Pastor Begg, we recently got a née pastor at our church that just did a series on the Gospel. He described first what the Gospel isn’t: 1: Evangelical Gospel 2. Social Gospel 3. Political Gospel. He said those all have elements of the Gospel but are incomplete. Then he described the Gospel as accepting Christ WITH the essential component of being a disciple. Wanted to get your thoughts...
The Good News is about a love so beautiful that gave us a Savior to save us from eternal punishment and give us eternal life through His Son Jesus, who delivers us from from sin by taken our sins upon Himself so that we could be forgiven and transformed from into a person free to love like He loved us.
For people who don’t even pretend to have faith in Jesus, it could be argued that the most important message of the whole Bible is that, because of the sacrifice of Jesus, our heavenly Father can be both entirely just and entirely merciful in granting forgiveness of sins to people who don’t deserve it and can never do enough good things to earn his forgiveness. Because that message is what most people most need, I don’t even object to people who emphasize that more than or instead of all of the other aspects of good news in the Bible. I do object, however, to the idea that any other Bible doctrines are merely peripheral to the gospel...not actually part of the gospel. I’ve met people with a variety of ideas about what John Wesley called “the second blessing” (sanctification) but, if I understand correctly why he called it that, I think it deserves to be considered part of “the gospel”. Matthew 4:23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people. Matthew 9:35 And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. Matthew 14:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. Mark 1:14 King James Version 14 Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, Is it possible that the phrase, “gospel of the kingdom”, is a reference to the good news about the nature of the kingdom and the nature of the king? By the time Jesus had finished his sermon on the mount of blessing, it was clear that he was promoting a kind of kingdom very different from the political kingdom most of the formally educated rabbis wanted and expected. His advocacy for that very different kind of kingdom was perceived as undermining their authority among the common people. His message could not be tolerated! In the twenty-first century many Hebrews and most Muslims are wanting and expecting a political messiah. The majority of professed Christians do too so they have adopted the doctrine that, yes, the kingdom of grace was and is a different kind of kingdom but, when he returns, Jesus will be the kind of political king they want and expect. There are several reasons to challenge that doctrine. Acts 1:11 ...Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven. (Emphasis mine.) If it were possible for Jesus to be a political king, he could have exhibited his divine power before he died. In a blinding flash, he could have destroyed the soldiers who were crucifying him and then led an army (invincible because he could both miraculously feed his soldiers and heal them if they were injured) to, at the very least, stop the Romans from taxing the Hebrews in Judea or, more probably, exact tribute from the very Romans who had been taxing the Hebrews. If you read Jesus’ sermon on the mount more carefully (contemplatively), I suggest you may realize that the principles he enunciated are eternal principles that are not only principles of the kingdom of grace but that will also be the basis of his kingdom of glory. Because the very nature of Jesus is love (disinterested benevolence), he can never be the kind of king most people want and expect. When he returns, it won’t be to implement the political agenda of either the conservatives or the progressives. His is and always will be an entirely different kind of kingdom. Jesus warned about false messiahs. If someone appears on this planet for the purpose of getting humans to worship him, multitudes of people who are looking for a political messiah will be deceived. The deception will be especially powerful if the false messiah has or appears to have supernatural powers. Is it reasonable to think of this message about the nature of the kingdom and the nature of the king as part of “the gospel”, i.e. “the gospel of the kingdom”? Think about how this message about the nature of the kingdom and the nature of the king has the potential to benefit society even before a supernatural false messiah or the real Jesus appears. It would have obviated the burning of heretics by the medieval “Church”. It would have obviated the punishment of baptists and quakers by the puritans. And it would provide the basis for people at both ends of the political spectrum from thinking they are doing God’s will when they try to impose their political idealism on everyone else. (See John 16:2.)
Thank you👍 The gospel → Christ died for our sins. He was buried. He was raised on the third day. He appeared to the apostles. 1 Corinthians 15:1-5 Isaiah 53 Anyone is saved just by believing in the gospel. Romans 1:16 Ephesians 2:8-9
Repentance towards God . Repentance is a change of mind (agreeing with God). turning from sins in order to be saved is a lie from Satan. Turning from sins is works for salvation. Only believe what the LORD JESUS did for you on the cross. All was paid for at the cross bu his shed blood. Trust in him alone by faith.
Seems to be a wordy explanation of reformation not regeneration. It is about the new life received from God through His Son, not improving the old carnal man. The gospel of salvation...literally being "born again".
