This song was inspired by George Jones back in his drinking days...his wife, Tammy Wynette would hide all his car keys to keep him from going to buy liquor but he found the keys to his John Deere and drove that get his liquor. Vince and George Jones became real good friends. You should check out him singing "Go Rest High on that Mountain" at George Jones' funeral...very touching and heartbreaking.
The John Deere reference and George driving his lawn mower was about his driving his lawn mower to get alcohol back in the day after his wife his his car keys.
Go rest high on that mountain with Patty Loveless, at George Jones funeral. Remember that one! Great going guys.
