    321 for me.. much classier because it doesn't scream. 321 speaks class. Daytona screams for attention...the 321 is a connoisseur's watch.🎉

    You did the right thing and bought both. I have the 321 and one day will own the Daytona too. Both are legends in their own right.

    I would choose the Speedmaster for about the same reason as you mentioned.

    Just got my 321. I’m liking it even more than I thought I would, mostly because of the finish on the movement, readability of the dial, and the retro-subtlety of the look.

    Had to make this choice few weeks ago and I went for the 321, as a collector and watchmaker passionate.

    Screw down pusher is a negative. To Have to unscrew them every time you use them, is a pain. You have to take the watch off if you are a southpaw. Definitely a minus.
    I actually owned the Daytona, and agree with the review. The Ed White is much more limited, as a very limited number are produced yearly. The Daytona is mass produced, but hoarded by investors. Not for the true beauty and love of the watch, but for the money that they can get from it.
    The Ed White is a true connoisseur's watch. As you stated. It's something that if someone comes up to you and starts to talk to you about it, you know you have a kindred spirit.
    The Rolex, is just known for its name. Definitely a great review.

    Hello ! On 14/11/1966, I bought my Omega Speedy .321 with the NASA-requested assymetrical case. It was the first one sold in Finland & I have the original receipt which mentions the date but NOT the time. I bought it @ 14.30 when the American embassy had told me that Buzz Aldrin would be making a space-walk over Finland from Gemini 12. According to the Omega agents, Perkko, my watch was identical to Buzz Aldrin’s & was one of the batch made for NASA testing but NASA only took a handful and mine was one of the ones that was left. As such the remaining Space Watches ( remember this was 3 years before Apollo 11 !) were sent to Omega main agents and Finland had mine as the main shop window display for several months. At the time I was 18 and wanted a chronograph for car racing and the Daytona had a hideous waiting list & the Omega had passed the texts which the Daytona failed. The Omega also had a black face with white hands which I FAR preferred to the white face of the Daytona. It has been on my wrist for the best part of almost 50 years and has served me faithfully all those years. All the original parts which have ever been changed are intact ( including the original dot-over-90 bezel !) except for the original bracelet which broke when I was parachuting; it snapped when my chute opend at about 300feet & landed sideways into the grass verge by the runway. I took it to Watches of Switzerland in Cardiff who sent it to Omega who wanted to test it after such a hard landing: passed with flying colours ! They replaced the strap withthe newer curved-finished surface (but I still have the original spare link ) It once went accidenTally under my wetsuit to 30metres and
    Worked perfectly ! The size & mass of the Omega was VERY big in 1966 & has served me well. I’m thinking of selling it ; what sort of price do these 1966 Omega Space watches fetch these days ?

      Wow! That’s amazing… It’s not the best time to sell and to be honest i don’t remember to see watch like yours. Congrats

      The Daytona has a waiting list??? Wow. 10-14 years ago, they couldn't give them away.

    The Speedy is a watch marking achievement and history, the Daytona is a watch marking the need to show off, often to pretend wealth. In the race for space, Omega was better. And in the area of racing, it is Heuer that was the legendary brand, not Rolex nor Omega. Which is why I wear my 1967 321 or Heuer 1960s chronographs. But a gold Daytona will look way more exquisite on a female wrist. Finally, the Lemania 2310 - the essence of the 321 - made it to Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin and Breguet, a movement created as the Lemania CH 27 in the 1930s. When the Daytona movement makes it to Patek, Vacheron and Breguet, it can perhaps be a contender, maybe.

    Great objective review of two special watches, however IMHO, the Daytona is for people who want to “show-how” much money they have (most paying premiums or spending a fortune on stuff they don’t want to get one), versus the Omega is for people who appreciate the “know-how” of Omega watchmaking. Don’t take my word for it, trust NASA’s opinion 🚀

    Ironically only 3 Omega Speedmasters were worn on the moon. All the while 7 Rolex GMTs were worn on the moon.

    I appreciate your review. I have a 1966 321 (pre-moon, serpent back). Completely refurbished by omega. I really like the Daytona, but am not inclined to have two chronographs. I swim daily and wish the speedmaster was waterproof.

    Good video but there is a little bit of misinformation. No date window on the professional and the Daytona is not a 40 even though its marketed as one.

    I swap my 321 and 126500 white daily. I lean toward 321 due to legibility and movement.

  • @markhellie6837
    @markhellie6837 Год назад +1

    There are about 1500 321's made per year. Since 2020, that is 4500. Very low production. While demand is much lower, the 321 is significantly rarer, which will be a benefit in the longer run. Then there is added benefit of not having to worry about getting jacked for your high-production, automatic winding Rolex in which you can't even see the movement (which admittedly is very good--but very industrial).

    Have them both. The Daytona isnt that impressive and I regret buying it. I also have a Deepsea and Blue Sky-Dweller and both are much more wrist presence than the Daytona.
    So Id buy the Omega for the $$

      yes they are both ceramic the "normal" speedmaster is not ceramic but the 321, apollo 55th etc are also ceramic. I would still give the point to the rolex for the 100m but for the rest the 321 is at least as good.

    There are 10,000 Daytona’s for sale right now on chrono24, and less than 100 Ed White’s on offer in late 2024.
    The hype kids, flippers and flexers love the Daytona, but it’s neither special, rare, or designed as well as the Speedmaster.

  • @Sire638

    How is the Rolex a better investment?Most people like yourself paid Grey Market price or as you put premium.The Speedmaster you can get at retail with a little patience.I rather pay $15000 for the Speedy which is bringing $20k then pay $30k for a Daytona that's market is $30k how's that a better investment?And what about the fools that paid 40-50k for a Panda how are you liking your $20k lost in value not a great INVESTMENT.Lmao Buy a watch because you LOVE IT and Invest with Vanguard or Fidelity!lol

    • @letstalkaboutluxury2045

  • @Mister.Unknown
    @Mister.Unknown Месяц назад +1

    I feel the need to point out the Speedmaster is, purely mechanically speaking, inferior to the Daytona. It is not a META certified chronometer unlike its much cheaper regular MoonWatch, and its deviation is goes from -1 to +10 seconds a day, which is, understandably, only acceptable back in the '60.

    If you are going to compare the base Daytona then don’t use the 321. Use a different Daytona

  • @momiland7673
    @momiland7673 11 месяцев назад

    This comparison makes no sense! one is automatic and the other has a 50 year old manual caliber! you should have compared a caliber 321 to a caliber 727! 😵‍💫

      @@letstalkaboutluxury2045Then I recommend you open a channel where you talk about dolls! You are comparing two watches from different eras! It does not make sense ! You would have to compare the Speedmaster 321 to a hand-wound Daytona from the same period! Which is exactly what NASA did!

  • @skizoboy69

    I stopped watching when a point was given to the Daytona over the Speedmaster because of the ceramic bezel: clueless reviewer.
    Also, screw-down pushers are just stupid, but that's just my opinion.
