For young Sheldon Cooper, it isn't easy growing up in East Texas. Being a once-in-a-generation mind capable of advanced mathematics and science isn't always helpful in a land where church and football are king. And while the vulnerable, gifted and somewhat naive Sheldon deals with the world, his very normal family must find a way to deal with him. His father, George, is struggling to find his way as a high school football coach and as father to a boy he doesn't understand. Sheldon's mother, Mary, fiercely protects and nurtures her son. For 12 years on "The Big Bang Theory," audiences came to know the iconic, eccentric and extraordinary Sheldon Cooper. In "Young Sheldon," audiences get a chance to meet him in childhood, as he embarks on his innocent, awkward and hopeful journey toward the man he will become. Jim Parsons, who plays the adult version of Sheldon on "The Big Bang Theory," narrates.

I loved this episode because Sturgis and Linkletter did right by Sheldon and gave him the push that he needed when it came to this huge decision! The line “We’re proud to have been a small part of your journey.” I teared up!🥺
I love Sturgis and Linkletter in this episode. They decide to support Sheldon and guide him to the best of their abilities.

George actually did say to Sheldon that he's proud of him & he's a good kid, when paige was staying at their house and Sheldon was making him hot beverage at night because she was sad
Adult Sheldon also mentioned that it was even bigger achievement than nobel Prize
George also said same thing to georgie once but georgie was in current Missy's age then so conversation didn't go well

Have you seen the 1993s sit-com The Nanny with Fran Drescher? Oh THAT is a classic! My god, you will just die laughing!
OMG! I would love to see him react to The Nanny! There is a lot of great character growth in the show so I know he would love it!

As someone who used to live two hours outside of Boston and was born and raised in MA, I can testify to this. Massachusetts winters are brutal. I once had a month off in middle school because of an ice storm we had that cut the power in half the city. It didn’t help that we were a week away from Christmas vacation either. We had to stay in school an extra 2 hours for a month to make up for the time we lost.

There was a snowstorm on the day of college tour I really wanted to go to and it was canceled. My mom soon called it a blessing in disguise because I ended up getting rejected by that school.
I went to my second favorite school, which was smaller than my first pick, which I actually really liked. Made it easier to get around and it was easy to get to the milkshake machine after my mom dropped me back off from my orthodontist appointments. My mouth was in pain from something I didn’t even want and would drown my sorrows in milkshakes.
I know that a LOT of people's gonna be saying this through the comments, but I'm seriously looking forward to your reaction to the rest of the episodes. I think George saying that he's proud of Sheldon was my favorite moment in this episode. Loved the reaction can't wait for episode 10, be ready for the tissue box!

1:04 Mary's personality was WELL-ESTABLISHED as a hypocritical Christian in TBBT so I don't think this show was supposed to give her any "character arc" because we already knew how she'd turn out. 4:59 No apology necessary! I was thinking MUCH WORSE!
That's the thing about prequels, you can't progress what has been established - only provides context and perspective.

Overall, episode 9 has been so far my favorite episode of season 7! :)
I just noticed how currently, the even numbered episodes of this season keep getting privated or blocked on your channel. Season 7 episodes 2, 4, 6, and 8. Oof. But strange how it's only those ones in particular.
The finale releases may 16th. If you hurry up you can make it in time to catch up.
I feel the same about it being underwhelming for a last season, though the most recent episode was more enjoyable then the rest of the season

The episode is very exciting.
So for Mary it kinda makes sense why she didn't have any growth or little growth cause we've seen Mary in big bang theory and if we compare she's pretty much the same but older so also I wonder if that's what Howard went through for MIT with the snow storm lol

My most powerful comments all depend on when I am watching this. .. I can see it on Wednesday and be anti 6,000 things, or I can see it on the Thursday and be pro 6000 things. It all depends what's going on with my IRL at the time. The greatest part about this show is it gives you both perspectives 8:02

I don't expect Sheldon's mom, Mary, to grow as a character. If TBBT is any indication of her character development, she kind of gets religiously less tolerable imo. On the other hand, that could be a result of her dealing with George's untimely death.
Well its official, Cody hates Mandy's mom more than Beverly because after the whole Big Bang Theory he never called Beverly a BI!@#

1:13 - *_well, sure, I like character growth from a show too... But here is the problem: Mary could never grow beyond what she was in The Big Bang Theory and when you look at how she is in that show, especially in the first few episodes, she is just as intransigent and high horsed as she is now in Young Sheldon. This is why I always hate it when shows or movies decide to do prequels: It greatly limits the development they can do because they can never go beyond what has been pre established by the original series or movie or they end up retconning tons of stuff that clashes with it; and they tons of the latter with Young Sheldon with his dad being a lot more nice and reasonable than he was described in TBBT, Sheldon learning many lessons in Young Sheldon that he seems to have forgotten in TBBT and many other details about his friends, neighbors and events of his childhood that did not match the established lore. Avoiding such pitfalls takes an enormous amount of planning and attention to details and that is something than virtually non of the shows'/movies' writers and producers don't ever want to invest themselves in. So in a way, Mary not having grown more than that is, to me at least, the best thing they could have done with her character as it perfectly fits the character from TBBT._*
That's the thing about prequels, you can't progress what has been established - only provides context and perhaps a different perspective. In this case the death of George could be seen as a big contributing factor in how events actually unfolded. We know that Sheldon can hold a grudge for a long time( believing his father was a cheater) and we know that Sheldon isn't always right about that of which he believes to be true( thinking his mother was okay after his dad died while in reality she was a mess).
0:21 - it’s a “Series Finale” This Fall “Georgie and Mandy’s First’s Marriage” is continuing on CBS with the others as visiting cast members. Sheldon got too old, character wise- and story wise so has George :(.
