Christians often stop for some reason), holding dominion DOES include the notion of rule. Responsible dominion does not mean elevating the environment as an idol as many in the "green" movement like to do.
So for practical application… I don't go around recklessly killing things. If I ever went hunting, I would eat the meat, and if possible even try to find a way for the pelt to be used. I don't go burning fields just for the heck of it. I don't take animals and skin them alive because it is interesting, because they are part of God's creation, and he has charged me with exercising dominion, and those things are in direct violation of that commandment. I don't protest logging in Brazil, but I do my part and look for the recycle logo on my plastic, and we use cloth diapers when practical and at home, with my motivation being solely in honoring Christ.
I will grant you that, theologically, you could make the case that care for the environment is an incorrect use of scripture (you might think that the Fall absolved mankind of its pre-Fall commandments, or that Adam only stood as our representative when convenient for the gospel story), however at least just consider one thing:
You claim that a belief that care for God's creation being scriptural automatically equates to humanism. Consider the possibility that to be humanistic, that belief would be modified to elevating care for God's creation above the gospel, and above ourselves, the holders of dominion over creation.
In my case, I am far from an environmental nut (I used to reduce to recycle on principle), but after studying scripture, I believe I was in error and minimally modified my lifestyle. Even though you claim this position is of a humanist nature, my care for the environment, while small enough that traditional environmentalists would still despise me, is the extreme opposite of humanist, but instead is grounded in scripture.

This brother makes some good affirmations in this short video. I am disappointed in the NeoCalvinistic language employed in statements like "The gospel is... what God has accomplished... to secure the forgiveness of sins of all those who will repent and believe in Jesus as Lord and Savior." This is the language of Well-Meant-Offerism. Repentance and faith are provisions of the atonement, not conditions of the atonement. All the conditions were met in Christ.

Luke 2.10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; Luke 2.11 for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” (Luke 2.9-11 NAS95)

