Really enjoyed the part explaining the origins of the split toe design on this video :) I feel a lot of people overlook the reasoning and origins of the split toe so the more people that know the better. Another great video 😃👍
Too bad most of it after the Japan part is mistaken. If you want to say a brand outside of Japan that has made tabi into sneakers, Nike is the first to do so, and not Balenciaga. The first tabi from Nike was the Air Rift in 1996, and while the split toe design was reminiscent of Japanese tabi, the inspiration was of barefoot runners in Kenya. When they were first introduced, a Kenyan runner won a race with them on first time wearing them. From then on, Nike also introduce a very limited pair called the Air Rift Cover made with horse hair around 2002 (I own a pair but materials too old to wear.) then follow suit, other brands started making tabi outside Japan. I guess you could say the ispa drifter is the future follow up.
Definitely a dope shoe! I must say, I appreciate your on foot views and angles! I lowkey cringe at other peoples sneakers reviews when the do that "heel, toe, double tap, turn" move. You on the other hand...low, agile, quick, spin, jump like a true steezy ninja! Doooooope
@@picsoleated the road warrior is already a classic for me. been seeing a dark blue colourway doing the rounds on IG. hope that will drop soon and with bigger numbers.
I think you would have to go TTS in that shoe based on the toe box. Its dope that they include a split toe sock. If they make it to an outlet for a discount I might try to pick them up. I cant find them on Nike US. Im not willing to pay $200.00 USD for them though. Thanks for the in depth review.
Although this pretty much goes against the whole design of the shoe, I think these would look sick if they rose a bit higher on the ankle, was a whole sole instead of the split toe design, and was maybe a bit more black focused rather than white focused on the coloring (I know black is nothing new but can't go wrong). If it were like this, definitely would be an amazing tech wear shoe.
I think Errolson Hugh set out to do what he wanted to do with Nike and he's done, besides Nike decided to go with a more vintage approach which is why the collab ended. It would be cool if he did a collab with a different shoe brand however. One can dream tho.
Yo these are kinda dope, depending on comfort for myself they seem like a good everyday shoe BUT design seems a bit too techy for me. Just checked the price, $200 USD, idk man...hmmm but dope vid!! Always find something different on your channel
Hahaha had to bring out the stompers huh! Lol tbh there's more to it than that, when I first started making videos I wanted the shoes to be the sole (no pun intended) focus of the video, plus there's also other complications with having your face on a social platform. I had all these reasons, but I was also a little newer to creating content back then so I didn't know how things really worked. I'm a wiser man now lol.

Appreciate that haha, it's an art!
Sick shoe. Love my pair. To me, these and the overreact sandal are in my top 5 for the year.
yeah pretty much any of the Overreact kicks, the road warrior and these are so sick

Interesting thought. There is a black colorway available for this shoe. Check it out you might like it
Another great review man 👌 any chance I can get an id on the pants you’re wearing throughout the review? They look dope
Nike basketball trousers. Bought them a few years ago so they might be hard to find now
if this collab with acronym...change here and there...hmmmm
Too bad Acronym doesn't work with Nike anymore. at least for now

Love the black pants you wore w this. Link???
Yeah want to know also
They're called Nike Basketball Trousers. I bought them a few years ago though so I don't know if you'll find them now, but definitely look em up
Picsoleated yeah can’t find it anywhere not even grailed or eBay
Dude where are you seeing these sitting? You can’t find these anywhere retail!
Literally everywhere even stockX
Hey, I'm late to this but, great video dude. And where did you get those pants?
So if I can't find those pair of ninja socks, I can't wear em. Lol
They come with them. And it's not difficult to find tabi socks, just Google it
They work with normal socks too. After a while you. Can feel the big toe again it’s strange feeling. Funny. But nice.
I have the aqua rift and I wanna have these too
My only issue aesthetically with these is that over exagerated heel design.
Tbh I don’t mind it
Would be cool if there was a black version
Those look kinda cold. Off topic did you pre order the ps5?
Yes I did
@@picsoleated cool I peeped the ps4 games in the back
You're catching on fam
nice shoes! and nice pants!! what is the pants brand? can you tell me the product name?
They were just listed as basketball trousers. Bought them years ago

Dude why were you ever shy of showing your face, you are one handsome dude! Show me those alien stompers!!! Hahahahaha hahah love you bro

Notification gangg🙌
the GOAT. Thanks a bunch brotha
There is a fear in me that if I would have wore this, I would trip on every step just by looking at the pronounced back heel.
what kind of joggers are you wearing tho??? sold the shoe for me
I actually liked the design but the split toe fcuked it up for me. Also the colorways are kinda trash
The colourways definitely aren't something special, but the Split toe is what makes these so sick
The split toe is what makes them so cool!
