Story 2: I'm often part of the pyrotechnics team at concerts and we also have specially cordoned-off areas for wheelchair users at the front of the stage. The whole thing is not just a kindness for people who can't stand up and walk around so that they can also see something, but also has something to do with safety in emergency situations.
Have you ever tried to get a person out of the thick crowd if they suddenly have a medical emergency? It's quite difficult, isn't it? Now imagine you don't have to get a narrow body out of there, but a wide wheelchair, while the people around you can't see why you're pushing and shoving and everyone wants to get to the stage.
    That's practically impossible.
It's better to keep these potential mobility problems (and here I mean the problem of having to move a person in bulky furniture - not the person as such, before anyone tries to accuse me of that) separate and clearly visible so that you can reach them quickly from the sides if necessary.

@@philopharynx7910 Isn't that right? And now imagine if even a dozen Karens parked their self-centred brats in this area reserved for wheelchairs.
Then you'd have exactly the same problem as if the wheelchairs were standing in the crowd. It's difficult or even impossible to get them out if something happens.
Therefore: respect the reservations, guys !

Back in the 1970s, my cousin and I (and my brother, who was foisted off on us) went to see David Cassidy. This was the Partridge Family days but he was singing solo. We were way up high and while we could see him, the details weren't clear. But during the time between songs, the three of us (because I bribed my brother into it) screamed "We love you David." And he turned, looked straight at us (he couldn't see anything but he knew the direction) and said, in front of everyone, into the mic, "I love you too!" Be still my 14 year old heart!!!!! I'm 67 and that's still a very fond memory.

At the school where I used to work there was this kid Maurice. He and his mom would NEVER take responsibility for anything. He was constantly in trouble for messing with kids but had an excuse every time. A teacher could witness him walk up to a kid who was quietly reading a book, punch them, and then insist that the kid made him do it. And his mom insisted every single one of his excuses were real.
It got to the point where his teacher told him she would throw him a pizza party if he admitted fault for even the slightest thing. I'm talking even accidentally knocking his pencil off his desk and not blaming it on some other kid. Just "whoops, my bad, gonna grab my pencil real quick" instead of his usual "why'd you throw my pencil?!" She was absolutely serious about the pizza party and even the other kids tried to get him to take responsibility. But sadly, no matter how many times his teacher tried, he refused to admit fault for anything. Dude never got his party and ended up moving at the end of the school year. This is what happens when you create entitled kids. They end up missing out on great things because they're so insufferable about everything else.

On the one hand true, but they won't know it's stolen. More importantly they can't sell stolen goods either. They already bought it without knowing, not sure how it works regarding receipts, since you don't have to keep them and there wouldn't actually be any other proof of ownership the shop can accept. But it would at least make sure it doesn't go to someone else, although it might take some time to get the ring back too, if the shop is uncooperative (which I don't think they would be, but they might)

Pawn shop operators are some of the most weasely a-holes. For a gun they’ll notify police that they took in said gun and find out if it was reported stolen, but they won’t check to see if the guy pawning it is the registered owner.
Years ago I had a pistol which I kept in the bedroom in a place I seldom opened. A certain family member took the pistol and pawned it for some quick cash. I hadn’t reported it missing because I had no idea it was gone.
A month later I discovered the pawn ticket, realized the gun was missing. I headed for the pawn shop, only to learn that the family member had defaulted on the pawn loan and the gun was long gone. I confronted the pawn shop owner who gave me the most oily response: “We believe all our customers are honest.” His grin literally was so nasty that he made me want to take a bath. And there was absolutely nothing I could do to get the gun back.

If the pawn shop is even remotely reputable and wants to stay in business, they probably reported it to the police department themselves as soon as the boyfriend came in with the receipt. I didn't have a grandma like story one. I had a grandma that was just plain mean. This was by Grandma Hilda. I've met people from Germany who were lovely people. Fun and fun loving but that was not my grandmother. When we went to visit we would have to sit on her couch and not make a sound. No laughing no playing. Just sit and be quiet. One day while we were there, she took a frozen chicken out of the freezer for her dinner the next night and dropped it on her foot, breaking two of her toes. She screamed at my older brother blaming him because he looked at her while she was taking it out. My mom said time to go and we really didn't have much to do with her after that. When she passed away 20 years later at 96 my brothers and I were pallbearers and my oldest brother said he expected her to pop the lid open and yell at us for not carrying her casket right. This gave us all a case of the giggles which didn't seem appropriate but couldn't be helped. Sometimes you just laugh at the worst time. The last picture I have of her is at her 90th birthday. The whole family was there. Smiles all around except for her. My granddaughter was looking through my phone's photo album and happened to come across that 1 and she asked, Why does she look so mean? and I simply said, Because she was.