The good news - for us - is that we may receive eternal life, rather than perish (John 3:16). Jesus made that possible. The details:
We are all sinners in need of God's mercy and grace. The question of the day is:
*"Who gets God's mercy and grace?"*
Answer: It's those who obey and come to Him in repentance: seeking God with a heart and mind committed to confessing and forsaking sin:
⚫ "And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent" (Acts 17:30)
⚫ "He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy." (Proverbs 28:13)
⚫ "Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him . . . " (Isaiah 55:7)
If we'll obey and come to Him in repentance, our past sins will be mercifully blotted out:
⚫ "Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord" (Peter, in Acts 3:19, NKJV).
Did you catch that? Our sins were neither blotted out nor paid for the moment Jesus died on the cross. Our sins remain-and we'll pay for them ourselves-unless we come to repentance. That's why Jesus warned:
⚫ "except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish." (Jesus, in Luke 13:5)
Peter makes it clear: come to repentance, or else perish:
⚫ "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." (2 Peter 3:9)
Jesus died for our sins, as stated in 1 Corinthians 15:3. With His death He made a ransom payment available; He made His death, His blood, *available* to cover the death penalty we've earned (Romans 6:23) for sin. We can have that mercy, that coverage, that redemption-as promised-IF we'll come to Him in repentance.
That's why Jesus instructed His disciples to preach "repentance and remission of sins." Not "faith alone." Not "faith + nothing = salvation." Not "just trust Jesus did it all for you":
⚫ "Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,
And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
And that *repentance and remission of sins* should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem." (Luke 24:45-47)
What did John the Baptist preach? Come to repentance . . . receive mercy: remission of sins:
⚫ "John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins." (Mark 1:4; Luke 3:3)
How did Ninevah receive mercy? They "turned from their evil way":
⚫ "And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not." (Jonah 3:10)
Here's what Jesus had to say about Nineveh:
⚫ "The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here." (Jesus, in Matthew 12:41)
    ▬▬▬▬▬
Acts 3:19 is a beautiful verse. Let's look at it again because there's more to unwrap:
⚫ "Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord" (Peter, in Acts 3:19, NKJV).
Our sins separate us from God (Isaiah 59:1,2). But those past sins will be blotted out if we'll come to repentance. Then-with those sins blotted out, and redeemed by His blood from the death penalty we had earned-we enter *justification:* no longer separated from God. We enter "the presence of the Lord." And how are we in "the presence of the Lord"? Through the gift of the holy spirit which (connecting the dots) is given "to them that obey him" and "repent":
⚫ "And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him." (Acts 5:32)
⚫ "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." (Acts 2:38)
Why receive the holy spirit? "So that times of refreshing may come" . . . so that we can begin a new life, led by the holy spirit . . . because we have chosen repentance.
Through the holy spirit Jesus leads us to overcome slavery to sin, and into love for God and neighbor:
⚫ "As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent." (Jesus, in Revelation 3:19)
⚫ "He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son." (Revelation 21:7)
Jesus is at work today: He is the potter, we are the clay. This is how we're made ready to receive the gift of eternal life as the Father's sons and daughters, and to inherit the Kingdom of God. An ongoing relationship with Him
⚫ " . . . yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby" (Hebrews 12:11)
As we abide in Him in repentance, walking "after the spirit" we remain in justification, not under condemnation:
⚫ "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." (Romans 8:1)
*Having* the holy spirit is essential, but *ineffective* unless we remain in repentance, willing to be *led* by the holy spirit! We must follow:
⚫ "For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God." (Romans 8:13,14)
As we remain in repentance, abiding in Him, we remain in justification and in His grace and mercy; His blood continues (present tense) to cover any new sins we commit:
⚫ "But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin." (1 John 1:7)
Again, as in Acts 3:19, we see that our sins were not blotted out/paid for/washed away the moment Jesus died on the cross. This is important: millions have been misled to think "all sins, past, present and future" have already been "paid for" . . . therefore, they conclude, sin is no longer a salvation issue. So repentance-changing our mind about continuing in sin-gets redefined into "change your mind and just trust Jesus did it all for you on the cross." This "faith alone" is a sly, underhanded way of saying neither obedience nor turning from sin are required . . . great news for itching ears.
Salvation is by grace, *through* faith (Ephesians 2:8) . . . not just because we *have* faith. *Through* faith we can "see" that we have a choice to make: to either "come to God" on His terms, or else remain in our old lives apart from God. Without faith we could not make the choice to "come to God":
⚫ "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." (Hebrews 11:6)
It is the choice-to "come to God" on His terms-that matters . . . and for which we receive mercy and grace. James points out that Abraham was justified-and deemed a believer-"not by faith only" (James 2:24). True believers are those who-like Abraham-act on their faith and obey God. Faith is given to us to call us (Ephesians 2:8). Question is, will we answer the call?
While we are in justification, we are "in His goodness" or grace and we have "the hope of salvation": the promised receipt of eternal life at Jesus' "revelation," His return:
⚫ "And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life" (1 John 2:25).
⚫ "But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ" (Paul, in 1 Thessalonians 5:8,9; also Acts 15:11, Romans 5:9).
⚫ "Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;" (1 Peter 1:13)
Most professing Christians do not understand that in this mortal life we may enter justification with God, but we are not yet saved, and will not be saved until later. Short of receiving eternal life at Jesus' return, we will perish, losing everything, very much unsaved. Here's Paul: justification and salvation are different things, at different times:
⚫ "Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him." (Paul, in Romans 5:9)
What happens if we are no longer abiding in Him, no longer walking "after the spirit"? We return to condemnation, no longer in justification, no longer "in His goodness" or grace. Ultimately, we will forfeit our "hope of salvation"; we will be "cut off":
⚫ "If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned." (Jesus, in John 15:6)
⚫ "For if God spared not the natural branches [the Israelites], take heed lest he also spare not thee.
Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off." (Romans 11:21,22)
⚫ "Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it." (Hebrews 4:1)

@@TheBibleSays Paul for sure did not believe he could stop believing. He said this: "Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform [it] until the day of Jesus Christ: (Philippians 1:6, KJV)". What did he mean by this by your intepretation?

A very vague view on the gospel-Where is the BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST? THE BLOOD BY WHICH WE ARE SAVED
THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 KJV IS A BLOOD STAINED GOSPEL
THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST IS CRITICAL TO OUR SALVATION
WHEN WE PREACH THE GOSPEL, WE ARE TO MENTION THE BLOOD OF CHRIST AT ALL TIMES
Matthew 26:28-For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
    CHRIST'S SHEDDING OF BLOOD
    Hebrews 9:12 KJV
    Hebrews 9:22 KJV
    Ephesians 1:7 KJV
    Colossians 1:14 KJV
    Hebrews 13:12 KJV
    1 Peter 1:18 KJV
    1 Peter 1:19 KJV
    Luke 22:20 KJV
    Acts 20:28 KJV
    Romans 3:25 KJV
    Romans 5:9 KJV
    Ephesians 2:13 KJV
    Colossians 1:20 KJV
    Revelation 1:5 KJV
    Revelation 7:14 KJV
    Hebrews 10:29 KJV
The gospel is NOT a BLOODLESS GOSPEL
NO MATTER HOW LONG OR SHORT A VIDEO IS ON THE GOSPEL-THE MENTION OF THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST IS CRITICAL

This man, Piper, and a ton of others, have yet to even, just quote scripture, as to what the gospel is.
Repent, for the kingdom of God is at hand, (coming). THAT'S IT.
And when it is finally preached, he will return.
    Matthew 24:14
God, please, give us religious leaders, who quit dancing around, and preach the gospel of Christ, instead of the multiple, gospels about Christ.

