The sporadic muting is to remove cussing that resulted in RUclips removing ads from this video. This is my way of trying to play by their rules until we’ve established an alternative solution. I’m sure you’ll have no issues discerning the intended message though. 😉

It took me years of practice to get efficient at movement and execution for rear delt isolation exercises. One of the best tips I ever received for rear delt Training was "Train Rear delts first." Its much easier to feel them when the rest of the back isn't all pumped up !! I'm pretty sure it was Mike that pointed that one out, too !

Correct in every possible way its not even subtle but massive. Once your traps are ready and firing, so difficult to isolate your rear delt(not that I am obsessed with that as any row whilst back dominant will give lots of rear delt)

Ive always struggled (over decades) to feel a solid mind to muscle connection with my rear delts. The best exercise I ever found for my own in which i really connected with them was from John Meadows, which were super heavy dumbbell 'swings' on a bench.
I think a big part of what helped was that it really took the arms out of it (as you've pointed out in this vid being crucial)

"Dorks and Nerds" are still trying to figure out how guys like Bill Pearl or Larry Scott got so big without their books or special machines. Growing up in the 60's and 70' Sergio Oliva was great to watch. As you say, he had no special "dork" trainers. Better than Arnold in my opinion. One of my favorites, Žydrūnas Savickas wasn't watching TikTok videos. He was lifting. Even if he was lifting the wrong rep, set, freq, rest, volume and tempo, he was still lifting everyday with high intensity. No magic elixirs. No magic replacement for hard work and consistency. Absolutely love your no BS videos. No special clips, no special effects or sounds. Just lift, rock through the target muscles, eat, sleep, train, don't over think it, ....just do it. Awesome 👍👍👍 thanks

Hey man, love this video and the advise.. Working out for years and literally learned something new with this. Only thing I would like to make a point about is the ending of your video, regarding the nerds and why can’t people apply it to themselves. While I agree, I also know that some people just don’t have the genetic or physical gifts that others have, however that doesn’t mean they don’t understand the sport or anatomy. I mean one look at most professional coaches and they undoubtably don’t have the athletic gift, strength or size as the athletes they coach but they are nerds for the sport and understand it to a level that they are able to lead these men/women to victory. Always be willing to learn from anyone. Thanks for the vid tho man, I absolutely learned something that others don’t touch on.

Outstanding video, Mike. Loved the rant, as well as the training nuances.
If you ever feel like you're going over the same exercises all the time, please don't. There's a new nugget -- a new emphasis or sometimes even a formerly unarticulated idea -- you drop every time you go over one of these movements.
Saying that, I wouldn't mind you going over the finer details of that kneeling one-arm cable row you had Breon Ansley do when you trained him out in LA. (I'd have thought that would be a staple exercise for you, given that you told Breon it's the best lat extension he'll be able to get from any set-up?)

No one with bad genetics could ever be top 10 MrO. Guys with great genetics can train however they want (as long as there is enough consistency, intensity and/or volume) and still look great. They might suffer injuries snd health problems down the road, but its the combination of genetics, their will and hard work ethic that bring them to this top 10 level. On the other hand guys with miserable genetics must optimize! Refine, learn, research. That’s why some of them those nerds & dorks do not look that impressive. They may be well aware of their shortcomings and just want to be the best they CAN be within the boundaries of their genetic potential! They MIGHT know better than most of those genetically gifted impressive guys out there, because they work their way through all of adversities to get every pound and inch of muscle they build. They may refrain from PED because the do not want to detriment they’re health, tear muscles and ligaments just to look mediocre at best. They want to be fit, strong, and best they can be. You do not have a comparison. How would they look not training or training less efficient. Your training advice is great but not because your huge and jacked steroid fueled hulk of a guy, or top 10 olympian. It’s BECAUSE you’ve been beaten and torn with all those injuries and found better healthier way to stimulate muscle!
