What a great video series, thanks for showing us. The LED light looks great, more modern, big improvement for appearance. But so far I'm not sold on the LED for effectiveness of the light as a headlight. I'd love to hear your comments on how this light performs on the road.

Thanks for the series of videos of the LED headlight install. Would you like to comment on the light under actual riding conditions at night? And I was also wondering if the BMW stock headlight adjuster works with this light assembly? Thanks for all your videos on the R1200GS.
I am going to make another 'night riding video' So you guys can have a better view how this headlight performs. The bmw headlight adjuster works different, this has a rotating knob and it works good. Its very easy to turn the light beam higer or lower.
Nice light, but here in Sweden it is not ok with the straight horizontal light pattern. The light image should extend higher up on the right side. Will not pass the inspection here.
Its called asymmetric light, its aimed a bit to the right. Your right this led headlight doesn't have that.
True test is night drive on a country lane in the rain to see if it is good,then check in a year or two if still good I would also upgrade

Hello Mr. Old mechanic, could you make an electrical circuit with a twilight sensor that can leave only the LED position lights on even with the engine running? Then with an electric button on the handlebar you can switch to normal mode.

BUT
When the comparison test is not done at the same time, no conclusions can be drawn from it.
The camera auto mechanisms distort the results, so only a vid in the same shot can be relevant. besides, you vid the LED in last light, and you vid the halogen in total darkness.
The halogen came out more yellow, but it appears that there is more detail, and the beam covers a larger area. If you do it for the purpose of beauty, then it is reasonable, but for riding at night I would recommend going back to the original headlight.
I will do a video about riding in the dark and see how this led headlight performs

If you don't take the original headlight with you, the photos will have no comparative value.
PLEASE Take the original headlight with an additional 12.7 volt good battery, and light with both of them together from the same height. And light at the same time with both, a beam ON a beam, and also a beam ASIDE to a beam. Only in this way will it be possible to deceive the camera and truly understand which beam is wider and stronger.

ONLY When you spot with both headlights at the same time on the same area, and move the other headlight, we can see the areas of overlap and coverage of each headlight separately, for a valid and reliable comparison. THANKS😎🤩
I prefer the original look on an older bike. Led looks out of place. You can buy a lot of bulbs with that cash and have plenty left to fuel the bike 😊

Are the DLR and the low beam lights always on when the BMW motor is running? It thought the DLR light should suffice through the day. How about current consumption between old and new LED lights? Thanks a lot for the very informative videos!!!

I will not buy this led light. It's too "concentrated". In high beam it seems to be just a spot. In low beam as Runar Larson said : "The light image should extend higher up on the right side.".
I think this light will not be comfortable for riding at night
I also think that the Chinese plexiglass of the headlight is of poor quality and will scratch very quickly. The light will be diffracted, which will dazzle the vehicles you pass
And It lacks a test on the road: it is essential. Can you do it for us? We will see the reality !

Hebben jullie ooit het originele echte glas overgezet op de ledunit. Ik heb nog niet gekeken voor de maten of het past hoor. En ps bij mij werkt de set prima

Wanneer deze lamp 1 op 1 wordt overgezet, kont er dan een storingsmelding in het display?

En nu maar hopen dat die Chinese rommel niet te veel electro-magnetische storingen aan je fiets of gps e.d. veroorzaakt...
Lol die chinese rommel werkt bij mij al meer dan een jaar zonder 1 enkele storing. Btw ik rij zomer en winter en dus in de winter heen en terug naar huis in het donker. Dus wat mij betreft een aanrader.

@@Baltha1710 Lol tekst is plat ;-) ik voel me niet aangevallen hoor. Ik ben aangenaam verast met deze LED. Ook ik heb slechte maar ook veel goede ervaringen met Chinese producten. De prijs is vaak dusdanig dat ik rekening hou met een tegenvaller als ik iets koop in China.
Dat is mijn ervaring ook, met dit soort dingen moet je toch ook een beetje in ogenschouw nemen dat het eigenlijk goedkoop is, en dat je er ook geluk mee moet hebben. Sommige Led upgrades werken nog steeds, en andere gaven snel al de geest. Maarjah zoals ik al zei, het kost ook geen drol he.
The original headlamp is better. More light all around. The Chinese one cuts off light and no real spread of light compared to original.