They cannot give a clear presentation of the gospel because they're not comfortable just believing to be saved. Everything that they add to just simply believing; changed life, turning or repenting of sins, obedience, etc..is what they're really trusting in.

THE GOSPEL (GOOD NEWS) IS NOT ABOUT GETTING SAVED...FROM GOD!
What is the Gospel or Good News? For many of today's Neo Evangelicals, it seems like it usually starts off as something like a way to make your current life happier! We're seeing more and more "bible-based" churches change their names to titles that imply a sort of family connectedness--"The Bridge," or "Love Community" or plain old "Connect"!
If you visit these churches, long gone are the old-fashioned pulpits with maybe a choir seated behind, that are now replaced by a big stage, big screens, light shows, and an entire band...in other words, they've become a place of entertainment!
Next come the greeters--people who will be sure to make you feel welcome, try to get your personal information, invite you to other activities which carry the promise of a new, extended family!
This still relatively new approach to getting people to join a church has been very effective! In an age where people feel very lonely and disconnected, but at the same time, got really sick and tired of being cooped up for two years watching every single movie and show Netflix had to offer, some live entertainment, especially when led by an attractive pastor/wife couple, is very appealing and many join up!
What, then, happens after joining? Well, unlike what churches used to do many decades ago--made sure you understood what the church believed BEFORE you joined, now they only start in with the indoctrination afterwards!
While many, if not most, people who join any one of the many modern Neo Evangelical churches (and to be clear, they NEVER call themselves "Neo Evangelicals," but usually, if asked, will vacillate and say things like, "Oh, we're just Christians.") come in for the all the "love" they feel, it's not long before the HATE is instilled!
Soon, the new church member is exposed to white nationalism, the "biblical basis" for unfettered Capitalism, conspiracies galore about Satan having taken over the governments of the world (as long as they're not run by the American Republican Party, or an equivalent in other nations) and of course, the God-given right, if not the requirement, to be lethally armed!
In short order, the Neo Evangelical church member is glued to right wing TV news, like Fox News, Newsmax and OAN. They're inundated with a constant stream of messaging that fuels fear and hate. Anyone who does not agree with what is presented as the "Christian position" on abortion, policing, health care, vaccinations, LGBTQ+ rights, how history is taught in public schools, and so on, are no longer just other fellow Americans who have different opinions on issues, but are "the enemies of Christ"! And since they are God's enemies, of course, he plans to let them experience his full wrath by burning them alive, for eternity, in the next life!
So, is this what Jesus of Nazareth really had in mind, when he proclaimed HIS Good News? Was the "salvation" Jesus of Nazareth believed in, getting saved FROM GOD? No! Absolutely not!
By great contrast, the Good News of Jesus was that no person was beyond the grace and forgiveness of God, and that no matter what one has done before to hurt other other people, all are still unconditionally loved and forgiven their sins and can, upon realizing this and just how foolish it is to try to find peace and happiness by trampling on others, is a delusion! That real peace and happiness comes only from leading a life of doing good, helping others to the best of one's ability, to be relieved of their suffering.
Unlike most of the Jews of Jesus' day (including his own disciples) who were looking for an EARTHLY Kingdom of God to solve the problems of the world, and unlike many of today's Neo Evangelicals who look forward to entering a HEAVENLY Kingdom of God, minus all of "God's enemies"...Jesus taught us to love everyone, even OUR enemies! In other words, Jesus taught that God has no enemies, and that the REAL Kingdom of God resides inside the hearts and minds of PEOPLE, and expands on a one-by-one basis, each time a person realizes the love and forgiveness of God and, in direct response, begins showing that love to all others!

Saying we have responsibility it's like saying "you must do" but we are justify only by Christ.Christ is "our responsibility" being our Justification,He predestined us for good works IN HIM(by Him) We are conduct by Christ Spirit,we are build to Christ image,it's all the work of Christ in us.

The gospel does have consequences. For example, we have a responsibility to pursue justice, according to the biblical terms in which it is set forth. We have a responsibility toward the environment, toward creation. We have a responsibility toward racial reconciliation. We have a responsibility to pursue the welfare of the unborn. But these things are not the gospel. They are the consequences of the gospel. They are responsibilities that fall upon us as Christians because of what God has done.
