    I had a very poor experience with a DTUK box on my 530d, and a similarly poor experience with trying to get a resolution from the company, so take this as my warning to you. After a couple months of having a brand new DTUK box on my car, I started getting swirl flap error messages. My car had idling issues and the engine would sometimes even cut out entirely when approaching roundabouts. My box had a blanking plate that was supposed to negate having the box on, so I used this and attempted to diagnose the problem. After much research, the only real option to fix this was to get a new intake manifold, complete with a swirl flap acutator. This did not solve the issue. I then decided to remove the box wiring entirely and put the car back to stock, and guess what, no more swirl flap error messages or idling issues! I then repeated the process of installing the box again and uninstalling it just to be 100% sure ahead of contacting DTUK. You guessed it- issues returned with box on (even with blanking plug, and all was better when the box/harness was off. I contacted DTUK with this information and just asked for my money back, whereby I should have also been asking them to pay for my intake manifold I didn't need to buy. DTUK didn't believe me and asked me to send the box back to them so that they could check it. Of course, all their tests said the box was working properly (shocking!) but they would send me a new box (but not a new wiring harness). I obviously didn't want anything to do with their useless product after this, but this was the only solution offered up, so I ended up with a new DTUK box I didn't want that I sold on ebay for half the price I paid for it. I'll never use one of these boxes again, and I most certainly would recommend everyone stay clear of DTUK in general. Awful products and customer service.

    Think these kind of units are fine for cars with warranties etc.. new.. as can easily remove without anyone knpwing....only had 1 in diesel Zafira and noticed improvement in economy etc... But now prefer rolling road map etc but when going on for service have to advise garage not to update to latest software as will wipe out the 'map' your discretion with you inform your insurance company ....

    Had something similar on a Saab petrol turbo in the early noughties put the power up from 150 to 204 brake. Made overtaking a doddle. It was a tuning box but flashed the cars ecu through the obd port the could reverse the process when the car went in for service. Allegedly it left no trace on the cars ecu.

    A proper remap has to be done on a rolling road or its just the same as the plug and play ie dtuk box or something similar

    @chrisgreenwood271 4 года назад +2

    I have a plug and play gizmo on my P38 2.5D RR on when I bought it, they are over £400 😳
    Having driven this model with and with out, there is a very noticeable difference, I can overtake 🐌no bother.
    Joking apart it's a decent piece of kit, you will pay more for a proper plug and play bit of kit, when you need to start soldering / and messing with the OEM wiring the units area much cheaper.

      I have a P38 diesel and fancy trying one of the plug in tuning boxes but thinking shall I just get a remap instead? Decisions decisions! 🤔🤔

    • @chrisgreenwood271
      @chrisgreenwood271 4 года назад +1

      fatboy 4pie I would think a re-mapped would be the better option, possibly cheaper you can still buy the box fitted to mine but expensive for what it is.
      It's a while since I had anything re-mapped but it was around the £250 mark.
      You can get a box of eBay for around £80 but you got to mess with the wiring, then set it up with variable resistors adjusters, not tried one so can't knock it.

  • @ganuv
    @ganuv 4 года назад +1

    I don’t what this guy is talking about but I got the TDI tuning box and there is a massive difference in the way the car delivers power, he obviously doesn’t know much about how fast technology advances in the tuning industry, the jb4 is one of the best if not the best Tuning box available and ppl record better power with a tuning box then a remap. I also think he’s talking nonsense regarding the price of a remap because they are way more expensive then the number he through, here in Canada a stage 1 remap can cost as much as 1200$ Canadian dollars, which is a lot of money! So number one I think he got a shitty box and number two I think he needs to update himself on the tuning Industry because it’s not what it use to be even 5 years ego.
