CRAZY New Nike ISPA Collection (First Impressions)

- Nike have used the ISPA line to present a truly experimental collection, with 5 sneakers and 5 clothing items that use materials and shapes in brand new ways. The flagship Road Warrior shoe will apparently be limited to 8000 pairs and retail at $500, with the remaining 4 seemingly seeing a wider release and sub-$200 price points
Anticipated Release dates
Nike ISPA Road Warrior: July 17th
Nike ISPA Overreact: July 9th
Nike ISPA Overract Sandal: July 31st
Nike ISPA Flow: August 13th
Nike ISPA Drifter: September 1st
Clothing seems to not have a release date yet although the Inflate jacket launched earlier this year

i'm often saddened that they don't invest more energy and resources into subbrands like ISPA and ACG, it's the type of shit i crave more of.
I think Nike might start spending more into them considering they want to be more sustainable but we'll see

13:45 I completely agree with this sentiment. These specifically aren't my cup of tea as far as wearing but I do really love the experimentation/tech aspect of all of them. The entire wave of utilitarian/experimental/deconstructed/reconstructed/diy/sustainable/..... WEIRD shoes is so appealing and interesting to me. It plucks my designer heartstrings and makes me want to improvise, scavenge, protect, and adapt to create some unique, experimental shoes. I'm on a journey to add "shoe designer" to my resume and these types of shoes are really inspiring in that regard.

I think Nike ISPA made a wrong move with the tabi split-toe design. The designs are pretty extraordinary in itself the prices are quite high too, so I understand people are not happy that they have to buy some tabi split-toe socks to even wear the shoes AND buy something to match these crazy designs. If they wanted to appeal to a bigger audience and create some more hype around this collection, they should've went with a normal toebox design in my opinion. I think these are gonna end up in the sale category of END clothing, where you come across most of the weirder looking Nike shoes.
I'd have to disagree on on that the rerelease of the Nike shocks was unsuccessful. In Germany they are pretty commonly seen. 3:05

I like how every ISPA shoe that get a release date ends up going for $500 then it sinks down to below retail after the drop I see this a pass for me, though I do like the shoe design of it

Maybe the Drifter gets its name from that concept. The ISPA line is moving along with new ideas and this one is just drifting along with hints of the older ISPA shoes? Either way, I absolutely love them and am gonna try to get them. And you know what? I'm gonna try to get my hands on the Road Warriors as well, 500usd be damned!

Road Warrior and the Drifter are on my buy list. I have not been interested in a shoe release in a really long time so I'm pretty hyped on this!
the road warriors are toeing the line (pun intended) into sculpture. so weird and inexplicable that a brand would make something like that, but putting the road warriors alongside the alphafly’s almost turns them into an art object. if they made a few items each season that were this kind of limited, expensive, hyperdesigned object, with more toned-down affordable items, i think the line would do really well.
Big agree - would love to see semi-regular experimental releases that tell a story of the design process or show off some prototype ideas that won't make it to mainline releases
There are a bunch of insta pages that mash or do customs of base shoe models that would be big sellers, which I'm surprised Nike doesn't take inspiration from, they're kinda hard.

The pants are awesome if you're going for that "I come from a vertical world where people just have to be wearing climbing harnesses all the time and I accidentally mantled into this parallel horizontal world" look.

are there any benefits to tabi toe boxes?
I feel what you said about ISPA accessories can be applied to the shoes and clothing as well. If you have black everything else, a single current-line ISPA product could work. Not sure how compatible that'd be to an already busy techwear ensemble, though, since I'm coming from a more mainstream perspective.
I have the 'OG' ISPA WR in black and still love them, but I've not fancied any of the other releases enough to buy. I dig the pants and long sleeve shirt, but the price for Nike is a put off. The over-react sandal in black is niiice!
I’m really enjoying the ISPA stuff. The Joyride Envelopes are really comfortable! The ISPA commune jacket and track pants are futuristic looking. I had to order it from Germany, Nike ran out of my size.

about a fortnight before the Road warrior was leaked I was talking to my friend about what my dream shoe would be (which isn't a Jordan 11) and what I described was basically the Road warrior but I a black/grey colourway... But £500?! that's heartbreaking. I don't really wear "tech wear" my personal style is very Japanese inspired with hints of vintage sportswear and American blended with technical more futuristic elements to create a nice juxtaposition. Those shoes will pair as nicely to my wardrobe like its bread and butter.
Tabi toebox really ruins the road warrior, makes an already very loud shoe look gimmicky beyond reason. Feels like it was just put on there for the sake of being obnoxious and "weird".
It is nice to see Nike pushing the boundaries of what is possible. I really like the look of the overreact and the so called "sandals". If they add more colores to the overreacts they may become one of there biggest sellers from this colection. The pants are out there to. WOuld love to se what they do next after this ISPA collection & the new Space Hippe Collection.

Definitely agree with what you said about designing for hotter conditions around 8min, but they actually did an iteration of the React Low last year made with entirely perforated mesh for summer instead of waterproof stuff! You actually showed a pair, I think the first white/red/black shoe to pop up on the initial ISPA lineup you showcased. They were marketed super poorly and lots of shops still sold them as water resistant (they absolutely are not, even air is meant to go right through them) but I've got a pair and really appreciate the ventilation. Loved the video, did a write-up on the collection for Modern Notoriety and was really hoping someone would make a video on these!!

I love the aesthetics but I wish they would release some more monochrome colorways. The sandal overreact in black is great. Can t help but reiterate what other people have said: the space hippie and even some of these pieces seem really ironic in that they’re using recycled materials, less material, and stripped down look/design but the cost is way high. Is that just the new cost of sustainability?
My fav is the nike overreact fk sandal despite sneaker sandals and sandals not being mine thing at all. (i dont even like visvim christos, suicokes, or any of those fashion type beat sandals either) going to see if i can pick those up on a sale in like a couple months. definitely black is dope

Real hyped about the Drifters. I've liked tabis for a while but I never got any for the longest because I knew people would think they looked weird. I stopped caring much about what other people think and got a pair a month or two ago and now I can have a pair from a familiar brand too.

Yaknow what I think the drifter is the best out of all of them.
Oh and I have the react 87. See through futuristic shoe with super comfy react sole. I can’t imagine a lighter shoe (if you’re into that) only wear in summer tho way too breezy in winter. Super breathable too. I’m not sure if the Ispa can top them. Great video reminds me of the old acg drop videos you used to do when acg was techwear (coff). Faaaanx

I’d like to see the OverReact with a more classic simplified upper.
Since it's just a variation on the regular react sole this is probably the most likely thing to make it out of the ISPA line. Who knows!

The Veilance ones are quite slim, I use a Prada one personally which is fairly slim but there are loads of brands honestly. I don't think there's much need to get a 'technical' wallet so you might as well pick something you like the look of