The gospel is what the scriptures say it is. Its not something where we determine based on what is important to us or our doctrines. It is worked out by actually looking at how the scriptures use the term and checking that against the way Jesus and the apostles present it. Again as captured in scripture. A further check would be to know the history of how Christians have understood the gospel from NT times, the early church and throughout history. If you know your history of how the early church understood the gospel, you would see the distortions in this version.
The Gospel of Grace The Gospel for EVERYBODY TODAY 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 KJV 15 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: Galatians 1:11-12 11 But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. 12 For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ. Saved by the Blood of Jesus Christ Romans 3:23-25 KJV 23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; We’re Not Under the Law Galatians 3:23-25 KJV 23 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. 24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. Ephesians 1:13-14 KJV 13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, 14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory. Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. Titus 3:5 KJV 5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; 6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; 7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. When you believe in you heart on the Blood of Jesus Christ (The Finished Works) you are saved brothers and sisters for all of eternity (Eternal Security is Yours) Romans 8:38-39 KJV 38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Nothing can ever take you away from our Lord when you believe in your heart. NOTHING NOT YOUR FUTURE PRIDE NOT YOUR PRESENT LUST NOT YOUR FUTURE LUST NOTHING MEANS NOTHING Thank you Jesus Christ for this promise you gave me and all who believe, I’m so blessed Lord. I pray this helps You or Someone Else get a little closer to Jesus and get clarity on what it takes to be Saved by Faith in the finished works of Christ I’m looking forward to the rapture:)))))))
The Gospel is given to Paul by God. Paul writes: 1 Corinthians 15:1-8: 1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also you have received, and in which you stand; 2 By which also you are saved, if you keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless you have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: 5 And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: 6 After that, he was seen of over five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain until now, but some are fallen asleep. 7 After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. 8 And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one untimely born. In short: 1. Christ died. 2. Christ was buried. 3. Christ was risen. 4. Christ was seen. Our task is to build up a relationship to these four points.
Great vid clip...finally a sound sane sensible gospel message...but for this day & age....way to long...I mean 3 minutes in & they,re gone...solid gone...w the action span of a house plant
The gospel is one gospel, not four. The gospel is Jesus Christ in the flesh; crucified and resurrected. It is all the words He spoke and the apostles spoke in His name and by His authority. The gospel in its written form is all the books of the New Testament except for the Book of Revelation which is not part of the gospel. So the written form of the gospel, which is all we have today, consists in all the books from Matthew to Jude. That's it, that's the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ and in it is the power to save all souls who put their faith in it. Please be one of those souls. Because when you put your faith in the gospel you also put your faith in Jesus Christ and His righteousness is then attributed to you by God our Father. There is no other way that works. The only other way is the Law and it doesn't work.
New Covenant Whole Gospel: Let us now share the Old Testament Gospel found below with the whole world. On the road to Emmaus He said the Old Testament is about Him. He is the very Word of God in John 1:1, 14. Awaken Church to this truth. Jer 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: Jer 31:32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by husband unto them, saith the LORD: Jer 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. Jer 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. Is the most important genealogy in the Bible found in Matthew 1:1 (Gal. 3:16)? Is God's Son the ultimate fulfillment of Israel (John 1:49)? Why has the modern Church done a pitiful job of sharing the Gospel with modern Orthodox Jews? Why would someone tell them they are God's chosen people and then fail to share the Gospel with them? Who is the seed of the woman promised in Genesis 3:15? Who is the "son" in Psalm 2? Who is the "suffering servant" of Isaiah 53? Who would fulfill the New Covenant promised in Jeremiah 31:31-34? Who would fulfill the timeline of Daniel chapter 9 before the second temple was destroyed? Why have we not heard this simple Old Testament Gospel preached on Christian television in the United States on a regular basis? Once a person comes to understand the New Covenant promised to Israel and Judah in Jeremiah 31:31-34, which is found fulfilled by Christ during the first century in Hebrews 8:6-13, and Hebrews 10:16-18, and specifically applied to the Church in 2 Corinthians 3:6-8, and Hebrews 12:22-24, man-made Bible doctrines fall apart. Let us now learn to preach the whole Gospel until He comes back. The King of Israel is risen from the dead! (John 1:49, Acts 2:36) We are not come to Mount Sinai in Hebrews 12:18. We are come instead to the New Covenant church of Mount Zion and the blood in Hebrews 12:22-24. 1Jn 3:22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. 1Jn 3:23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. 1Jn 3:24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us. Watch the RUclips videos “The New Covenant” by David Wilkerson, or Bob George, and David H.J. Gay.
