Wow, that is a pretty crazy find with the water inside there like that…So weird… With all the gunk under there generally, is it possible that there are actually some drain holes on the spoiler that got blocked up or something with said gunk?
wow im blown away how did all that dirt work its way in i got convertible with the small wing that raises got me thinking is mine that dirty behind the panel
I found water underneath the roof panel with the antenna on it. I removed it, dried all out and gave the aerial connections a dose of WD40. I refitted the panel with a wipe of non setting mastic. (I removed the panel in the first place as I was having issues with DAB reception). Following on from this I don’t point jetwashers at any panel joints.
IMO, get rid. The coupe looks much sleeker without it. Seemed to be popular with 2017/18 models for some reason. Although can appreciate you'll now probably find it naked without. SVR wing however, yes pls!!!
Hm. I dont like the looks when the active spoiler is in upward position - I prefer the fixed spoiler definitely. This is also the reason why I would prefer a fixed spoiler over the active one.
They do come apart mate, remove the rusty screws, then there's large sticky foam pads. Carefully slice the foam pads with a thin blade whilst applying pressure to pull the two separate pieces apart.
If you can't stop the water getting in, you could give it a clear path out. I'd consider drilling some small discreet holes on the underside at it's lowest point to act as a drain. I wonder what damage could occur when that water freezes and expands in winter!!😮
I have the same fixed spoiler on my ftype and removed it yesterday. I also had water inside it. I managed to remove it easily from the six bolts (mine was not bonded). The only way I can see water getting into the spoiler is through the 6 bolt hole, which appeared rusty on mine. I managed to get most of the water out by shaking it and it dripping through the bolt holes. I have a separate issue, water is coming into boot door and leaking through the latch into the boot. I assume it was water coming in from the spoiler, but you say these holes are on the outside of the boot seal? Do you have any more information on where the water goes?
I noticed I don’t have those caps which cover the x4 bolts which hold the spoiler down. I think this is causing water to leak into the general boot lid, and out through the boot catch. When you washed the rear without these caps in, did you find you had much water leak inside the boot through the boot catch?
I have a Honda fk2 type r. Water in the rear wing is a problem with those too. I think it's due to jet washing. I've only had the problem once as I avoid jet washing the rear wing now.
Would you be able to share the model of trickle charger you use please? About to buy an F Type R and need to get one as it will be a weekend/occasional weekday car. Thanks!
I'm always trying to defend Jaguars by saying they are good cars. But when you can't get something so trivial as a rear spoiler design right. You really have to question their engineering. Headlight condensation that so many of these cars suffers from and water in the wing. There's no excuse for that.

I have the same fixed spoiler and I love it , I was however horrified with the dirt and water ingress

If water can get in, it must be possible for it to get out the same way. Any llikely candidate holes?

you can separate those two pieces by heating it and cutting it with fishing line. That's what i've done:)

Sure thing. I’ve done a video of the trickle charger and there’s a link in the description to the one I use 👍🏻
@MrGB_UK just checked the video description buy can't find a link. Could you share a link for me please.
@@richardparry7532 I use the CTEK MXS 5.0 - it's brilliant. Battery maintainer, though, not trickle charger. 🙂

The technical term is 'Well Manky', and the internals are 'Minging'.

Yes, because other car manufacturers don’t have these sorts of problems…You have to be kidding me…
Weird how the water got in, but won't come out.
I know it’s subjective but they do look sleeker wingless. But then if your used to a wing would be weird to go wingless
The deployable spoiler looks great when it's down, but the fixed one looks great all the time!
The water in the spoiler will help with the downforce.
