    The Grenadier did pretty well with what you threw at it. Nothing too hard, but not so easy people will be saying, "I could've done that in my Camry!" What I found most impressive was, as the vehicle's suspension was articulating and jouncing through the ruts and bumps there were absolutely no squeaks, rattles, creaking, groaning, etc. Considering the twisting that was going on, that speaks volumes to the build quality of the truck.
    I've wheeled in series Land Rovers and Jeeps and they always had a little something to "say" when going over obstacles. Nothing wrong, per se, just talking to you about what they were doing at the moment. This truck was just straight bored, "Yawn! What else you got?"
    I like that. I've got serious issues with this rig in other areas, but this was nice to see. Thanks for putting this one out there.

If you went to some much more difficult spots possibly sway bar disconnect would help. Sway bar disconnect is really an American thing which for some reason hasn't been needed in other countries. I have two Grenadiers and a Quartermaster on order. I sold two 200 Series Land Cruisers, 2013 and 2021 that I swore I never would but just assume throw rocks at after owning the first Grenadier for just days. The Grenadier Traction Control on road and selectable “Off-Road” mode works exceptionally well. Mechanical lockers are a bonus and should be used sparingly, especially in the front as a rule.

      Who’s told you lockers are bad in snow? This is also a full time four wheel drive system. Lots of old Subaru’s got around just fine before traction control using just full time four wheel drive. If you get in a pickle you just lock 1 or 2 differentials and you will not be in a pickle any more…

    • @overlandPNWGX
      @overlandPNWGX Месяц назад

      @ I know it from experience. It’s also easily found in RUclips snow reviews. There are times to use lockers in the snow but it can lead to sliding sideways on embankments and other bad situations that involve turns.

      @atomicsmith Месяц назад

      @ I just searched for these reviews and only find videos of people showing how good lockers are in snow (because they are). Would love to see a video showing them worse than open diffs…
      Any situation like an embankment where you slide sideways with locked diffs, you would also slide sideways with open diffs.
      You also didn’t address the main point: full time four wheel drive. Lots of vehicles were extremely capable in snow using just full time for wheel drive before TC was a thing. Subarus, Audis, LC80s, range rovers, just to name a few.

    • @overlandPNWGX
      @overlandPNWGX Месяц назад

      @ literally had a 4Runner slide off the trail last month because he was using his rear locker. The rest of the ones who didn’t use theirs were fine.
      There are times of when and when not to use your locker in the snow. Going straight up a hill is fine but when a bank angle is involved it can be worse. I have lots of snow wheeling experience.
      The vehicles you speak of with open diffs still had torsion limited slip diffs or something similar.

    I really dislike the misinformation TFL provides. The term "triple Locked" is a great example. A center differential simple makes your vehicle an AWD (All Wheel Drive) which means it provides the most amount of power to the tire with the least amount of traction while the other tires provide friction ( this is a very basic representation of AWD). Locking or engaging the center differential is simply applying equal power to the front and rear axles all times. If you have a two wheel drive vehicle this is the same as engaging the transfer case in 4WD. When in 4WD the tire with the least amount of traction in the front and rear axle gets all of the power. this is noticeable when the axles are full articulated and you have the two tires at opposing angles spinning without the vehicle moving forward. When engaging the selectable locker in the front or rear it makes the differential into a spool connecting both axle shafts together and transferring 100% of the engines power to both tires on the axle with the locker engaged. The advantages of a locking differential is that it allows continuous drive when condition require additional traction. Some example include articulation of both axles to their extreme and your tires begin to lift, when driving at a steep side angle and the weight of the vehicle is transferred to the low side tires and not enough friction on the high side tires to maintain drive, and when climbing steep inclines and more drive friction is needed to move forward. Some of the disadvantages of driving with locking differential engaged are, poor turning radius, increased strain on the drive train and not having friction tires to keep the vehicle from sliding sideways on off camber driving.

    A jeep is a better crawler, a 4runner more reliable and a raptor is better for Sand speed racing.
    For the terrain shown in this video, an off road bronco sport could do it too.
    There were parts where you were saying that you were cruising with little effort, but the video shows otherwise, the amount of input you had to use in the steering wheel was a lot, thats not "cruising".

      Lockers have their place where even the best traction control systems can't smoothly get you through places that need slow, smooth and controlled driving. It's why Toyota offers the Land Cruiser 300 and the LX600 with front and rear lockers.

    Mr. Hardy “Off Road Mode”! I unsubscribed and ended my Patreon support for TFL because of their idiotic coverage of this vehicle and the breaking their promise to keep it for one year long term review. The Ineos Grenadier is the most important and significant 4X4 car in two decades and Roman can’t deal with the over speed warning chimes, nonsense, stupid and a disservice to us.

      @ OK. There is a procedure to allow the backup camera in off road mode but you can also just turn it off if you really need the camera. I’ve just been extraordinarily impressed with the capabilities in Off-Road Mode and it’s the first thing on when the tires hit the dirt.

      Lol TFL tests everything to a level that wouldn't piss off the car manufacturers they borrow them from. They already got banned from Subaru's press vehicles. TFL also likes to over dramatize with their hair pulling and heavy breathing. They've got some good content every once in a while but the majority of their offroading, especially in the recent years is pretty boring.

As journalists they gave their opinions on something, which I agree with, having driven the Grenadier, in contrast to my past 4Runner, GX460, and wife's past Defender. Just because you aren't bothered by something, it doesn't mean a contrasting opinion is wrong lol. Though I understand the clickbait nature of titles