That story about the ring the mother pawned - when a few years after my father had started dating the woman he then married he pestered me to give one of the two fur coats I had to her. One was my late mom's mink coat, the other of black curly sheep fur he and my mother had bought me, both calf length to me. Now I don't actually even care all that much about fur coats, but before my mother died she had once talked about those two coats, when my father was present, and told me that since I'd have them both after she died (she was already badly sick then) I should have one of them altered to waist length.
And that is why him asking that of me really did hurt. He knew that my mother had wanted me to keep both. And he told me that he wanted me to give either the one I had inherited from mother, or the one I had been gifted by both of them, to his new woman. To me their monetary value meant pretty much nothing, but they had value to me because of the memories connected to them, and his thoughtlessness asking - and I presume she may have coaxed him to do that - did hurt, a lot.
I did give up the sheep fur, in the end. The woman didn't thank me for it, neither did my father, and I don't think I ever even saw her wearing it. I guess she had wanted the mink coat.
In that ring case the young woman at least presumably already know what her mother was like. In my case that coat situation was the first time I found out that I could not fully trust my father to think of my rights, or my feelings, first, and that his new woman presumably meant more to him than I did.
At least I was already an adult, and no longer living at home, when my mother died.

I can’t believe that people still have to be reminded to not leave kids and dogs in the car on hot summer days.
Even on days that aren’t hot, kids left alone in cars could still be in danger of getting kidnapped.
I’m glad the kid in the last story was okay.

Karen left her kid in the car for an entire shopping trip, loading up a full cart, but the guy with 10 items who was checked out within the span of her rant is to blame? That is some hardcore lack of accountability. She shouldn't have left him in there in the first place. And even after seeing the kid half dead as a result of her poor choices, she continues to deny responsibility. What a mess of a person.

Story 4: Reminds me if what happened in my city when kids went to remote learning during the Pandemic and they were issued school laptops. Some unscrupulous parents saw those laptops as a payday and tried to pawn them for money to get drugs only to get a visit from police and school officials. I think some kids were put with other family members. Got to tell you, that was sad.

That one about the blind OP reminded me of the time my mum and I were in Malta, and we went to see the noon day canon being fired. Lots of tall people, like six footers, stood right in front of us. Me and my mum are both about 5ft something, so why didn’t those tall people let us stand in the front? They could have easily seen the gun firing over our heads. I had to crouch to see through someone’s legs (my mum managed to see between two people’s heads) and I have poor circulation so it wasn’t really comfortable for me. We still got to see the gun but if a few talk people had just been nice enough to let us stand in front of them, we’d have all been a lot happier!

Now he would do this when he is tight on money and desperate but he doesnt bother to ask and pretends everything in fine.
The Worst things to disappear and him pretending it never existed was a orange tabby cat named Tiger and a Smart Parrot named Baby disappearing because he didnt like either of them.
The man has serious mental issues he refuses to fix. Those are not the worst things he has done to me. I hardly talk to him these day and I try to encourage him to change himself but he sees it as a insult because he literally has to fight with anyone just to interact with them.

So, when you have someone violent like the lady at the bus stop, a method that I've always found that works in getting them to stop their destructive behavior is the "shirt lift". It's a simple technique: you take your left hand and grab an inch or two above the hem of your own shirt, then you lift your shirt about three to four inches.

I remember during my going-to-concert days that there was a young man who came in a wheelchair. Just defore the music started his aids would sit him on the dance floor near the stage and he’d dance along on the spot and had an awesome time. No one ever harassed him and no one ever said a bad word, and he had an awesome time every time a I saw him. The lead singer (whom I am still friends with to this day) would also sing to him sometimes. I really don’t understand why people have a problem.