HE did come back exactly as HE said In the clouds ~ judgement @ The Last Day! Not 1 stone left on another! 70AD the old covenant rolled up like a scroll ( yet it was written on 2 tablets of stone)! And burned The Temple destroyed all the elements of the old dissolved. Done away with! The New Heavens and earth Jesus Christ The LORD! Adonai!!!

@@P.H.888 Hyper-Preterism Unmasked: Is Matthew 10:23 about 70 AD, or is it about Jesus coming as the King to Israel? The answer is found below in Zech. 9:9. Did Jesus "cometh" as the King of Israel riding on a donkey during the week He was crucified? If Matthew 10:23 is about 70 AD, Peter ignored the commandment given by Jesus in Matthew 10:5-7, when Peter went to the house of Cornelius. It did not take the disciples forty years to take the Gospel to Israel. In Romans 1:16 Paul said the Gospel was taken "first" to the Jews. This time period of the Gospel going "first" to Israel is found in Matt. 10:5-23, and Acts chapter 2, and Acts 10:36-38, and Galatians 1:14-18. Zec 9:9 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass. The Old Covenant age died at Calvary when God ripped the temple veil in half from the top to the bottom at the moment His Son died at Calvary. There is no record in the NT of any person coming to salvation outside of the New Covenant between Calvary and 70 AD. Hebrews 7:12 proves there was a change in the law before 70 AD. We are not come to Mount Sinai in Hebrews 12:18. We are come instead to the New Covenant Church of Mount Zion and the blood of Jesus in Hebrews 12:22-24. This passage was written in the present tense before 70 AD. If the Hyper-Preterists (Full-Preterists) were correct the Old Covenant age would come back into existence if a temple were rebuilt, and animal sacrifices are renewed. Any basic book on Astronomy proves we are not now living in the "eternal" New Heavens and New Earth, because the sun only has a limited amount of nuclear fuel. We now understand the nuclear reaction inside the core of the sun, because of the testing of thermonuclear weapons.
I really love Alistair but I disappointed. I don't understand why the delivering the gospel needs such a multitude of words. I listen to this and I'm still confused about what the gospel is. If I'm an unregenerate pagan how do I sift through this to believe the good news. Why not just say it plainly in as few words as possible? The Gospel: Jesus Christ crucified and risen for the remission of sin. Repent and believe the good news of Jesus Christ. The gospel of Jesus Christ is this: it is the good news that Jesus Christ was crucified for the sins of the world and he has overcome death by his resurrection from the dead. Now all men and the whole of creation may be reconciled to one another and the Father by the blood of Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit. Repent, change your mind concerning your sin and believe the good news of Jesus Christ and so be saved. 1 Corinthians 15:3 Paul was so explicit, why can't we be?
You explained the Good News. But everything you explained are only peripherals, not truly the Good News. Jesus preached Good News - i.e. good news about the Kingdom of God that has come. If you truly understand his Good News, you'll be teaching quite differently.
John 3:16 is quoted by everyone, " For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." But I've found few who quote the next two verses 17&18, "For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son." Why is not used to show we all have a choice, believe or not believe and the consequence of not believing.
Mark ch1 vs14 Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God. vs15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel. The gospel has nothing to do with Christ dying. Christ gave you the gospel whilst he was alive. Ignoring this and instead worshipping the torture and death of a man is just weird and twisted. Christ told you in his own words what the gospel is: he's telling you the kingdom of God is right here now, available to you, so stop being such a fool and get with it. That is the gospel. The incredible message of this amazing man being twisted into some sort of weird torture suffering cult is super weird.
Paul’s version of the Gospel is a PART of the gospel...Was Messiah/Christ and His apostles going to all the towns preaching about His death?!? The Coming Kingdom of Yah in NEAR!!! The Messiah brought glad tidings of the kingdom of Eloah Saying: “The Kingdom of Almighty is at hand !! Repent and believe in the Gospel” - Mark 1:15 “ I came to call sinners to repentance“ - Matt. 9:13 “ ...bear fruit worthy of repentance” - Matt.3:8 Repent or you too shall perish!! - Luke 13:3 The Return of the Messiah is at hand!! “He who has ears to hear, let him hear” - Matthew 13:9
How dare you say Paul was preaching part of the gospel. Paul didn’t preach only about Christ’s death, but he recognised (from the divine teaching of Jesus Himself) that Christ’s death is the key to justification. Paul was simply blessed and called to preach the fullness of the Gospel, having the fuller picture from what the disciples had at first in their early ministry.
Nice sentiment here but we don't get to make up our own gospel when Jesus has one for us already. He revealed it to the Apostle Paul. And here it is...............notice what is and isn't included. No water baptism-no tithing-no speaking in tongues. 1Co 15:1 Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, 1Co 15:2 and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you-unless you believed in vain. 1Co 15:3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 1Co 15:4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, Believe it totally and have eternal life with Christ...........
Those things weren't even addressed in what the preacher said....they are not required...the thief wasn't baptized but would be in paradise with Jesus. It's not about legalism...when you receive, love and respect God, you are led by the Spirit to do those things. Paul knew his audience. Blessings!
That message never gets old but my rebellious heart still needs to hear it.
Alistair is such a gifted teacher of the gospel and has blessed my life by helping the Word sink into my heart with clarity. Bless you, Pastor Begg.

The content is so very good and so well presented. But the ruddy muzak!! Why ?
Mark 1:14 King James Version 14 Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,
Is it possible that the phrase, “gospel of the kingdom”, is a reference to the good news about the nature of the kingdom and the nature of the king?
(Emphasis mine.)
If it were possible for Jesus to be a political king, he could have exhibited his divine power before he died.
Is repentance part of the gospel and salvation?
Change of mind yes from unbelief to Belief!

When we come to Christ, and repent for our sins to be saved... Why do we still sin. How do we stop sinning?
Repentance towards God . Repentance is a change of mind (agreeing with God). turning from sins in order to be saved is a lie from Satan. Turning from sins is works for salvation. Only believe what the LORD JESUS did for you on the cross. All was paid for at the cross bu his shed blood. Trust in him alone by faith.
Where was this filmed?

Something is blocking me from coming to Jesus
The Gospel is given to Paul by God.
Paul writes:
1 Corinthians 15:1-8:
1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also you have received, and in which you stand;
2 By which also you are saved, if you keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless you have believed in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
5 And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve:
6 After that, he was seen of over five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain until now, but some are fallen asleep.
7 After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles.
8 And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one untimely born.
In short:
New Covenant Whole Gospel:
Let us now share the Old Testament Gospel found below with the whole world. On the road to Emmaus He said the Old Testament is about Him.
He is the very Word of God in John 1:1, 14. Awaken Church to this truth.
Jer 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
Jer 31:32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by
husband unto them, saith the LORD:
Jer 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
(John 1:49, Acts 2:36)
We are not come to Mount Sinai in Hebrews 12:18.

Hyper-Preterism Unmasked:
Is Matthew 10:23 about 70 AD, or is it about Jesus coming as the King to Israel?
1 Corinthians 15:3
Paul was so explicit, why can't we be?
Amen and Amen. Romans 10:9, 1 Peter 1:18-20
Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son."
Why is not used to show we all have a choice, believe or not believe and the consequence of not believing.

@Willow Pattersons why are you laughing so hard🤔
Paul’s version of the Gospel is a PART of the gospel...Was Messiah/Christ and His apostles going to all the towns preaching about His death?!?
The Coming Kingdom of Yah in NEAR!!!
The Messiah brought glad tidings of the kingdom of Eloah
Saying:
“The Kingdom of Almighty is at hand !!
Repent and believe in the Gospel” - Mark 1:15
“ I came to call sinners to repentance“ - Matt. 9:13
“ ...bear fruit worthy of repentance” - Matt.3:8
Repent or you too shall perish!! - Luke 13:3
The Return of the Messiah is at hand!!
1Co 15:1 Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand,
1Co 15:2 and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you-unless you believed in vain.
1Co 15:3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures,
1Co 15:4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures,
Believe it totally and have eternal life with Christ...........
Those things weren't even addressed in what the preacher said....they are not required...the thief wasn't baptized but would be in paradise with Jesus. It's not about legalism...when you receive, love and respect God, you are led by the Spirit to do those things. Paul knew his audience. Blessings!
AMEN BROTHER!!!
